Newly appointed AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli could request the signing of Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini in the upcoming January transfer window according to a report from CalcioMercato.it.
Pioli would like to add some physicality to the team he has inherited from Marco Giampaolo, who was sacked after just seven league games in charge of the struggling Rossoneri, and has identified Gagliardini as the player who could do just that.
Pioli had requested the signing of Gagliardini whilst at Inter and had his wishes granted by Nerazzurri bosses and then tried to land him when in his last managerial gig at Fiorentina.
Gagliardini has struggled for playing time this season under Antonio Conte at Inter, making just two starts and five appearances across all competitions in total for a total of 266 minutes on the park.
As a result, the report goes on to state that the 25-year-old, formerly of Atalanta, could well request a change of scenery to up his playing time in the January transfer window which would certainly help Pioli’s pursuit of him.
