Inter legend Ivan Cordoba was full of praise for current Inter defender Milan Skriniar when he spoke to Inter TV on the sidelines of a ‘Fondacion Colombia te quiere’ event.

“He is one that maybe you do not hear much about during the game but what he does on the field counts. He can become a great leader, he is just at the beginning but with his actions and what he does on the field, the others can take confidence and know that there is a great defender to rely on in him.

“I send him my compliments, it has been a great season for him and I hope that he will have many others moments of great satisfaction.”

The 23-year-old Slovakian has made 38 appearances in his debut season with the Nerazzurri, where he has scored four goals and helped Inter toward a number of clean sheets along the way.

Valencia manager Marcelino has confirmed the Spanish club’s intention to take up their option to redeem Geoffrey Kondogbia.

“I am absolutely certain that Valencia will buy Kondogbia from Inter, he will be here with us next year,” the Spaniard revealed on Caden SER show El Larguero.

Since the word go Kondogbia has performed to a level he so rarely reached while with Inter and Valencia are rightly keen to keep a hold of him as they prepare themselves for next year’s campaign that will involve them participating in the Champions League.

The French midfielder arrived at the Mestalla Stadium on a season long loan deal with a €25 million redemption attached. Valencia have until the end of the month to redeem the 25-year-old thus meaning an official announcement can’t be too far away.

Kondogbia has made no less than 35 appearances over the course of the season across all competitions, scoring four and assisting just as many.

Lautaro Martinez’s transfer to Inter is as good as done but one of the final details of the deal concerns when he will actually move to Inter.

Reports in the media have suggested that Racing Club wish to keep a hold of the young forward until the end of the year and these claims have been backed up by Racing Club president Vitor Blanco who yesterday proposed the idea to the Nerazzurri.

Martinez himself has admitted to being unsure as to when he will complete the move to Europe.

“What happens after June will be a decision made by all parties involved. It will certainly be the best one for me and I will have the last word in what happens,” he revealed to Argentine news outlet Olé.

The 20-year-old striker has netted 17 goals this season in 24 outings for Racing and has been tipped to go to the World Cup as part of Argentina’s squad this summer.

Rafinha has further reiterated his desire to remain at Inter past the expiry of his loan spell in an interview with Globoesporte.

“Barcelona is my home and I’ll always feel a bit of nostalgia but I’ve found a wonderful environment here and extraordinary teammates. I feel happy in Milan and I really hope I can stay but I know it is not up to me.

“I only arrived a few months ago but it feels as though I’ve been at Inter for years. I felt at ease right away and my integration was really easy. Thanks to Inter I rediscovered the pleasure of playing and feeling like a footballer. The truth is that Inter had confidence in me from the very beginning and I knew I would be fine.”

The Brazilian midfielder then paid thanks to captain Mauro Icardi for helping him upon his arrival at San Siro in January.

“I need to thank Mauro Icardi in particular. He is someone I’ve known since I was 16. It was him who explained to me what playing for Inter means and thus made it easier to integrate.”
