Nerazzurri Legend Bergomi: “I Liked Inter’s Performance Against Napoli, The Scudetto Is A 3 Horse Race”

Legendary former Inter captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi believes that it will be a three way race for the Serie A title between Juventus, Lazio and Inter.

The 2019/20 Serie A season is set to get back underway this weekend having been on hold for over three months due to the global Coronavirus outbreak.

Juventus are the current league leaders with 63 points to their name, Lazio are a point behind in second whilst Inter are in third nine points adrift of Juventus but do have a game in hand on both of their fellow title chasers.

“Juventus are in control, Lazio were doing well and Inter seemed a little in trouble after the defeats to Lazio and Juventus but I liked what I seen from them against Napoli in the Coppa Italia,” Bergomi remarked as part of an interview with Italian news outlet Crisalidepress.it.

“The three of them are all trying to win the title but to say how it will end is impossible because we have experienced something exceptional and there is no precedent.”

The former Italian national team defender also spoke on his experience with Coronavirus.

“I was sick in early March, but only the serological test and the swab confirmed that I was positive. Initially I was not afraid as the symptoms I had were not similar to those of Covid-19. I only had one day of fever and a week of very severe back pain.

“Only afterwards did I lose my sense of taste and smell and that sense of malaise did not go away. The tests showed that I had had it.”

Bergomi spent the entirety of his playing career with Inter. Between 1979 and 1999, Bergomi made a total of 754 appearances across the club and is second only to Javier Zanetti when it comes to appearances made for the Nerazzurri.

Ex-Nerazzurri Defender Massimo Paganin: “Inter Can Get Back In The Scudetto Race”

Former Inter defender Massimo Paganin has shared his belief that Inter have what it takes to get back into the Serie A title race.

The 2019/20 Serie A season is set to get back underway this weekend and Inter have 13 games left to play. The Nerazzurri currently find themselves in third place and nine points off of top spot but do have a game in hand on league leaders Juventus and second placed Lazio.

“I have reviewed the game twice, I have looked at all the numbers. The trial against Inter does not stand, Inter were the better side and the only thing they did wrong was concede the goal,” Paganin remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio 24 show ‘Tutto Convocati’ earlier on today.

“The work done is of quality but mental awareness is still lacking. Inter have to make a path of growth and there needs to be time and patience as haste does not lead to anywhere. An important gap has been filled but there is still things needing done.

“Inter and Napoli can get back into the race for the Scudetto. I didn’t see a team that gave up after the goal, but a mentally strong team that reacted and after 100 days it wasn’t easy. ”

Paganin then reflected on Christian Eriksen’s performance: “I liked him, he did very well. I was amazed at the initial choice of Antonio Conte to put him in the midfield.”

Paganin joined Inter in the Summer of 1993 from Brescia and spent the next four years with the club before departing for Bologna.

During his time with the club, the former centre back made 152 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored two goals and provided a single assist for his teammates. He won a single trophy whilst with the club in the UEFA Cup in 1994.

French Media Claim Inter Looking At Young Nimes Goalkeeper Amjhad Nazih

Inter are among a host of clubs keen on signing promising goalkeeper Amjad Nazih according to a report from the French edition of Goal.com.

In the past few hours Inter have enquired about the French youth national team goalkeeper who is currently on the books of Ligue 1 side Nimes Olympique.

Inter are not the only club interested in signing the shot-stopper, who holds dual French and Moroccan nationality, with the report also highlighting that Bundesliga sides Schalke and RB Leipzig are also keen on him.

The 18-year-old is yet to sign a professional contract with his current employers thus meaning Inter could acquire him on a free transfer. Nimes Olympique could however soon offer him a professional deal and they could do so in the coming weeks.

Nazih has yet to make his first team debut for Nimes Olympique but was on the bench for their 5-0 Coupe de Ligue defeat to Dijon back in January.

Inter Owned Ivan Perisic’s Agents In Talks With Tottenham In Case Bayern Munich Transfer Collapses

The agents of Inter owned Croatian winger are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to prepare for a back-up plan should a permanent transfer to Bayern Munich collapse, Italian media outlet FcInterNews report.

According to the report, Inter and Bayern intend to conclude a deal for the Croatian international winger despite the fact that time has run on the €20 million option the Bavarian’s had to sign him permanently.

This is, the report continues, due to the fact the Bayern do not wish to sign anyone permanently this upcoming transfer window due to the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, they have asked Inter to loan him over another season, something the Nerazzurri have declined, prompting Bayern to offer €10 million to sign him outright. Inter have not received this well but can consider accepting an offer around €15 million, as talks continue.

So although it is likely that a deal for Perisic could most likely be concluded, the player’s agents want to have a back-up plan and have therefore contacted Tottenham, where José Mourinho would welcome him with open arms.

Ivan Perisic joined Inter in the summer of 2015 from VFL Wolfsburg in a deal reportedly worth €16 million and has since then featured 163 times across all competitions for the Nerazzurri scoring 40 goals in the process.

He joined Bayern Munich on a season long loan last summer and has since joining them featured 29 times across all competitions scoring 6 goals in the process.

German Media Report PSG Join Inter In Race To Sign Bayern Munich’s David Alaba

Newly crowned French champions Paris Saint-Germain are hot on the trails of Bayern Munich’s Austrian international utility man David Alaba, according to a report by German broadcaster Sky Sport Deutschland, aired moments ago.

According to the report, talks between Bayern over a contract extension are on standby as Alaba is asking for €15 million gross per season. Given the financial effects of the COVID-19 crisis, this is not a financial undertaking that Bayern are too keen on taking on.

This has, the report continues, prompted PSG director Leonardo to ignite an interest in Alaba who Inter have been linked to recently, as coach Antonio Conte wants reinforcements in that area of the pitch.

The Austrian player, born in 1992, came up the youth ranks at Bayern and has played for the Bavarian giants all his career, baring a 6 month spell on loan at Hoffenheim in 2011.

So far he has featured 379 times across all competitions for Bayern Munich scoring 30 goals in the process and his current contract expires at the end of June 2021.

The report goes on to explain that former Italian national team boss Conte also hammered the team for the goal that was conceded and he shared his belief to the team that it was an absolutely avoidable goal for them to concede.
