Inter coach Antonio Conte is expecting midfield reinforcements this month, with the two top names still being Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen and Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Repubblica.
The report details how Vidal is Conte’s first choice, with the duo having history having worked together previously at Juventus. Barcelona still don’t want to lose the 32-year-old Chilean, but the player is happy to depart the club.
However, things are complicated now, following the Blaugrana’s loss against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. If Barcelona are considering dismissing coach Ernesto Valverde, the report continues, Vidal may be convinced to stay, considering his biggest issue is the coach.
Inter’s other midfield target is Eriksen, whose contract expires with Spurs this June. The Dane’s agents are currently in Milan to meet with the Nerazzurri and discuss a potential deal. Tottenham want €20 million for the player’s signature.
