Inter’s chances of signing Arturo Vidal could be reduced if Barcelona are to change their manager according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter have a long-standing interest in signing Vidal but have struggled to agree terms with the Blaugrana club who are reluctant to let the Chilean international depart.
Vidal is understood to be unhappy at the club due to his lack of playing time and this has led to his relations with manager Ernesto Valverde breaking down.
Having failed to guide the club to Spanish Super Cup glory, Valverde’s future in charge of the reigning Spanish champions appears to be in doubt.
Should club bosses opt to sack him, it could well lead to a change of tune from Vidal which would only complicate things for Inter.
The report does explain that Vidal is no longer as big a priority for Inter as he once was as Inter are also working on a deal to sign Christian Eriksen from Spurs.
It cannot be excluded that both players could arrived at San Siro this month but in order for this to happen, a midfielder will have to be sold for a decent amount.
