Roberto Mancini: Inter ‘boring’ jibe no problem if we follow Man City title path

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri believes Inter are one of the favourites for the Serie A title, thanks to their summer spending

ESPN FC's Mark Donaldson and Paul Mariner break down this week's Player Power Rankings.

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti reviews all the big storylines from the weekend in the Serie A, including Francesco Totti's 300th goal for AS Roma and Inter Milan's fourth consecutive league win. Roberto Mancini does not mind if people find his Inter side "boring," saying he was given the same reputation at Manchester City before going on to win the Premier League title.
The Nerazzurri are currently top of Serie A after winning their first four matches. However, three of those wins have been 1-0 with the other a 2-1 victory, and it is the Milanese club's efficiency over their entertainment which has caught the eye.
But Mancini says he will have no concerns at all if Inter can follow the path…

Why Inter Milan is a Serie A contender

New addition Stevan Jovetic, center, has already provided a boost for Inter Milan.
It's still early in the Serie A season, but it's clear that Inter Milan is a club on the rise. After a disappointing eighth-place finish last season, the team has won its first four games so far in the 2015-16 campaign — doing so in impressive fashion. This early turnaround is largely due to an improved defense that has conceded just one goal in four domestic games, and an attack that is more aggressive about putting pressure on defenders and trying to create a more open game in the attacking third.
Inter has plenty of new faces this season, including forward Stevan Jovetic along with midfielders Ivan Perisic, Felipe Melo and Geoffrey Kondogbia. All of these additions are making an immediate impact while blending well with last season's key players and, combined with manager Roberto Mancini's tactics, have the Nerazzurri well-positioned to sustain their early success.
Here is a look at why Inter is a legitimate contender to win the 2015-16 Serie A, based on its re-tooled midfield, rising attack and the regression of other domestic favorites like Juventus.

Inter Milan building character and strength in Serie A campaign

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti reviews all the big storylines from the weekend in the Serie A, including Francesco Totti's 300th goal for AS Roma and Inter Milan's fourth consecutive league win.

Felipe Melo is as intense in his play as he is in his rhetoric. Speaking after Inter's 1-0 victory in Verona against Chievo, Melo highlighted what his team needed to do moving forward.

"Inter must always target the Scudetto. Inter are Inter, one of the biggest clubs in the world. We have to think of winning every single game. We are warriors, have formed a big family and with God's help can go as far as possible," Melo said to Sky Sport Italia.

Despite Melo sounding like an extract from the…

Mancini has created a functional Inter that has creativity still to come

Mauro Icardi's first goal of the season secured Inter all three points vs. Chievo.

Maybe it was the tenacity of Mauro Icardi, or perhaps it was the timing of the goal that saw Javier Zanetti nod in approval. Sitting in the stands of the Stadio Marco Bentegodi, the iconic Argentine watched his beloved team grind out another functional three points. Chievo must be given an enormous amount of credit for the way they pushed the Nerazzurri all the way until the final minute, but Roberto Mancini's side made it an impressive four wins out of four.

Perhaps the main difference between…

Will Roberto Mancini’s added muscle push Inter to end trophy drought?

ESPN FC's Janusz Michallik breaks down the Inter win in the Milan Derby, one between two greats that are now in a rebuilding phase. It's been a while. Longer than you might think. Inter are alone at the top of the Serie A table for the first time since the days when they were still champions of Europe back on Sept. 22, 2010.

Sent to Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's game against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, one Mediaset reporter couldn't resist grabbing Jose Mourinho afterward to get his reaction to his old club's renaissance. "I didn't see the derby on Sunday, but I've got nothing to hide," he said. "If Inter win, I am…

Giuseppe Bergomi worried about banned substance he had while playing

Giuseppe Bergomi is a former Italy international.
Former Inter Milan defender Giuseppe Bergomi has expressed his concern over some medication he was given during his playing career, which is now a banned substance in sport.
Bergomi, 51, has admitted to taking a substance called Micoren both for his club and country, and he was not the only one.
It was a substance that "helped you breathe better" under exertion, according to Bergomi, although it was later added to the banned substance list and removed from the market over concerns regarding potentially…
