Inter Undecided On Signing Marash Kumbulla Now Or Leaving Him On Loan With Hellas Verona

Inter are unsure whether to sign Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla and integrate him into the squad straight away or to leave him on loan with the Gialloblu for another season, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are one of the many clubs interested in signing the 20-year-old Albanian talent, who is contracted to the Gialloblu until 2022. Inter are ahead in the race to sign the player, with Juventus and foreign clubs behind the Milanese club in the negotiations. The reason that the Nerazzurri are ahead is because they have already made an offer, whilst the Bianconeri have simply asked for information.

Verona want €28 million plus add-ons for Kumbulla’s signature, the report continues, a high request considering the current financial climate. The Nerazzurri are currently considering whether they should look to integrate him into coach Antonio Conte’s squad in the summer, or to send him back to the Veneto based club next season in order to give him some regular playing time.

7 Facts You Didn’t Know About Former & Current Inter Milan Players

For the past half-decade, the Seria A has had only one team own the bragging rights to the title, Juventus. Now thanks to a revamped system and players, the Nerazzurri are looking good to challenge the Old Lady for their crown.

With the league nearing it’s later stages, we’ll take a look at some fun facts about some of the players of one of Europe’s biggest teams, and 18-time Seria A champion, Inter Milan.

Romelu Lukaku Is The Most Expensive Nerazzurri Signing To Date

We kick things off with Belgian star player Lukaku. The flair and power of this Belgium man saw Inter Milan pay close to €80 million for this former Manchester United forward. A fee he justified as he hit the ground running, scoring 17 league goals and counting in his maiden season.

Lukaku is well decorated with both individual and team honors for Club and Country. He is his national team’s all-time goal scorer with 52 goals so far, though he achieved it at 24. It’s amazing to think he averages over a goal for every two games for both his current club and country, as his game tally stands at 25 and 84 respectively.

Romelu Lukaku has a knack for scoring in debut matches as he has scored in for 5 of his 6 career clubs as a debutant. This big man isn’t looking to slow down as he looks to end this season on a high, challenging for both the league’s top scorer and title.

Inter Milan Has Retired Two Jersey Numbers In Its History

The jersey numbers 3 and 4 are no longer in use by Internazionale as the club retired them in honor of two legendary players in 2006 and 2014 respectively. While the players involved were Giacinto Facchetti for the former and Javier Zanetti for the latter number.

The Italian club retired the number 4 jersey in honor of Javier Zanetti after the legend decided to close the curtain on an illustrious career with the Nerazzurri in 2014. He has both the Seria A and the total appearance record for the Nerazzurri. This figure stands at 618 and 858 games for the club respectively.

Inter Milan posthumously retired the number 3 jersey of Giacinto Facchetti. This attacking defender played a total of 634 games and scored 75 goals at the club. He spent his entire senior career at Inter Milan and enjoyed a stint of almost two decades. Many view Giacinto Facchetti as one of the best-attacking defenders of his time with this player placing as high as runner up for the Ballon D’or award.

Christian Eriksen Has Won His Nation’s Highest Individual Award 5 Times

New Nerazzuri recruit, Christian Eriksen’s, is a Danish and Internazionale midfielder. He’s arguably the best player ever from Denmark has won the Danish Football Player of the Year award a record 5 times. This UEFA Champions League finalist started his senior career with a three-year stint with Ajax; a partnership blessed with 3 Eredivisie titles. Christian Eriksen’s father was once a football coach and inspired his son into developing a passion for the round leather game. He also has a sister who plays for KoldingQ, Louise Eriksen.

Samir Handanović Has The Record For Most Penalties Saved In One Season

Penalties are easy to take, but not so much when you’ve Samir Handanović between the sticks. He equaled a record of over 60 years by making 6 penalty saves in the 2010-2011 season.

Non-Italians have only one the Seria A goalkeeper of the year award 4 times, and Samir Handanović is one of them. He has bagged the award three times, so it’s of little wonder why he’s the captain of the Nerazzurri.

Lautaro Martinez Is The Fourth Inter Milan Player To Score In Four Consecutive UEFA Matches

At the age of 23, Lautaro Martinez became the fourth Nerazzurri player to score in four consecutive UEFA Champions League matches, and the fifth Argentinean to achieve the milestone. Club players who share the record with him Crespo, Samuel Eto’o, and Christian Vieri. On the national side, Crespo also turns up, along with Messi, Lavezzi, and Agüero.

Ronaldo De Lima Is The Last Inter Player To Win the FIFA World Best Footballer Of The Year

Before the name “Ronaldo” became synonymous with 5-time FIFA World Best Footballer of the Year winner Cristiano Ronaldo, it was synonymous with 3-time winner Ronaldo De Lima. Many describe this Brazilian and Internazionale Milano ex-player as one of the best players to grace the round leather game. He pulled in a tally of 49 league goals for the club in a total of 68 matches; an impressive overhaul, given that serious leg injury plagued his time with the 18 times Italian champions.

After joining the Nerazzurri for a record fee of £25 million, this Brazilian legend swept the Italian league by storm, though an excellent stint with the club was tainted by long-term injury spells. Ronaldo is the last Inter Milan player to win the FIFA World Best Footballer of the Year award; an honor he won during his first season and the second season saw him place runner-up for the star prize.

Ronaldo still dabbles in football as he currently owns the Spanish football club, Real Valladolid.

Lothar Matthäus Won The First FIFA World Best Footballer Of The Year Award

Inter Milan legend Lothar Matthäus is the first player to win the FIFA World Best Player of the year award in 1991. You’ll find his famous number 10 jersey in the San Siro museum along with other club legends. In a time when Strikers were doing most of the scoring, Matthäus managed to score 40 league goals in 115 appearances from the Midfield position.

The only other player to win the FIFA World Best Footballer of the Year award with Inter Milan is Ronaldo De Lima.
