Miranda is a great signing for Inter and can help spark an immediate revival

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti looks at Miranda and Inter Milan and whether they are a match.
When the dust settles and the transfer window has closed, Miranda signing for Inter Milan will perhaps not be at the top of anybody's list when it comes to reviewing the summer's business.
While it ranks low when it comes to shock value or even in fiscal terms, it should place high when it comes to sense. The Nerazzurri have identified one of their major weaknesses and picked the right man to help them solve it.

Joao Miranda completes Inter transfer from Atletico Madrid

With Martin Montoya set to join Inter Milan, ESPNFC's Janusz Michallik assesses whether their summer transfers can propel them back into the UCL.

The ESPN FC crew feel Barcelona may be too big of a step for Arda Turan, who has been rumoured away from Atletico Madrid in recent weeks.

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti responds to the reports suggesting Arda Turan looking for more money and may leave Atletico Madrid next season. Inter have announced the signing of defender Joao Miranda from Atletico Madrid.
Miranda, 30, had been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City since last summer after fine performances led Atletico to La Liga glory and the Champions League final in the 2013-14 season.
The versatile defender had initially decided in April to see out the remainder of his Atletico contract until the summer of 2016, but Inter have confirmed a deal for the Brazil international after he completed a medical on…

Stoke agree £12m fee for Xherdan Shaqiri with Inter Milan – sources

Xherdan Shaqiri has struggled to assert himself in recent years.
Stoke could be set to claim the shock signing of Inter Milan midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri after the two clubs agreed a £12 million fee, sources have told ESPN FC.
Shaqiri, 23, only joined Inter on a four-and-a-half year deal in January after struggling to establish himself in the first team at Bayern Munich despite a fine 2014 World Cup.
However, the Switzerland international — who has netted 17 goals in 46 international appearances – made just eight starts in the Serie…

Serie A is spending a lot of money this summer, but why the sudden surge?

The ESPN FC experts discuss Carlos Bacca's possible transfer from Sevilla to AC MIlan, where Alejandro Moreno believes Bacca will be impressive at Milan.

Ending austerity is quite the zeitgeist and nowhere more so than in Italy. Cautiously optimistic about moving out of recession this year and seeing accelerated growth in 2016 and 2017, Europe's third biggest economy is showing the first signs of recovery. Italian football would appear to be, too.

"Rich again," declared La Stampa. A year ago, Serie A's clubs had spent €126.4 million on recruitment by the end of June. Even though the market was kind of on standby because of the World Cup,…

Barcelona’s Martin Montoya near 2-year Inter Milan loan, agent says

With Martin Montoya set to join Inter Milan, ESPNFC's Janusz Michallik assesses whether their summer transfers can propel them back into the UCL. Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya is set to join Inter Milan on a two-year loan, according to the La Masia graduate's agent.
Montoya, 24, was long seen as the likely replacement for Dani Alves on the right side of Barca's defence, however he has never really established himself as a first team player at the Camp Nou and was again a bit-part player throughout the 2014-15 season.
Alves extended his Barca contract by two years at least at the end of that campaign, while Barca also have €5.5…

Xherdan Shaqiri goes undercover to prank Swiss youth team

In a brilliant prank conjured up by Blick newspaper, Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri disguised himself as (fictional) coaching legend Hansueli Strasser and went along to oversee a training session with a Swiss youth team.
While his make-up and wiry beard initially proved enough to swindle the youngsters, eventually they began to cotton on to the fact that something was awry when the bedraggled octogenarian began displaying his lightning pace and dazzling footwork.
Indeed, once the jig was up,…

Inter Milan’s transfer “formula” has positives but also some risks

With Martin Montoya set to join Inter Milan, ESPNFC's Janusz Michallik assesses whether their summer transfers can propel them back into the UCL. Calculated, efficient, researched and professional are perhaps just a few words which adequately describe Nerazzurri's transfer dealings thus far. It is not even July and yet the club has begun strengthening their team with incredible dynamism. The business has been innovative, so much so that it has been dubbed "The Inter Formula" by Italian media outlet Corriere Dello Sport due to its methods.
There is no debating its ingenuity but when looked at closer it is not without risk. If it is successful…

"We're talking to Inter about Montoya," Carrasco said. "Let's hope there could be a good conclusion…

Xherdan Shaqiri wants Inter Milan stay amid Stoke link

Xherdan Shaqiri joined Inter Milan from Bayern Munich in January.
Xherdan Shaqiri has said he has no intention of leaving Inter Milan amid rumours linking him with Stoke City.
The Sun reported on Thursday that Stoke were in advanced talks with the 23-year-old Switzerland international, who has endured a disappointing first six months at Inter after leaving Bayern Munich.
Stoke had also been keen to sign the winger in January, but Shaqiri is quoted as telling Albanian website FC-Inter.net: "I will stay at Inter."
