Cagliari Director Admits It Will Be Up To Inter Linked Barella If A Bid Arrives For Him

Cagliari sporting director Marcello Carli has admitted that if a big club is to come in for Nicolo Barella, the player will get the final say on what happens.

“I would personally like to keep him around. Barella is a great player and still has a lot of room for improvement, especially tactically. I would like for Barella to become an important player for Cagliari, but I can not promise anything. If a big team comes in for him with an important bid, it depends on what the boy wants, but we would like for him to stay at the club.”

Inter are among the potential suitors for the 21-year-old midfielder who is playing well beyond his years. In the recently concluded season, Barella made a total of 35 appearances for the Rossoblu across all competitions. He found the back of the net on six occassions and gained many plaudits along the way for his continued good performances for the Sardinian club.

De Vrij Didn’t Want To Play Against Inter

Stefan de Vrij did not want to play in Lazio’s defeat to Inter on Sunday night due to his pending transfer to the Nerazzurri according to Leggo.

The 26-year-old still took to the pitch but could not leave the capital club on a high note as they lost 3-2 with the Dutchman giving away a penalty that allowed Inter captain Mauro Icardi to tie the game at 2-2 with around 10 minutes of regulation time still to play.

The central defender’s contract with Lazio is up at the end of June and Inter swooped in to secure his signature on a pre-contract agreement. De Vrij’s Inter contract was deposited a few weeks ago and he will officially become Nerazzurri property as of July 1. It is widely reported that he has also already completed his medical and all that lacks is official confirmation from Inter.

In the past season, de Vrij made a total of 47 appearances across all competitions for Simone Inzaghi’s side, scoring seven times and tallying one assist.

Moratti: “I Remember The Expressions On The Fans Faces After The Triplete”

Tuesday marked eight years to the day since Inter completed their historic triplete at the Santiago Bernabeu as they secured the final piece of the jigsaw, the UEFA Champions League trophy.

Former Inter president Massimo Moratti spoke with Rai News on the memories he has of the fans from the time as well as what he thinks of how Inter went about ending their six year exile from European football’s top club competition.

“The stadium was wonderful, the expressions on the faces of the Inter fans were of mixed happiness and commotion and this is the first thing that springs to mind when I think about the triplete.”

“What do I think of the way the club made a return to the Champions League after six years? The other night [against Lazio where Inter secured Champions League qualification] was fantastic, especially for how the game went. In the space of two minutes everything changed. The victory brought me immense joy.”

Martinez Confirms He Is On His Way To Italy

Inter bound Lautaro Martinez has come out and confirmed he is headed for Italy when speaking after Racing Club’s final group stage game 2-1 defeat to Cruzeiro in the Copa Libertadores.

“I am going to Italy and we will see what happens, I am very happy with what I gave to Racing,” he told reporters post match on the sidelines of the Brazilian side’s pitch.

Martinez also reflected on missing out on being included in Argentina’s final squad for the World Cup which was announced earlier this week.

“I was happy to have been included by Jorge Sampaoli in the 35 man preliminary squad list. It is a reward for the work I have done in these past few months but now we must support the 23 who will go to Russia.”

The 20-year-old striker has starred for Racing Club this term netting 17 goals in 24 games across all competitions and is expected to undergo his Inter medical this coming Friday.

Martinez To Undergo Inter Medical On Friday

Lautaro Martinez is coming to Milano to undergo his medical exams ahead of his summer switch to Inter according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Martinez will take his medical on Friday but the Milan based newspaper add that Inter will refrain from depositing his Inter contract with Lega Calcio until July 1st. Depositing his contract beforehand would mean his €22 million transfer would count against this year’s budget and would in fact be very detrimental in Inter’s bid to abide to the agreement they have with UEFA in relation to financial fair play.

The 20-year-old attacker is regarded as one of the top Argentine prospects and has drawn comparisons to compatriot’s Sergio Aguero among others. He has found the net on 17 occasions this season in 24 appearances across all competitions for Racing Club.

Inter fought off competition from some of Europe’s top clubs for his signature and with Mauro Icardi looking set to stay, an all Argentine strike force could be on the cards for the Nerazzurri next season.

Galatasaray Manager Contacts Zanetti Over Keeping Nagatomo

Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim has been in contact with Inter vice president Javier Zanetti over the potential signing of Yuto Nagatomo according to reports coming out of Turkey.

Nagatomo arrived at the Cimbom in January on an initial six month loan deal. The Japanese defender has impressed the Turkish club’s hierarchy during his short time with the club, who he helped toward winning the Turkish Super Lig title, and they wish to keep a hold of him. He made a total of 16 appearances across all competitions and tallied three assists in that time.

However, the two clubs are some way apart in their evaluations of the full back as per the reports led by Fotospor. Inter are looking to sell Nagatomo for no less than €5 million but Galatasaray are looking to spend no more than €3.5 million on him due to him only having a year left on his contract with the Nerazzurri.

Valencia Director Alemany Insists They Will Not Budge On Joao Cancelo’s Redemption Fee

Valencia sporting director Mateu Alemany has confirmed that the Spanish club will not change the current agreement they have with Inter over Joao Cancelo at a press conference where he spoke on various topics following the conclusion of their 2017/18 season.

“Inter is interested in keeping Joao Cancelo. They can buy him by May 31 paying the full amount. Our position is that we will not change the sum agreed for the redemption. If Inter wanted to renegotiate the agreement for Joao Cancelo, they should do the same for Geoffrey Kondogbia, but it will not happen.”

Despite Champions League qualification helping out, Inter still must be careful with how they spend their money due to having to abide to the financial agreement signed with UEFA and are therefore looking to aid themselves by reducing the Portuguese’s fee.

Alemany then went on to discuss Kondogbia and reaffirmed their desire to take up their option to redeem him for €25 million.

“We have not yet exercised the right of redemption for Kondogbia, but we will do so. He already knows this and for us he is a useful investment.”
