Inter & AC Milan Consider Building New Stadium In Sesto San Giovanni Area

Inter and AC Milan are considering moving their new stadium project to the Sesto San Giovanni area of Milan following the decision by the City Council to disallow the demolishment of the San Siro, despite their guarantee of public interest, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Milan Regional Government Plan has set a 0.35 ratio between surface area and cubic meters of building space in San Siro, causing issue as both projects submitted to the Milanese clubs require a building index close to 0.70.

The clubs planned to build a shopping centre and other spaces such as offices and a hotel, but these buildings require more space than is available thanks to the limits, especially considering the existing San Siro now cannot be demolished.

Therefore, the report adds, Inter and AC Milan are thinking of moving the new stadium to the Sesto San Giovanni area of Milan in order to allow them to build this commercial area next to the stadium, although a more detailed analysis by the clubs will be carried out soon.
