Photo – Inter Wingback Asamoah Wishes Followers Great Weekend

Inter wingback Kwadwo Asamoah wished his followers a great weekend with a post on his Twitter page yesterday.

The 31-year-old Ghanaian, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2021, has made 11 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 899 minutes. In that time, he has provided one assist, struggling to earn consistent playing time after suffering from a knee injury.

The player isn’t a core part of coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system and is likely to find even more limited playing time after the permanent signing of Ashley Young.

Have a great weekend ahead! ☀👊🏿pic.twitter.com/oyioZndcid

Inter Linked Gaetano Castrovilli: “Flattered But Only Focused On Fiorentina”

Inter linked Gaetano Castrovilli discussed his future, the rumours tying him to big clubs like the Nerazzurri and his feelings about Fiorentina in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere del Mezzogiorno as reported by Italian media outlet FcInterNews earlier today.

“I am honoured by this interest, but I have to grow more and more. I’m a very proud and determined guy, I want to think only about Fiorentina and live every moment to the fullest. Florence is my second home. I have always loved this city and now that it combines work, and above all love, I can only be fascinated by it even more. I thank the fans, who have always supported me, and I promise to always give my best.”

Castrovilli has impressed with the Florence based club this season, linking up well in the midfield with talismanic forward Federico Chiesa and veteran Franck Ribery. The 23-year-old Italian, who is contracted to the Viola until 2024, has made 26 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2203 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided two assists, being a core part of the club’s midfield.

Inter are looking to strengthen their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window, in order to continue their path toward a fully competitive squad that has closed the gap with Juventus. One aspect the Milanese club are looking to add to is their core group of young Italian talents, with Castrovilli fitting the bill alongside players like Stefano Sensi and Nicolo Barella.

Alexis Sanchez May Be Unable To Finish Season With Man United After Loan With Inter Expires

Inter forward Alexis Sanchez may not be eligible to play for Manchester United after his loan deal with the Nerazzurri expires on the 31st June, according to a report from English tabloid the Daily Mail earlier today.

The report details how the 31-year-old Chilean forward joined the Nerazzurri on loan from the Red Devils last summer. It was a simple dry loan and Inter have no intention of signing the player permanently, in part due to his incredibly high wages, and so he will return to England when his loan deal expires, at the end of June.

Inter could still reach an agreement with Manchester United to keep Sanchez until the end of the season, the report continues, which would allow the 31-year-old to finish out the season, rather than sit on the sidelines in England. Sanchez is in the same situation as English defender Chris Smalling, who is currently on loan at Roma in the same boat as his former teammate. The Premier League haven’t come to a final decision yet.

Alvaro Recoba: “Lautaro Martinez Leaving Inter For Barcelona? Spanish Clubs Financially Stronger”

Former Inter forward Alvaro Recoba discussed his time with Inter and his relationship with the Nerazzurri fans in an interview with Argentine media outlet Fox Sports Argentina earlier today.

“When I have to return to Italy, people still hold me in high esteem. I spent almost ten years at Inter and the affection for this club is always the same. It was a time when Italian football was really in vogue, when a player who had to go to Europe was thinking first and foremost of Serie A.”

The 44-year-old Uruguayan touched on how Serie A was filled with some of the most exciting players in the world at that time.

“I was lucky enough to be there at that time and to have incredible team-mates and opponents like Crespo, Adriano, Batistuta, Totti, Zidane, Shevchenko, Del Piero. Today Italian football has changed, that was the era in which it was the most popular.”

He discussed why Serie A has fallen behind some of the other top leagues in Europe, like England’s Premier League or Spain’s La Liga.

“There is first of all an economic factor, in England, for example, there are clubs bought by great tycoons, Barcelona is an institution of world football. Pep Guardiola’s team has made a before and after in the history of football. Italy believed itself to be at the centre of the world but now it isn’t anymore, other countries have grown. Then players of international level were no longer born, perhaps Italy lacks a bit of humility. I think they need to ask themselves some questions and understand what’s wrong to return to the football that there was.”

Recoba highlighted how Inter striker Lautaro Martinez may leave to join Barcelona in part due to the higher level of the Spanish league compared to the Italian one.

“Today, leagues like the Spanish and English ones have surpassed the Italian one. I’d rather see a Spanish football match today, although today in Serie A there’s a team like Atalanta that I like the way they play. Unfortunately, there’s a lack of players who can give you magic and excitement. If economically the clubs are not strong, Barcelona or another club can come and take Lautaro away, because the Spanish and English clubs are richer than the Italian ones.”

Finally, Recoba talked about his compatriot, Inter linked forward Edinson Cavani, whose contract is expiring with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season.

“You have to see if he wants to go back to South America or to stay in Europe. Players like him and Luis Suarez can be as good anywhere, at Barcelona or PSG or at Inter. Then I think a player’s career has gotten longer, today at 33-34 you’re no longer considered an old player. For me they won’t come back, if I had the chance, I’d tell them not to come back.”

Recoba spent 11 years of his career with the Nerazzurri, from 1997 to 2008. In that time, the Uruguayan forward made 261 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 14,343 minutes. In that period, he scored 71 goals and provided 29 assists.

Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso On Inter & Juventus Target Chiesa: “He Can Leave If He Wants But Only At Right Price”

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso discussed the future of two Inter linked players, Federico Chiesa and Gaetano Castrovilli, in an interview earlier today when talking at a press conference. His words were noted by Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

“The guys must remain focused for these last 12 games. I’ve already said that if Chiesa wants to go it’s enough for them to pay the amount we demand.”

He then moved onto talking about another player linked with the Nerazzurri, Castrovilli. The 23-year-old Italian is contracted to the Viola until 2024, after signing a new deal before Christmas.

“Castrovilli is different. He’s happy and wants to stay here in Florence, as he told me. As long as he doesn’t disappoint me! I’d like to give him the number ten shirt and Giancarlo Antognoni would be happy too.”

Inter and Juventus are both incredibly keen to sign the 22-year-old Chiesa, who is contracted to the Viola until 2022. Commisso has been working hard to try and convince the Italian forward to stay in Florence, but now is prepared to let the talismanic player leave in the summer, should the right offer arrive. The deal will be expensive but Inter are hoping to fund it with the proceeds of the sale of Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona. Chiesa has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances this season.

Italian Media Reports Borja Valero Could Return To Fiorentina After Contract With Inter Expires This Summer

Inter midfielder Borja Valero could return to his former club Fiorentina in the summer, after his contract expires with the Nerazzurri, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier today.

The report details how the 35-year-old Spanish midfielder’s contract will expire with the Milanese club, after three years in the Lombard capital. A contract renewal seems unlikely at this point for Valero, especially considering the packed midfield department at Inter and the transfer targets Inter are currently considering, namely Sandro Tonali, whom the Nerazzurri are close to securing a deal for.

Valero could return to Florence to play for his former club Fiorentina, the report continues. The Viola fans still appreciate the 35-year-old Spaniard and would be happy for him to return to the club. Valero spent five years of his career with Fiorentina before joining Inter in 2017. He made 212 appearances across all competitions in that time, scoring 17 goals and providing 45 assists in that time.
