In the paper edition of today’s Il Giorno newspaper, Emmanuel Giaccherini has spoken fondly on former manager and current Inter manager Antonio Conte.
“I owe him everything. He is a manager who puts himself in the front row at war, gives you great confidence, brings out the best and even more in you. You just have to look at the difference he is making on Stefano Sensi, Nicolo Barella and Antonio Candreva at Inter,” he said.
“Conte is a true professional and seeing him at Inter does not make me feel all that strange. In fact, I am happy for him. He is among the best managers in the world. When I went to Juventus, everyone knew I was an Inter fan and now that I’m playing outside of Serie A, I have gained some of my fandom back for Inter especially because Conte is there.”
Giaccherini, who is currently on the books of Chievo Verona, was then asked to recall Conte’s reaction when he was sold to Sunderland.
“He did not want me to go but the club was making a capital gain on me and I had the chance to go and play in the Premier League, in the end he resigned himself to losing me.”
In conclusion he was asked if Juventus have all but secured the title after beating Inter last weekend.
“No. The title race is still wide open. Conte, I’m sure, will not give up an inch. Napoli is also involved.”
