Barcelona Postpone Transfer Of Inter’s Lautaro Martinez – Need To Raise €70M This Month

Barcelona need to raise a sum of €70 million by the end of the month to sort out their budget according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Sport.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu hopes to raise the funds with the sales of Jean-Clair Todibo and Philippe Coutinho but it will not be easy the report warns.

The Blaugrana could get in the region of €20 million for Todibo whilst it will not be easy to move Coutinho on without recording a loss on him.

Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian could meet with Barcelona shortly to present various options amid interest from Newcastle United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Barcelona want €90 million for Coutinho but could agree to accept a €70 million plus a player deal for the former Liverpool player.

With Barcelona needing to raise these funds within the next eight days, any moves they plan to make in terms of incoming transfer will have to be put on hold, including their move for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

Italian Journalist Mario Sconcerti: “No Reason Why Inter Can’t Compete For The Serie A Title”

In his latest column, which appeared in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti has shared his belief that Inter are back in the race to win the Serie A title.

Following their 2-1 win over Sampdoria at San Siro last night, Antonio Conte’s side find themselves six points adrift of league leaders Juventus with 12 games still to be played of this season.

“I was surprised by Inter and Atalanta, not because they won but because how easy they did it. They did what they wanted with their opponent and perhaps the fragility of the enemy is what drives them both. There was a lot of good football,” Sconcerti began his column in the Milan based news outlet.

Sconcerti proceeded to praise Inter for their performance against Sampdoria, especially their performance in the first half.

“The first half was one of their best this season. This came thanks to being in excellent condition an Eriksen, who made a difference in the final third.

“If Juve is the reference, Inter is clearly preferable now. They play better, faster and more as a team. Everyone is at the service of Inter.”

Next Sconcerti discussed the absence of Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, something which typically leads to Inter struggling in matches.

“It is necessary to point out the absence of Brozovic, who is good and keeps the tempo. Without him Inter moved everything quickly and Samp were surprised and often overwhelmed by the speed Inter played at.”

Next he discussed Inter’s chances of winning the Serie A title this term: “They are not the favourites but should practically always win their remaining fixtures. Three of their next four games are at home and there is no reason why Inter should not return to the race for the title.”

He concluded the column by pointing out that there are some areas of Inter’s play where improvement is required.

“There were some moments where there was a loss of concentration but this is part of the growth process. Inter won and had fun which is almost to be unexpected at the end of an athletically different season like this one.”

Ex-Juventus & Inter Coach Marcello Lippi: “Inter Fully In The Running For The Serie A Title”

Legendary Italian football manager Marcello Lippi has shared his belief that Inter can be considered as being back in the race for the Serie A title following last night’s result.

With their 2-1 win over Sampdoria at San Siro last night, Inter are now six points adrift of league leaders Juventus and five off of second placed Lazio having now played the same amount of games as both the Bianconeri and Biancocelesti.

“After the success against Sampdoria, Inter are back fully in the running for the Scudetto. Conte is someone who transmits an exceptional charge, especially in such periods,” Lippi explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai earlier on today.

Lippi, who spent just over a season in charge at Inter, then shared his thoughts on the season being back underway after being on hold for three months due to the global Coronavirus pandemic.

“We are all happy that the season has resumed, without algorithms and without playoffs. There are no more doubts that the season can end and things can be decided on the field.”

The former Italian national team manager, who led Italy to winning the 2006 World Cup, also spoke on late Inter legend Mario Corso, who passed away over the weekend at the age of 78.

“I have fantastic memories of him. He was a person of infinite simplicity, sweetness and courtesy. He was a brilliant player.”

Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi & Matias Vecino To Miss Inter’s Serie A Clash Vs Sassuolo Due To Injury

None of Inter’s current injured players will be available for Wednesday night’s Serie A match against Sassuolo according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Midfield trio Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi and Matias Vecino all missed yesterday night’s win over Sampdoria due to injury and Wednesday’s match will simply come too soon for the lot of them.

The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to explain that Inter are however hopeful that they will be able to recover Brozovic for this weekend’s match away to Parma.

The report does not however give any indication as to whether Sensi or Vecino will be available to take on the Ducali club at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Sensi was injured last week and in the injury report the club confirmed that his condition would be reevaluated during the course of this week thus meaning news on his condition can be expected in the coming days from the club.

Italian Media Claim Inter Confident About Keeping Barcelona Target Lautaro Martinez

The ‘real’ Lautaro Martinez is back following his performance in last night’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria, at least according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team striker put an end to a six match run without scoring by netting Inter’s second goal of the game at San Siro as the 2019/20 Serie A season got back underway.

Lautaro has found himself heavily linked with a potential move to Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window and the report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to explain that Inter are feeling a lot more confident about keeping a hold of him.

There are two main reasons Inter are feeling more confident about keeping him. The first is Barcelona’s well documented current financial problems and the second is that the expiration of his €111 million release clause is fast approaching.

This season he has has made 33 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 17 goals and tallied four assists.

Inter Legend Mario Corso’s Funeral To Take Place Tomorrow Morning

Mario Corso’s funeral will take place tomorrow in the basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Inter legend sadly passed away over the weekend aged 78-years-old and the funeral is scheduled to begin at 11am local time.

Inter commemorated the Grande Inter star by holding a minute silence prior to last night’s 2-1 Serie A win over lowly Sampdoria and the Nerazzurri also work black armbands too as a sign of respect.

Corso spent some 16 years with Inter between 1957 and 1973 and made over 500 appearances in total for the club. Corso, who spent three of those seasons as Inter’s club captain, scored a total of 97 goals for the club and won a lot of silverware during his time with the club too as he won four Serie A titles, two European cups, two Intercontinental cups.

Italian Media Highlights Importance Of Inter Duo Lukaku & Lautaro Martinez’ Goals Vs Sampdoria

In today’s print edition, Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have stated that there is a different meaning behind both Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez’s goals in last night’s win over Sampdoria.

Lukaku opened the scoring for Inter after just 10 minutes played and Lautaro doubled Inter’s lead at San Siro just past the half hour mark.

This was the first time that the duo had scored in the same game as one another since January 6, where they each scored in a 3-1 win away to Napoli.

The report goes on to explain that Lukaku’s goals have almost always meant that Inter win. In the 13 league games he has scored in, only once have Inter failed to pick up all three points. The game they failed to win, they drew 2-2 with Parma.

It goes on to add that Lautaro’s goal meanwhile represents a new beginning in the relationship between himself and the club amid ongoing speculation in the media linking him with a move to Inter.

Italian Report Claims Referee Mariani Should’ve Booked Inter’s de Vrij In Win Over Sampdoria

Referee Maurizio Mariani was right to dish out as many yellow cards as he did in last night’s Serie A match between Inter and Sampdoria at San Siro according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mariani certainly was not scared to put his hand into his pocket and brandish a yellow card as he handed out a total of six throughout the game.

The 38-year-old, who refereed his 19th match across all competitions last night, did however forget to dish out a yellow card.

In the 17th minute of the first half, Mariani should have given a yellow card to Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij who went in hard on Sampdoria’s Antonio La Gumina.

A card was not given to the Dutchman but the report from the Milan based news outlet believes that a yellow card would have been more than adequate.
