Felipe Melo: “I Would’ve Liked To Play For Real Madrid But Still Managed To Play For Inter”

Former Inter midfielder Felipe Melo has admitted that he had hoped to join Inter rather than arch rivals Juventus back in the Summer of 2009 from fellow Serie A side Fiorentina.

“I would’ve liked to play for Real Madrid, but I still managed to play for Inter. When I was at Fiorentina, I remember Inter calling me,” he remarked in an interview with the online edition of Spanish news outlet AS.

“I wanted to go to Inter, not Juve. But ultimately Juve paid the clause and I went there. For that, I thank Juve very much because I got to know the Juventus world.”

The tough tackling Brazilian midfielder, who eventually got his move to Inter in 2015 from Turkish Super Lig side Galatsaray, then spoke on his exit from Inter in 2017, when he returned back to his home country to play for Palmeiras, where he remains to this day.

“They wanted to renew my contract, but I returned to Brazil because I won there when nobody knew me. I had the dream of returning and winning the championship like the new Felipe Melo, this time in the role of protagonist. I left Inter and went to Palmeiras to win and make history.”

During his 18 month stint with the Nerazzurri, Melo made 38 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he scored a single goal and also provided a single assist for his teammates.

36-year-old Melo’s career began with Brazilian powerhouses Flamengo back in 2001 and aside from the clubs mentioned above, he can count Gremio, Mallorca, Racing Santander and UD Almeria among his former clubs.

Rigoberto Rivas’ Agent: “He Wants To Stay At Reggina, It Depends On Inter”

Rigoberto Rivas’ agent Riccardo Pacini has admitted that his client hopes to be able to extend his stay with Reggina past the end of this season.

The Honduran national team player joined the Serie C club on a season long loan this past Summer and although he has only played semi-regularly this term, the 21-year-old wishes to remain with the club.

“Rivas’ desire is to stay in Reggio Calabria, we are looking for the right solution with Massimo Taibi to find an agreement,” Pacini remarked in an interview with Reggina’s official club broadcaster Reggina TV yesterday afternoon.

“We are happy to have won the league and happy with the project and hope he can continue here. It will depend on Inter and it is necessary to understand if a new loan could happen.”

This season Rivas, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2021/22 season, has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date.

In his time on the park, which totals just over 900 minutes, Rivas has scored two goals and has provided a total of four assists for his teammates.

Rivas joined Inter at youth level back initially on loan in the Summer of 2016 and he was bought outright the following Summer. He has not played a first team game for Inter though having spent every season out on loan since joining permanently.

Samuel Eto’o On Man Utd Owned Inter Loanee Alexis Sanchez: “Can Make The Difference”

Former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o has sang the praises of current Inter forward Alexis Sanchez despite the difficulties the Chilean has endured this season.

“Alexis has been unlucky this season because of that injury but the quality that he has is not up for discussion,” Eto’o began an interview with Chilean news outlet CDF Noticias.

The former Cameroonian international then went on to state what he thinks is great about Sanchez, who is currently on loan at Inter from Premier League side Manchester United.

“He is a player who can make a difference at all times. He is a different kind of forward, of movement and is lethal in one on one situations.

“It is normal that it will take time for him to get bac to his best because he arrived at Inter following a period at United where he did not play much.”

Eto’o concluded his praise of the former Barcelona player by adding: “He has different skills, someone like him is always comfortable at clubs like Inter.”

Since his arrival at Inter on a season long loan, Sanchez has made 15 appearances across all competitions but has not exactly performed to expectations with an ankle injury early on sidelining him for a considerable amount of time.

In his time on the park, Sanchez has scored one goal and provided three assists and recent reports in the media have stated that there is a chance he could remain with Inter past the end of this season.

Inter Could Move For Malang Sarr In Coming Months

Inter could make a move for OGC Nice defender Malang Sarr in the coming months according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

The 21-year-old centre back’s contract with the Ligue 1 side is due to expire at the end of this month thus meaning Inter could sign him on a free transfer to bolster their defensive department.

Highly rated Sarr is a product of OGC Nice’s academy and he has been part of the first team since 2016. Despite his young age, Sarr has already made 119 appearances across all competitions for the club.

This season he has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date and in his time on the park he has contributed a single goal.
