Physical Conditions Of Inter Duo Godin & Vecino To Be Assessed Before Napoli Coppa Italia Clash

The conditions of both Diego Godin and Matias Vecino are to be assessed ahead of Inter’s upcoming Coppa Italia semi final second leg match against Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The duo have been dealing with muscle problems as of late and it remains to be seen whether or not they will be recovered and at the disposal of Inter manager Antonio Conte or not.

Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij, who have both also been dealing with muscle problems as of late, will have recovered and will be available. If they are unable to start for whatever reason, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Andrea Ranocchia will be ready to fill in for them.

The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to state that the ability to now use five substitutions per game could be an extra weapon for Conte, who will be able to demand the maximum from the starters for the first hour of play and will be able to change half of the outfielders if he wishes to do so.

Beppe Marotta: “Leaving Inter? Fake News, We’ll Decide Nainggolan’s Future After Season”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has refused to rule out the possibility of Inter winning the Serie A title this season.

As things stand Inter find themselves nine points adrift of league leaders Juventus and have a game in hand on their arch rivals.

“We have to start with the same will and determination that we had at the beginning of the season that brought important results. There are still 13 games to be played and many points available, anything can happen,” he began the interview.

Next Marotta rubbished recent reports in the media which suggested he was pondering leaving Inter after 18 months with the club.

“Honestly it’s fake news, I’m very happy at Inter, I have no reason to complain. As long as I am motivated, I will continue to be satisfied with great pleasure. I hope to be able to gain satisfaction in terms of trophies.”

He then moved on to speak about Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with a move to reigning La Liga champions Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

“We want to strengthen the team, within which there is Lautaro, an interesting young man who is becoming a champion with thanks to Conte, the support of the club and himself.

“Inter, like all the big clubs, does not tend to sell, but there is a release clause that expires on July 7, let’s see what Barcelona want to do, then we will meet with them. Today we are counting on the player to give his contribution to the team.”

He then went on and dismissed the idea that the line Inter have taken with transfers is down to him.

“The Marotta line does not exist, there is an Inter project that consists in creating a model where you try to have the right mix between young and old.”

Marotta proceeded to discuss the recent sale of former Inter captain Mauro Icardi to Paris Saint-Germain for a total of €58 million including add-ons.

“It was a very positive deal. PSG exercised their option to sign him after we gave them a discount. All parties are satisfied and we are all happy and content.”

He was then asked about what the future could hold for Radja Nainggolan, who is set to return from his loan with fellow Serie A side Cagliari.

“We want to enhance our assets and Nainggolan is an important resource. Once the loan at Cagliari is over, he will come back to us and we will evaluate what his future will be.”

Italian Media Highlight Inter Coach Conte To Rely On Lukaku In Coppa Italia Clash Vs Napoli

Inter manager Antonio Conte will heavily rely upon Romelu Lukaku to deliver in this coming weekend’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg match against Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Last time Inter faced off against Napoli in Naples, the Belgian national team was pivotal with his brace helping Inter to secure a 3-1 victory, which was Inter’s first win at the Stadio San Paolo in a considerable amount of time.

Conte is hoping that Lukaku and the team can repeat the performance and result from that match on Saturday evening.

The former Italian national team manager is well aware that Lukaku could take some time to get going again due to his size and it remains to be seen if he will be able to hit the ground running after a long time without playing.

Inter head into this match needing to overturn a 1-0 defeat in the first leg if they wish to reach the Coppa Italia final were they will play either Juventus or AC Milan.

Inter Manager Conte To Use 3-4-1-2 System Against Napoli This Weekend

Inter manager Antonio Conte will deploy his side in a 3-4-1-2 system in this weekend’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg match-up with Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Despite using a 3-5-2 system for the majority of the season, the former Italian national team boss is to change his system up to take on the Partenopei, who currently hold a 1-0 lead in the tie.

One of the main reasons for the system change is to allow Christian Eriksen to play in his natural role as an attacking midfielder and he will play in that role in behind Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Despite carrying muscle problems at the moment, the Rome based newspaper believe that both Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij will be recovered and available for the match.

Probable Inter starting line-up (3-4-1-2): Samir Handanovic; Milan Skriniar, Stefan De Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni; Antonio Candreva, Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella, Ashley Young; Christian Eriksen; Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez.

Inter CEO Marotta: “Don’t Want To Sell Lautaro Martinez But If Needed We’ll Replace Him With A Top Player”

In a long interview with Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta spoke on a range of Inter related topics and started by discussing Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with Barcelona.

“It is difficult to discuss his future right now but I have something to say to him. Stay focused on the present, there is a season that is set to resume, there are objectives to be hit,” he began the interview which appeared on the online edition of the Milan based news outlet.

“There is no desire to sell Lautaro. He is young and is a functional element for Conte but then of course there is a release clause.

“What happens once it expires?I don’t know what Barcelona think, maybe they will also have alternatives but I hope they do not pay the clause. In the event of a farewell, a great player will come in to replace Lautaro.

He was then asked if a signing as big as the signing of Romelu Lukaku last Summer could be repeated if Lautaro does indeed depart the club.

“As I said before, if Lautaro goes, a top player will arrive. In the upcoming market, at European level, the real difficulty will not be having to buy, but being able to sell.

“We are not in a hurry. I understand the desire for names, but we have to wait for the seasons to end and the clubs to be able to make future plans. One thing I will say though is in general, Neymar-style deals will not be seen again for many years.”

He was then asked about the continous links Inter have drawn in the media to Edinson Cavani and whether the Uruguayan is close to joining or not.

“He is one of the opportunities, he is being monitored as he is a footballer with an expiring contract but we have not gone into the matter any further. At the moment he is quite far from Inter.”

Marotta was then asked about Inter’s reported pursuit of both Brescia’s Sandro Tonali and Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa.

“I cannot hide the fact that they are two talents. Fiorentina has high demands for Chiesa, which is why we have not started talks with them. Commisso wants €70 million for him? Maybe even more.

“Tonali is more affordable and a deal for him could be built better, he is a boy who is still growing.”

Next he spoke on the recent sale of former club captain Mauro Icardi to Paris Saint-Germain.

“We done good, it was a very difficult deal. This deal was done in a difficult period from a financial point of view. It is needless to think about yesterday, let alone tomorrow. The agreement we reached satisfies us today. We made a choice last year and we respected it now.”

Marotta then proceeded to discuss Inter January transfer window recruit Christian Eriksen and whether the Inter team will be built around him.

“The Dane is a jewel and a great player. Conte is the conductor and he is the one who must create the right tactical balance in the team. The next two months are indicative for getting to know each other better. It applies to the player and also to Conte.”

He was then asked whether Inter will start on a par with arch rivals Juventus next season.

“I don’t look at others. With thanks to Conte, we have grown on a cultural and sporting level. There is no need to set limits and the bar should be raised. We are carrying out Suning’s mission and we want to win.”

Next Marotta discussed the Coppa Italia.

“We see it in front of us, even if at the moment a bit from a distance. We must try to win that trophy.”

He was penultimately asked whether he thinks the team have what it takes to win the Serie A title this season.

“The team are very busy in training and I was pleased by this. In such an anomalous league, anything can happen. We know the strength of our opponents but we must have ambition. We will also need favourable circumstances such as not having injuries at key moments.”

In conclusion he was asked what personal desires he wishes to fulfil in the remainder of his career.

“Retire with some more trophies won. At Inter, of course.”

Nerazzurri Treble Hero Diego Milito: “Lautaro Martinez Would Be Happier If He Stayed At Inter”

Legendary Inter striker Diego Milito has shared his belief that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has what it takes to be able to play for any club in the world.

The highly rated 22-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window and several other clubs have also been linked with him too, including a number of Premier League clubs.

“Lautaro can play in any team in the world,” he began an interview with Argentine news outlet Infobae.

“He is a fantastic striker. A great boy, to whom I am very attached. I am happy for him. I think he would be happier at Inter, but if he has to go to Barcelona I wish him the best.”

Milito then went on to discuss how he came to wear the number 22 shirt and what Jose Mourinho did to ensure he could wear it at Inter too.

“It came randomly. At Zaragoza I had to choose between 2 and 22, an attacker would never take 2. I arrived at Genoa and it was free and when I arrived at Inter the third goalkeeper Orlandoni had it but Mourinho told me that he would take care of it and asked him to change numbers.”

The former Argentine national team striker then went on to speak about what it was like to work under the Portuguese manager.

“He’s extraordinary. People outside see it from afar and have a wrong image of what José is as a person and as a coach. He’s one of the best I’ve had without a doubt.”

Milito joined Inter in the Summer of 2009 from fellow Serie A club Genoa and spent the next six seasons with the club before departing for Racing Club.

Whilst at Inter, Milito made 171 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he scored 75 goals and provided 29 assists for his teammates.

Ex-Inter Director Paolillo On Interest In Chiesa: “I’d Give Fiorentina Nainggolan & Dalbert”

Former Inter director Ernesto Paolillo has revealed who he would be willing to send to Fiorentina as part of a deal for Federico Chiesa.

Inter have long been linked with a move for the highly rated 22-year-old Italian national team player, who Fiorentina reportedly value at €70 million, a figure that Paolillo believes is correct for a player of Chiesa’s quality.

“Inter are ahead of Juventus? As a Nerazzurri fan, that can only make me happy,” Paolillo remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet FirenzeViola.it.

“Of course, I admit that €70 million is a high figure however it is perfectly suited to Chiesa. Italian talents like him can be counted on the fingers of one hand and it is right that he is valued as a rare commodity.

“If Federico were to come to Inter, Antonio Conte’s team would become a true Italian colony and this would give the squad an extra value.”

He then went on to discuss the players that he would be willing to exchange with Fiorentina to land Chiesa if he were still at Inter.

“The first two that come to my mind are Radja Nainggolan and Dalbert. Nainggolan will return to Milan after his loan at Cagliari and is destined to leave again because he is not part of Conte’s plans.

“Dalbert is already in Florence and I think he had a decent first half of the season. Of course the values of the two players alone will not equate to the value of Chiesa but they can certainly be an incentive to conclude the deal.”

Chiesa, who has a contract with Fiorentina through to the end of the 2021/22 season, has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date this season.

During his time on the park, Chiesa, who has also been strongly linked with Juventus and many Premier League clubs, has scored seven goals and provided a total of five assists for his teammates.

It does however remain to be seen what will happen with him upon his return to the Nerazzurri with contrasting reports currently circulating in the media.

Some reports state Inter will sell Nainggolan or try and use him as part of a deal for another player whilst others have suggested that there is a chance that he could be reintegrated into the Nerazzurri squad, a year on from being considered out of the project.
