Inter Striker Romelu Lukaku On Verge Of Equaling Personal Record Of Goals Scored In 1 Season

Romelu Lukaku is just four goals shy of matching his personal record for goals scored in a season a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport has highlighted.

His personal record stands at 27 goals in a single season, a tally he achieved during the 2017/18 season at Manchester United.

The Inter striker has 23 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions to date this term and with at least 15 more games to play (13 league games, one Coppa Italia game and one, maybe two, Europa League games depending on what is decided), he stands a good chance of matching if not bettering his personal record.

Lukaku joined Inter in a club record €65 million transfer deal from Manchester United this past Summer and is the highest paid player in Inter history.

The Belgian national team player, who has a contract with the club until the end of the 2023/24 season, has struck up a solid partnership with Lautaro Martinez, a partnership which Inter manager Antonio Conte is bound to heavily rely upon in the remainder of the season.

Juventus & AC Milan Reject Inter’s Request To Reverse Order Of Coppa Italia Semi Final Fixtures

Juventus and AC Milan did not want to do Inter a favour by switching the date of their Coppa Italia semi final second leg according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Bianconeri and Rossoneri are due to face off on June 12 whilst Inter are due to play away to Napoli the following day.

Inter had asked for the fixtures to be reversed to avoid the possibility of having to play three games in the space of eight days which would be the case if they made it to the final, which will be played on June 17 and due to them being the only one of the four semi finalists who will play on June 20.

In order for the dates to have been changed, Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli would all have had to agree but Juventus and AC Milan in particular opposed the idea.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte Experimenting With Different Formations In Training

Inter manager Antonio Conte is carrying out a number of tactical experiments in training according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Aside from having the team training the 3-5-2 system they have used throughout this campaign, Conte also has them training a 3-4-1-2 system and also a four man defensive system, which Conte experimented with against Ludogorets in the Europa League back in February.

The report goes on to explain that Conte has been working the team extremely hard since May 8 and has given the team just three days off between then and now as he wants them to be in the best shape ahead of what will be a busy few months with fixtures galore.

It also goes on to add that Diego Godin and Matias Vecino’s conditions will be evaluated ahead of the Coppa Italia clash against Napoli and everyone else, barring set-backs, will be available.

Inter To Part Ways With Wingback Kwadwo Asamoah At End Of Season

Inter will part ways with Kwadwo Asamoah at the end of this season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Ghanaian’s season has been disrupted by injury and he will look to find a move abroad to a less demanding league to play out the final years of his career.

Asamoah joined Inter on a free transfer from arch rivals Juventus in the Summer of 2018 and had a good first season with the club but since then things have not exactly went to plan for the highly experienced full back.

Reports in the media have linked him with moves to German clubs as well as some Turkish clubs too ahead of the coming transfer window.

This season the 31-year-old has been limited to just 11 appearances across all competitions due to his injury issues. In his time on the field he has contributed a single assist.

Playoffs Will Only Happen If Serie A Season Doesn’t Resume On June 20

The remainder of the Serie A season will only be decided by playoffs if the season does not start back up again according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 2019/20 season was put on hold close to three months ago due to the Coronavirus crisis and the season is scheduled to resume in just over a fortnight, on June 20.

Should, for whatever reason, the season not resume on that date, playoffs to decide things across the league would then be used.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that should the season resume on June 20 but then be stopped again at a later date, an average points based system could be used to determine the final standings in the table.

Lega Serie A proposed the idea of an average points based system whilst the Italian football federation have come up with a projected points algorithm. The results of this system will be determined by the fixtures already played amongst the clubs.

Andrea Ranocchia Could Start For Inter Against Napoli In Coppa Italia Semifinal

The odds of Andrea Ranocchia playing as a starter in Inter’s upcoming Coppa Italia semi final second leg clash with Roma are rising according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Ranocchia is the only Inter central defender other than Milan Skriniar who is not currently nursing an injury problem and in the event that Diego Godin, Alessandro Bastoni or Stefan de Vrij cannot recover, Ranocchia and Skriniar could be deployed at the centre of a four man defensive line.

Even if one of the above is to recover, there is still a chance that Ranochcia could play as part of a three man defensive line at the Stadio San Paolo.

The 32-year-old, who has been with Inter since January 2011, has found playing time very hard to come by this season with him having been limited to just six appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored one goal.

Inter Tie Up Youngster Lucien Agoume Until End Of June 2025

Lucien Agoume’s contract extension with Inter until 2025 is practically a formality according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Inter signed Agoume last Summer from FC Sochaux but due to him not being eligible to sign a professional deal, the club could only sign him to a three year deal but made a promise to him to sign him to a long term professional deal when he turned 18-years-old.

The French midfielder, who Inter pipped the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, Manchester City and others to, turned 18 in the past few months and can now put pen to paper on a professional deal with the club.

Agoume has impressed in his first year at Inter where he has mainly played at youth level. To help aid his development as a player, Inter could loan him out next season.

The report goes on to explain that some clubs have already enquired about talking him on loan and both Parma and St Etienne are closely following him.

Spanish Media Report Inter & Barcelona Far From Reaching Agreement Over Lautaro Martinez

Inter and Barcelona are still very far from reaching an agreement over the potential transfer of Lautaro Martinez according to a report from Spanish football journalist Francesc Aguilar, who works for Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Whilst Barcelona have already struck an agreement in principle with the player over personal terms, they are not close to reaching an agreement with the Nerazzurri.

Aguilar explains that Barcelona are thinking of offering a sum in the region of €50-60 million plus players but Inter want more cash for the highly rated 22-year-old Argentine national team striker.

The report goes on to explain that Inter do not like any of the players Barcelona have been proposing to them following Arthur’s refusal, even Arturo Vidal, who Aguilar claims now wants to stay at Barcelona.

It remains to be seen if or how Lautaro will react to the talks between the two clubs dragging on and on.

Milan Skriniar Only Inter Defender Certain To Start Against Napoli In Coppa Italia Semifinal

Milan Skriniar is the only Inter central defender certain of a place in the starting line-up in Inter’s upcoming Coppa Italia semi final second leg match-up against Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

All other central defenders who regularly play in Diego Godin, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni are currently dealing with injury issues and it remains to be seen whether or not they will be recovered for the match at the Stadio San Paolo.

Due to the injuries, Inter manager Antonio Conte may have to call upon full back Danilo D’Ambrosio to fill in at centre back.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to explain that midfielder Matias Vecino is a doubt for the match whilst Kwadwo Asamoah has finally recovered from the injury problems that have sidelined him for the majority of the season.
