Italian Journalist Mario Sconcerti: “Antonio Conte Should Rethink, There’s No Freedom At Inter”

Noted Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti has shared his belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte has his Inter side too organised and this is why the team struggle, especially in big matches.

“Conte should rethink things. He built an excellent team but that is not enough. If we are looking for something that will make Inter grow, we must necessarily cross examine his work,” he began an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com, a few days on from Inter crashing out of the Coppa Italia.

“Does he have good players? I think so. We spent months illustrating the talents of Lukaku, Lautaro, Barella, Sensi, Eriksen, De Vrij, Skriniar, Handanovic, Brozovic. It is difficult to think about how to improve in this regard. Credit must be given to Marotta, Ausilio and Conte.”

Sconcerti then went on to share why he thinks the Nerazzurri struggle.

“What is the limit of the team? Why does Inter lose every time they come up against a strong opponent? I believe there is too much Conte in this team, too many orders, too many fixed patterns, too much militarisation.

“Tactical discipline applies if it becomes an organisation and organisation applies if it improves the qualities of individuals.”

Sconcerti concluded the interview by reiterating his belief that Inter have quality players in their side and suggested that Conte should take a step back.

“At Inter it’s time to slow down, the instinct for individual football is almost completely stifled. There is no freedom. For fear of free interpretation, commandments are preferred and it suffocates everything. Inter have excellent players but are missing individuality. Conte should try and take a step back.”

Conte took charge of Inter this past Summer and has almost exclusively played a 3-5-2 system throughout the campaign although he did deploy the team in a 3-4-1-2 this past weekend, a system which definitely got more out of January transfer window recruit Christian Eriksen.

Conte has managed Inter in 38 games across all competitions to date. He has won 22 of them, lost seven and drawn the remaining nine fixtures.

Jose Mourinho: “My Favorite Defeat Is Barcelona vs Inter In The 2010 Champions League Semifinal”

In an interview with Chinese news outlet Hupu.com, former Inter manager Jose Mourinho has reflected on his time spent as manager of the club.

Mourinho took charge of Inter in 2008 following his first spell in charge of Chelsea and had two highly successful years in charge of the Nerazzurri.

In his first season in charge, Mourinho led Inter to the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana. In his second season with the club, he led them to a historic treble which consisted of the Serie A title, Coppa Italia and Champions League.

“Winning the treble with Inter was honestly the perfect puzzle because I was happy for so many reasons,” Mourinho explained in the interview.

“It wasn’t just because of the incredible treble but there was also the relationship with the players, with the owner and all those who worked with me. For me it was an incredible period with a fantastic emotional level.”

“If I have to choose my favorite defeat, I will choose a game I lost but one I won at the same time, the semifinal Barcelona vs Inter in the Champions League in 2010. Because this was a game that was more than simply about football.

“It was a match where we demonstrate what the important factors are needed in the soul of a team, the importance of a team’s spirit, the importance of strength and solidarity. These are things that are very important in a team sport like football.”

During his two years in charge of Inter, he managed Inter in 108 games across all competitions, of which he won 67.

The Portuguese tactician is currently in charge of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and since leaving Inter at the end of the 2009/10 season he has also had spells in charge of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Italian Media Claim Unlikely Inter Trio D’Ambrosio, Godin & Vecino To Be Fit In Time For Sampdo ria Clash

Inter trio Danilo D’Ambrosio, Diego Godin and Matias Vecino’s conditions will all be evaluated by Inter medical staff ahead of this weekend’s match at home to Sampdoria according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

All three players missed this past weekend’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg draw away to Napoli due to injury problems and it remains to be seen whether they will be available to Inter manager Antonio Conte for the match against La Samp.

The report from the Turin based news outlet does however warn that at this stage it appears difficult for all of the players to recover in time.

This weekend’s Serie A match will be Inter’s first in over three months due to the fact Serie A was put on hold due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Inter head into the game in third place whilst Sampdoria are in 16th place and are just one point clear of the relegation zone.

Italian Report Highlight How 3-4-1-2 Is Best Lineup For Inter To Get The Best From Christian Eriksen

Inter could use a 3-4-1-2 system more often following its usage in this past weekend’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg draw away to Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter swapped from their tried and tested 3-5-2 system for the match at the Stadio San Paolo and although Inter failed to win the match, the 3-4-1-2 system proved to be the best system to get the best out of January transfer window recruit Christian Eriksen.

The Danish national team player scored Inter’s only goal of the game, directly from a corner, and put in his best performance to date in an Inter shirt since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur.

It now remains to be seen if Eriksen can make a similar impact in the league, which is due to resume this coming weekend having been on hold for over three months due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Since his arrival, Eriksen has made nine appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided a single assist.

Italian Media Report Inter Worried By Lautaro Martinez’s Recent Poor Form Amid Barcelona Links

Lautaro Martinez’s recent poor form has Inter worried according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily news outlet Corriere dello Sport.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a potential move to Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window and Inter fear that his recent bad form could impact their ability to demand that Lautaro’s €111 million release clause is paid.

The Argentine national team player has failed to find the back of the net in any of his past six games across all competitions for the club and reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that he is at risk of losing his place in the starting line-up.

Lautaro, who has a contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date this term. In his time on the park, which totals just over 2500 minutes, he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists for his teammates.

5 Classic Inter Shirts Every Collector Must Own

Football shirt collecting has become a worldwide phenomenon over the last 20 years with fans young and old seeking to collect unique, rare, and cool looking tops. Websites such as Classic Football Shirts and The Kitman deal in modern and retro shirts allowing fans to collect jerseys from around the globe.

Inter have had some iconic kits over the years with fans and non-fans of the club buying shirts for their collections. Inter return to Serie A play versus Sampdoria to resume the season and will continue their Nike kit era. Supporters can visit RF365 ahead of the match to receive a bet bonus before wagering on the team they believe will win the fixture.

1. The New Millennium – 2000-01

The 2000-01 season kicked off with Inter wearing some very dark shaded shirts. The blue was a darker shade than what had seen in the early to mid-1990s. Produced by Nike, the kit didn’t help the Nerazzurri much on the pitch as the club went through two different managers and ended the campaign in fifth place.

Inter sit third in the current Serie A table and can still reach the top spot with 13 games to play. Serie A fans can join here to get the latest bet bonus before Inter return to play against Sampdoria at San Siro.

2. 100 Years Of Inter – 2008-09

Inter celebrated their centenary in 2008-09 and welcomed first-year manager Jose Mourinho to the club. The shirt was predominantly blue with just two black vertical stripes on the front and back. A V-neck collar was used along with gold lettering and trim.

3. The Fiorucci Influence – 1992-95

The early 1990s saw Inter decked out in Umbro produced shirts with the logo from Italian food company Fiorucci scrawled across them. The shirts had a lighter blue shade which made the black show up even more than usual. The Fiorucci lettering font blended well with the shirt and made it look even more attractive. The club won the 1993-94 UEFA Cup while wearing the classic shirts.

4. The Treble – 2009-10

The 2009-10 shirt produced by Nike will be long remembered by Inter fans. Under the management of Mourinho, the club won the UEFA Champions League, Coppa Italia, and Serie A. It was Mourinho’s second and final season at the club before joining Real Madrid. The shirt had little flair featuring a simple rounded neck that matched the sleeves. It was simple, yet looked great on the biggest stage of football.

5. End of an era – 1997-98

Ronaldo-1024x576.jpg

Nike has produced Inter’s kits for the last 22 years and a generation of supporters have grown up seeing the Nerazzurri play in shirts featuring the sports brand’s tick. Before Nike came along, Umbro was Inter’s kit producer and the 1997-98 shirt was the last of the company’s era working with the club. It is difficult to think of these shirts without recalling Ronaldo and the magic produced at San Siro. He scored 25 goals in 32 Serie A matches. The shirt itself was classic with a collar and the Inter badge adorning the centre of the chest.

Italian Media Highlight How Inter Have Made Minimal Improvement Under Conte Compared To Spalletti

Inter’s improvement under Antonio Conte has only been minimal compared to last season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Looking at points in the table alone, the improvement has been concrete in this regard compared to last year as Inter seem far more certain of achieving a Champions League place sooner than the last day of the season, as has been the case in each of the past two seasons under Spalletti.

Inter’s only hope of winning a trophy this term is by winning the Europa League in August and the report from the Turin based news outlet does not even mention Inter as possible candidates to win the Serie A title this term.

The report also states that it must be remembered that Spalletti had to deal with the Mauro Icardi saga from February onward last year whilst Inter had the biggest transfer window in club history ahead of this season.

Will Bayern Munich Loanee Ivan Perisic Return To Inter For Next Season?

Ivan Perisic has blown hot and cold at Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich this season. The Croatia, who moved to the Allianz Arena for a €5 million loan fee last summer, has appeared in 20 Bundesliga games recording four goals and five assists.

While the numbers are decent, Bayern Munich have balked at paying Inter €20m more to make Perisic’s move permanent. Bayern coach Hansi Flick recently reiterated his desire for another wide player leading to speculation that Manchester City’s Leroy Sane is on his way to Munich.

With Bayern Munich interested in other wide players, Perisic could be the odd man out leaving Inter needing to find a new home for the Croatian winger. Inter’s return to Serie A play is around the corner with Sampdoria the first team on tap. The Nerzzaurri are fighting to reel in Juventus and Lazio, and supporters can use the DraftKings promo code to receive a bet bonus before wagering on the team they believe will win at San Siro.

Does Perisic’s Play Warrant A Permanent Contract From Bayern?

Perisic’s contract at Inter extends until 2022 which will make him 33-years-old by the time the deal expires. Valued at £15m by Transfermarkt, Inter would be right to move him on before the value decreases further. Although a reported “gentlemen’s agreement” has been made over the winger, the German giants wouldn’t be wrong for declining their €20m option and seek to invest that money elsewhere.

Inter still have 13 matches to play in Serie A this season and with 39 more points at stake, could reel in Juventus. Supporters can follow Inter’s remaining matches and get a bet bonus for their favourite betting site before the team’s next game. Fans can then use that bonus code to bet on Inter when they return to the pitch.

The on-loan winger averages just 54.3 minutes per Bundesliga fixture at Bayern Munich. Fitness and form have been the key reasons that Perisic’s average league minutes are not higher. He has missed 10 Bundesliga fixtures due to suspension, injury, or simply not being picked; and has gone from a player that couldn’t be benched at Inter into a player that makes cameo appearances at Bayern. Just four times out of 20 appearances has Perisic completed a full 90 minutes.

Inter’s Perisic Options

If Bayern do look elsewhere in the offseason, then what for Inter and Perisic? Conte is not high on Perisic and considers him an unreliable player of Inter’s past. The Croatian has been grouped with Mauro Icardi, Joao Mario, and Radja Nainggolan as a player that Conte cannot or will not work with.

Therefore, Inter’s only option is to sell the winger. They may have to renegotiate the €20m option with Bayern to get him off the books. There is hope that Inter could move Perisic on to a Premier League side. Manchester United have long been rumoured as an admirer, meanwhile Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur is also claimed to be tracking the player.

The price and Perisic’s age, 30-years-old, could be detrimental factors in Inter’s attempts to shift him permanently. The talent is still there but with injuries and form keeping Perisic out of Bayern’s team this season, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could think twice before splurging on him.
