Spanish Media Report Barcelona In No Rush To Finalise Deal For Inter’s Lautaro Martinez

Signing Lautaro Martinez is a priority for Barcelona but they are in no rush to finalise a deal for him, at least according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Sources with close links to Barcelona have told Mundo Deportivo that Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro remains intact despite reports in Italy suggesting that there interest has cooled as of late.

Lautaro has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with Inter, which is valid between July 1 and July 15 and the report explains that Barcelona have changed their strategy when it comes to trying to land the Argentine national team striker.

Barcelona still have no intention of paying his release clause and have a big bargaining chip in knowing that the 22-year-old wishes to link up with compatriot Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou.

If Inter are to reject the most recent offer of €70 million plus Junior Firpo, Barcelona will still be calm knowing that they could sign him in August or September.

The report goes on to add that Inter manager Antonio Conte is meanwhile trying to convince Lautaro that the best thing for him would be to stay at Inter where he is guaranteed to be a starter.

Inter have also got his teammates and other influential people at the club advising him to stay where he is too but Lautaro has also received many messages from Messi among others regarding moving to Barcelona.

Italian Journalist Sabatini: “Inter Coach Conte Must Adapt His Game & Amalgamate It With Eriksen”

Italian journalist Sandro Sabatini has insisted that Inter manager Antonio Conte must adapt his system to suit attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen joined Inter in the most recent January transfer window from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in a circa €20 million deal and signed a four and a half year contract with the Nerazzurri club.

The Danish national team player was not initially played in his preferred role but has been played in his natural position in each of Inter’s past two games and there has been a notable improvement in his performances as a result.

“Conte has been too hesitant to put him in the team. When he touches the ball he determines things, he is not a player who does the homework but he assists and scores.

“Conte must adapt his game and amalgamate it with Eriksen,” Sabatini explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva earlier on today.

Since his arrival at the club, Eriksen has made 10 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 500 minutes, the former Ajax player has scored two goals and has also provided as many assists.

Italian Media Claim Inter In Strong Position To Keep Barcelona Linked Lautaro Martinez For 2 Reasons

Inter remain in a strong position when it comes to keeping a hold of Lautaro Martinez according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

Prior to Inter’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria last night, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta explained that the player has not asked to leave the club.

The fact that the player has not asked to depart coupled with the fact that Barcelona are reluctant to pay his €111 million release clause means Inter are in a strong position to keep a hold of the highly rated 22-year-old Argentine national team striker.

Barcelona have been courting him for some time and some reports in the media have even suggested he has agreed personal terms with them however this report states that for the time being any deal is completely blocked.

This season Lautaro has made 33 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 17 goals and tallied four assists.

Nerazzurri Legend Giuseppe Bergomi: “Inter Need A Miracle To Win The Scudetto”

Legendary Inter defender and former club captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his belief that it will take a miracle for Inter to win the Serie A title this term.

Following on from last night’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria, Inter have cut the gap between themselves and second placed Lazio to five points and the gap between themselves and league leaders Juventus to six points.

Inter have 12 games to play, more than half of which come against clubs below European qualification places in the league and despite Inter’s kind schedule, Bergomi thinks it will take something special in order for them to clinch the Scudetto crown.

“Inter need a miracle to win the Scudetto. In the reverse of their remaining matches, they picked up 31 points meaning they would finish on 85 points if they repeated it but the title tends to be won with over 90 points,” he explained in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia during the ‘Sky Calcio Club’ show earlier on today.

Bergomi proceeded to speak on Inter’s January transfer window recruit Christian Eriksen, who made his second consecutive start at San Siro last night against La Samp.

“He played in the right position and played a good game. I am always convinced that he can do more but he gave good signals.”

Italian Journalist Ravezzani: “If Inter Beat Sassuolo They Can Begin Hoping To Win Serie A Title”

Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia director Fabio Ravezzani has shared his belief that Inter will be able to have hope about winning the Serie A title if they are to beat Sassuolo on Wednesday night.

Ravezzani took to social media platform Twitter to share his comments on Inter’s performance in their 2-1 win over Sampdoria last night in what was each sides first game back after the three month Coronavirus enforced stop.

Inter took the lead via top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku just 10 minutes into the first half and Barcelona transfer target Lautaro Martinez doubled the dominant Nerazzurri’s lead just after the half hour mark.

Inter’s performance levels dropped in the second half and this allowed Sampdoria to pull a goal back through Morten Thorsby. Despite not playing to the same level as they did in the first half, Inter still managed to see the game out and secured an all important three points.

“Inter were beautiful and convincing in the first half. Then there was another physical and nervous decline. Eriksen, Lautaro and Young all played well. Lukaku struggled and was a little too wrong. Skriniar is a bad copy of a year ago. If Inter beat Sassuolo, Inter can return to having hope,” Ravezzani tweeted.

Inter Midfielder Roberto Gagliardini Fined After Diving In Inter’s Win Over Sampdoria

Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has been slapped with a fine from Sports Judge Gerardo Mastrandea for his dive in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

The Italian national team player went to ground unchallenged in the final few minutes of the encounter at San Siro and referee Maurizio Mariani was quick to punish him with a yellow card.

Mastrandea has further punished Gagliardini by issuing him with a fine of €3000 for his simulation during the match.

The 26-year-old was given a rare chance to start as he was drafted in for Marcelo Brozovic, who picked up an injury in training the day before the match.

The former Atalanta player, who has a contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date this term.

Italian Journalist Luigi Garlando: “Inter Honoured Mario Corso With The First Goal Against Sampdoria”

In a column in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian journalist Luigi Garlando has shared his thoughts and feelings following Inter’s 2-1 victory over Sampdoria.

Inter took the lead via Romelu Lukaku just 10 minutes into the game and then Lautaro Martinez doubled the team’s lead shortly after the half hour mark.

Inter’s performance level dropped slightly in the second half and this allowed the visitors to pull a goal back but Inter were able to see the game out and pick up the three points.

The Nerazzurri remain in third place in the Serie A table and find themselves five points behind second placed Lazio and six points behind current league leaders and reigning champions Juventus.

“The first goal was poetry and scored with the left foot of Romelu Lukaku. It was the best way to honour Mario Corso. Had the goal been scored in the 11th minute then it would have been a perfect tribute,” Garlando began his column in the Milan based news outlet.

He then went on to discuss the second goal that Inter scored among many other things related to the match that was played at San Siro.

“Lautaro doubled their lead on the the 33rd minute and in the silent sky of San Siro the Lu-La partnership rose again.

“The second goal came after some very nice play and Conte can be satisfied with the result. The coach has receieved confirmation regarding the condition of the group.

“The ball was moved quickly and safely along well-drawn and well-known lines of play. The absence of Brozo did not weigh, on the contrary, the more muscular interpretation of Gagliardini, even if at times faulty, gave substance to the department and protected the ideas of Eriksen who, as in Naples, took over the team and has grown in understanding with his teammates.”

Garlando then discussed the performance of Lautaro Martinez.

“The best news for Conte is that the Bull has risen. Maybe he is not yet fully unleashed and at the level he was at at the beginning of the season but he has shown another spirit. This was perhaps to do with Marotta’s words pre-match.”

Garlando concluded the column by sharing what he believes Conte’s plan is.

“Conte’s plan is basic. He wants to win all of the remaining games. They will dive underwater and keep their heads underwater for 12 games and they will come up at the end and see if Juventus and Lazio are still ahead.

“It is not easy but there is no alternative given the detachment in the table. Inter’s schedule can be an ally. In the next seven matches, Inter will only play teams below seventh place, including SPAL and Brescia.”
