This Summer’s Hottest Free Agents That Could Be Inter Bound

The way the second half of the football season has shaped up isn’t ideal, with only the Bundesliga back in full swing, playing out in front of empty stadiums and with muted goal celebrations, meaning politicians will have the final say on when the beautiful game returns.

The situation makes the summer transfer window all the more interesting, with the fitness of potential signings harder to ascertain and clubs less willing to financially stretch themselves in such a volatile economic climate.

This is where scouts, directors of football and managers really earn their crust, as they trawl the leagues in search of diamonds in the rough. Here are some of this summer’s hottest free transfer targets that Inter could acquire to strengthen their squad.

Edinson Cavani

Inter have one of the hottest prospects in European football on their books in the form of Lautaro Martinez, and with the player almost certain to go somewhere like the Nou Camp, despite Luis Suárez advising him to do otherwise, it seems like Inter will be forced to cash in.

With the Argentine’s release clause of €111 million likely to be matched by a European giant, Inter are on the hunt for a replacement to partner last season’s sensation, Lukaku. Cavani could be just the man, although his wages might be a sticking point, as well as there being competition from other clubs keen to acquire a proven elite level goal getter.

Dries Mertens

Sometimes signing a player who has no experience of playing in Serie A is a risk, which is why Napoli’s Dries Mertens is such a tantalising proposition, especially seeing as Italy could be making moves to leave the European Union, making international transfers trickier in the short term.

Mertens might be a better foil for Lukaku than Cavani and his wage demands would probably be more realistic too. If Mertens still holds ambitions of claiming the Scudetto then the San Siro might be a good bet for him, as well as Inter fans hungry to supersede Juventus and the evergreen Ronaldo.

Mario Götze

This World Cup final winning goal scorer has been in something of a funk of late, with club politics at Dortmund as well as changes to the managerial backroom staff playing havoc with his form.

However, the German is still thought of highly by most of the powers that be in European football and at the tender age of just 27 his best years could still be ahead of him, unlike some of the other names on this list. If German football’s political movers and shakers don’t get their act together, Inter could well take advantage and swoop for the man known as Super Mario.

David Silva

Inter have done a good job of raiding the Premier League for talent. A World Cup winner of Silva’s stature could be another solid proposition, adding invaluable experience and a calm head to their midfield ranks.

Although a return to Spain or career twilight move to Asia look more likely, it could be worth Inter diving in and giving him an offer he can’t refuse.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

We had to throw one crazy curve ball into the mix and who better to cause a stir than Zlatan, a man whose goal scoring longevity is only bettered by Ronaldo.

Given his age, a move from AC wouldn’t be as controversial as such a switch normally could be, but would obviously stir the pot a little all the same. Having said that, the Swede has never shied away from courting controversy and with Bologna the only other Italian side showing interest, Inter could come calling with a one-year contract for the big man.

Inter & Man City Enquire About Bayern Munich Fullback Lucas Hernandez

Inter and Manchester City have both made enquiries to Bayern Munich with regard to the availability of Lucas Hernandez according to a report from the online edition of German news outlet TZ Sport.

The German Bundesliga club only purchased the Frenchman for a sum of €80 million this past Summer from Atletico Madrid but could offload him this Summer with relations between the parties having completely broken down.

His agent Manuel García Quilon has recently stated that his client will not leave the Allianz Arena club but this report insists that it is entirely possible that he could leave in the coming months.

The report goes on to explain that Inter asked about Hernandez during talks with Bayern Munich regarding Ivan Perisic and Manchester City brought him up in talks regarding Leroy Sane.

This season Hernandez, who won the World Cup with France in 2018, has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date. He has failed to make any goal contributions in his time on the park.

Italian Media Reports Bayern Munich Will Sign Croatian Winger Ivan Perisic From Inter

Ivan Perisic will join Bayern Munich on a permanent basis from Inter but it remains to be seen exactly when that will be according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Croatian national team winger joined the Bundesliga outfit this past Summer on a season long loan with an option to buy and although that option to buy has since expired, the two clubs have an agreement that he will still move permanently.

Perisic has already agreed terms with the reigning German champions, who look set to clinch yet another title just shortly.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to add that both Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and Bayern Munich’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are both calm and were able to postpone the move from taking place due to the fact Perisic has no intention of returning to Inter and wants to carry on his career outside of Italy.

Inter & PSG Agree Terms Over Mauro Icardi In Deal Worth Around €65M

Inter and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement over the permanent transfer of Mauro Icardi in a deal worth in the region of €60-65 million according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The clubs have agreed upon two clauses to be included in the deal, both of which could see Inter earn some extra cash in the future.

The first clause is one which states Inter must be given another €15 million by Paris Saint-Germain in the event they are to sell Icardi to another Italian club in the future.

The second clause is one which means Inter will be entitled to a percentage of any future transfer but the report does not specify the exact percentage.

Inter Ignite Interest Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette Who Isn’t Too Keen On The Idea

Inter have made a move to sign Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette but the interest is not reciprocated according to a report from French football journalist Bilel Ghazi, who works for French news outlet L’Equipe.

The Nerazzurri are on the market to improve their attack options and faced with the possibility of losing highly rated Lautaro Martinez, Inter management are looking for a big name to fill the void he could potentially leave.

Barcelona have shown a very strong interest in signing Lautaro and negotiations have taken place between the two clubs although an agreement between the clubs still seems far off.

Inter have been heavily linked with moving for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner in the event that the Argentine departs and Lacazette is the latest player that the club have shown an interest in.

This season the former Olympique Lyon player has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has netted nine goals and tallied three assists.

Inter Could Move For PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa But Antonio Conte Prefers Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri

Inter could bring Layvin Kurzawa to the club this Summer to bolster the defence according to a report from Italian broadcaster Rai Sport transfer market expert Paolo Paganini.

The Frenchman’s contract with current employers Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire at the end of next month and with no contract renewal seemingly forthcoming, he will thus become a free agent as of July 1.

The former AS Monaco full back is one of two Paris Saint-Germain players that Inter could bring in with the Nerazzurri club also working on a deal to bring in Edinson Cavani on a free transfer once his deal expires.

Paganini goes on to explain that Chelsea full back Emerson Palmieri however remains Inter manager Antonio Conte’s preference for left back/left wing back.

This season Kurzawa has made 23 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the field, he has scored one goal and has tallied two assists.
