Antonio Conte will undoubtedly be happy with Romelu Lukaku’s showing in Belgium’s 9-0 triumph over minnows San Marino according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Belgian striker grabbed himself two goals – which made him the outright all-time top scorer for Belgium – and an assist in the win last night and he will not play in the next game against Kazakhstan meaning he will be able to rest up before returning to Inter training at the start of next week.
“When the Inter manager chose him to replace Mauro Icardi, he knew he was getting a physically strong striker, who had scored many goals, creates space for his teammates and someone who works hard for the team,” the report explains.
“So far, despite being far from top condition, the Belgian centre forward has given a taste of what he can do. Lukaku is a striker who can do many good things. The three goals in the league are a start but there is a statistic from the first seven games in Serie A that perfectly demonstrates Lukaku’s desire to help the team. The 26-year-old former Manchester United player is the only striker in the top 10 for ball recoveries made.”
