Inter Midfielder Borja Valero: “We’re Taking The Europa League Seriously”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Borja Valero has shared his hopes for tomorrow’s Europa League round of 32 second leg match against Ludogorets.

“Tomorrow we will try to do the things we tried in training and put in the best possible performance on the pitch,” he started.

The Spaniard then went on to discuss the fact that the match is to be played behind closed doors in a bid to limit the potential spread of the Coronavirus which has recently reached Italy.

“Football is a source of entertainment and it will not be the same without the fans there but we have to do as we have been told. Regardless, we will face tomorrow’s game and the others in the best way.”

He was then asked about the upcoming Derby D’Italia against Juventus and if the team have been thinking about the game against the Bianconeri: “Before Juve there are many things in between, we have not had time to think about them yet.”

Next he spoke on the Europa League.

“We are taking the Europa League seriously and have done from the start. The further you go, the more interesting the competition becomes because you meet important teams and get to go to beautiful stadiums.”

This season the 35-year-old has found himself in and out of the team. He struggled to get in the team initially but had a prolonged period in the side as other midfielders were sidelined with injuries but he has found playing time hard to come by as of late.

He has made 14 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored two goals. He is expected to add to his appearances tomorrow with many reports suggest he will start the match.
