Sampdoria Release Statement Regarding Postponement Of League Clash Against Inter

Sampdoria have released an official statement following on from the announcement that their Serie A clash against Inter tonight has been postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The statement details how the Council of Ministers has called for four Serie A games to be postponed, Atalanta’s game against Sassuolo, Hellas Verona’s league clash against Cagliari, Inter’s game against Sampdoria and Torino’s game against Parma. The Blucerchiati’s next game is now against Hellas Verona at the start of March, with there being no fixed date for today’s postponed game.

Sampdoria are currently 17th in the league table after 24 games, sitting one point ahead of 18th place Genoa, who lost to Lazio earlier today. The Ligurian side have only won one of their last five games in the league, struggling under coach Claudio Ranieri. The side lost against Inter 3-1 in Genoa back in September, in the game that Alexis Sanchez scored his debut Inter goal.
