Inter & Juventus Target Sandro Tonali: “AC Milan Didn’t Really Consider Me”

Inter target Sandro Tonali discussed his playstyle, his passion for football and his admiration of former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso in an interview in today’s print edition of the Italian magazine Sportweek.

First, he discussed the comments made by Andrea Pirlo, who said that Tonali was much more complete than he was.

“Let’s say that Pirlo gave the right answer! We don’t play like each other. But to say that I’m a more complete player than he was…

“When two of my friends sent me the Instagram live, in which he said that, I stayed still. And I’m still speechless now. All I can say to him is, thank you.”

The 20-year-old Italian touched on the similarities between himself and Pirlo on the pitch.

“I’d rather say what I’d like to learn from him. The long pass from deep, accurate to within a millimetre. I’m better at short passes today. Which, to tell you the truth, comes even more natural to me than the long pass.”

Tonali commented on his passion for football and whether it was passed onto him by his family.

“More like the city, Sant’Angelo Lodigiano lives off football. I used to go to the stadium and there were always a thousand people, even in the third division. Enrico, my brother did the rest. From there my climb to the top of the mountain started.”

The Brescia midfielder discussed how AC Milan snubbed the player when he was a young boy.

“Lombardia Uno was associated with Milan. Every two or three months five or six children were called to Vismara, where the club’s youngsters train. I can’t say that they rejected me, they didn’t really take me into consideration. Maybe I was too young.”

He spoke about his admiration of Gattuso, who he has a similar playstyle to.

“I was struck by his grit and generosity. Had he divided his inner determination by ten, there would have been enough left to fill all his teammates. He was afraid of no one.”

He revealed who his current idol was.

“Luka Modric.”

Tonali touched on whether he would rather play as a box to box midfielder or a deeplying playmaker, two roles which he has experience playing in.

“You know what? I don’t know. I like them both. It depends on how the opponent is lined up, against a 4-4-2 I have more space like a mezzala, if I have a trequartista in front of me I like to be in front of the defence because, a part from him, I have an open pitch in front of me.”

The Inter target then discussed what his childhood dream was.

“To become a footballer. I also asked for it in a letter addressed to Saint Lucia. I gave her a choice, either a footballer or a saint.”

Tonali spoke about his teammate Mario Balotelli and whether he thinks the former Manchester City striker is a ‘wasted talent.’

“No, I look at him and I stop at ‘what a talent’. In training he does things that very few people can do. Why ‘wasted’? He played for big teams, he scored a lot of goals, he won.”

Finally, Tonali spoke about his future and whether he would be a big player.

“There’s never anything certain, I’ve achieved half of what I have in my mind, but I feel strong enough to make it. I’m on the right track.”

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has already been in contact with Emerson’s agent, the report continues, and the Bianconeri are ahead of the Nerazzurri due to the excellent relationship between the Turin based club and the Blues.

Juventus Target Tonali Accepts Move To Inter Who Must Now Find Agreement With Brescia

Italian starlet Sandro Tonali has accepted a move to Inter but the Nerazzurri now must reach an agreement with Brescia, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the 20-year-old Italian midfielder, who is contracted to the Lombard club until 2022, has accepted a move to the Nerazzurri, wanting to be a part of coach Antonio Conte’s project at the club.

Brescia are asking for €50 million for the player’s signature, a high number considering the current financial climate, which has been heavily affected by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Inter will try to secure Tonali’s signature before rivals Juventus take over the deal, the report continues. The Nerazzurri are planning to offer Brescia a loan deal with a buy option or obligation to buy attached, as well as a Primavera player. Andrea Pinamonti and Sebastiano Esposito will not be included in the deal.

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano: “Inter In Pole Position To Sign Marash Kumbulla”

Inter are in the lead in the race to sign Hellas Verona talent Marash Kumbulla, according to a report from Italian journalists Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano on Twitter earlier today.

Both of them report details on how the 20-year-old Albanian central defender, who is contracted to the Gialloblu until 2022, has been wanted by both Juventus and Inter for some time now, with the two clubs fighting for the player’s signature.

It was reported this morning that Juventus are in pole position to sign Kumbulla, but this report from Romano and Moretto directly contradicts those suggestions.

Inter have every intention of signing Kumbulla, the report continues, and so now it’s just a question of figures, with the Nerazzurri looking for a suitable amount to offer Verona for the 20-year-old. Juventus are interested but are clearly behind in the peaking order.

Kumbulla has made 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1581 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and helped the side keep seven clean sheets.

Italian Media Claim Juventus Overtake Inter & Have Agreed Terms With Marash Kumbulla

Juventus have reached an agreement with Inter target Marash Kumbulla, with the Bianconeri ready to launch a €32 million offer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper la Stampa.

The report details how Juventus have reached a five-year agreement with the 20-year-old Albanian defender. Kumbulla has impressed in his debut Serie A season with Hellas Verona and seems destined for a move away from the Gialloblu in the summer, with Inter and Lazio also interested in the player.

The Bianconeri have seemingly secured his signature, the report continues, and unless there is a huge surprise, Kumbulla will be a Juventus player in the summer. The total cost of the deal is around €32 million, but some youth players could be included in the deal in order to lower the total figure.

Kumbulla has helped Verona keep seven clean sheets in 19 appearances so far this season, across all competitions.

Rivaldo On Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez: “An Excellent Signing For Barcelona”

Legendary former Barcelona player Rivaldo has shared his belief that it will be impossible for Barcelona to sign both Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar in the upcoming transfer window.

Lautaro and Neymar are reportedly both transfer targets for the Blaugrana club but Rivaldo does not think it will be possible for the Catalonia based club to land the pair of them.

“Barça’s interest in Lautaro could mean that the club have give up on Neymar’s signing, as I think it is almost impossible to sign both players at the same time,” he remarked as part of an interview with Betfair.

“Barcelona need to focus on landing just one of them and seal the deal. Either of them would be a good signing, but the club needs to think about the amounts involved and also about their manager’s wishes.

“What is the position that Quique Setien wants to reinforce now? Which player would be better suited to his plans? Only Setien knows.”

The AC Milan player then shared his opinion on Lautaro, who has a contract with Inter through to the end of the 2022/23 season.

“Barcelona seem to be keen to sign Lautaro Martínez and he is a great player that could fit in well at the club, especially as he is still young. Luís Suárez, the player could replace in the long term, is not getting any younger but he probably has at least two or three more years at the highest level.

“The arrival of the promising Argentinian forward for around €100m would suggest that he is coming to be a starter, but unfortunately for him Suárez is still first choice up front and that might be a problem for Lautaro.

“If Barcelona are thinking about the Suárez succession in advance then Martínez would be an excellent signing. Inter are asking for a big fee and, with the coronavirus crisis causing clubs financial damage, Barcelona need to evaluate the situation and decide if they have enough money to complete the transfer.”

Lautaro joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 from Superliga Argentina side Racing Club and after playing a bit-part role in his first campaign with the club, he has become a regular starter this season under Antonio Conte.

Since his arrival the highly rated 22-year-old has made 66 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 25 goals and tallied five assists for his teammates.

Inter Legend Sandro Mazzola: “I’d Have Kept Mauro Icardi At Inter”

In an interview with Italian news outlet FCInter1908.it, Inter legend Sandro Mazzola has spoken on a range of Inter related topics and he was firstly asked how he thinks Inter will fare when the season gets back underway.

“I think Inter are a good team and have done a good job so far. I don’t want to say any more out of superstition,” he began.

He was then asked about Mauro Icardi’s recent departure to Paris Saint-Germain and was asked whether or not he would have kept the Argentine striker at the club.

“I liked him very much and I would have kept him. I don’t know specifically what really happened but when you have a player like him you have to keep him.”

Next he was asked if he favours the idea of a system change to get the best out of January transfer window recruit Christian Eriksen.

“Yes, but not much. You don’t have to change three or four players positions to get the best out of just one. If he is the player I think he is though, it is worth changing, but then he must prove his worth.”

Mazzola was then asked whether he would sell Lautaro Martinez amid continued interest from La Liga powerhouses Barcelona.

“It depends on the club’s plans. In my opinion, a great team never let a great player go but if Inter already have a couple names to replace him with and can become even better without him then he could go if an excellent offer arrived.

“I do not think there are many like him around and I would say no even if he were to say he wanted to leave.”

Mazzola was then asked who he would like to see partner Romelu Lukaku, if Lautaro does indeed go on to depart the club.

“I like Cavani very much and I think he would be very happy to play with Lukaku thanks to his characteristics.”

Next Mazzola spoke on Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, who is reportedly close to joining Inter.

“I like him. Inter would do well to sign him. If you have the money, you have to sign him. He is 20-years-old and is already worth €50 million.”

Mazzola, who spent the entirety of his career at Inter, then reflected on Inter manager Antonio Conte’s year in charge of Inter.

“I like Conte very much. Let him work. He has character and temperament. He is getting into the heads of the players.”

Mazzola concluded by speaking on former Inter Inter manager Luigi ‘Gigi’ Simoni, who recently passed away aged 81.

“He was a friend of mine and a great coach. I remember one time at half time I went to the dressing rooms and when he was there the team were all silent. He looked at me and I said to myself, ‘I better go out, maybe he doesn’t want to scold his players in front of a director’. After a few minutes of silence I began to hear him.”

Nerazzurri Treble Hero Wesley Sneijder: “Lautaro Martinez Should Stay At Inter”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, former Inter player Wesley Sneijder reflected on his career and discussed several Inter related topics.

“I could have become like Messi or Ronaldo. I simply didn’t feel like it. I enjoyed my life, maybe I had a glass for dinner,” he began the interview which appeared on Di Marzio’s eponymous website.

“Leo and Cristiano are different; they’ve made many sacrifices. And that’s fine with me. My career, despite this, was still amazing.”

Sneijder then went on to share his belief that thanks to the arrival of Christian Eriksen, Inter can make a leap in quality and suggested that the Danish national team player could become a team leader.

“Conte has a big squad and, with Eriksen in the team, he can finally make a leap in quality. Christian has done well at Ajax and then at Tottenham. Now, he has to establish himself in Italy.

“He has a lot of quality, with his characteristics, he can easily become one of the leaders in the new group.”

He was then asked for his views on Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be heavily linked with a potential move to Barcelona ahead of the transfer window.

“He’s very good, but he must stay in Italy. He can become one of the best, but first he needs to win something with the Nerazzurri.

“There’s a moment to do everything. He could play at Barcelona and of course, if he really wants to leave, I would have preferred a move to Real…”

Former Dutch national team player Sneijder joined Inter in the Summer of 2009 from Real Madrid and spent three and a half years with the club before departing for Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray.

During his time with the club, Sneijder made 116 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored 22 goals and provided 35 assists for his teammates.
