Inter Wing-Back Antonio Candreva: “We’ll Give Everything Until The End Of The Season”

Inter wing-back Antonio Candreva has admitted that he and teammates need to understand the reason why they keep dropping points like they have done in recent weeks following the 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona.

“It is a big question, why, we keep losing leads. It is an upsetting thing because we didn’t play the first half at the best of our ability. Then in the second half we deserved to win.

“Towards the end, however, the chance always arrives that makes us drop points. We have to understand the reason behind this,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the match at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

He was then asked if the goal is to go all the way in the Europa League, the remainder of which will be played across four cities in Germany next month.

“Yes, but first we have to think about the league. It’s not over yet, we have to give everything without regrets until August 2nd and see where we get then we’ll think about the Europa League.”

Next the former Lazio player, who has been with Inter since 2016, was asked how things have changed for him under Antonio Conte compared to former Inter manager Luciano Spalletti, who he fell out of favour under.

“I work well during the week to be ready for every Sunday. In the past year I played very little under Spalletti and you would have to ask him if he trusted me or not.

“When you feel you have the confidence of your surroundings and you have good competition, you play the matches play. But then you always have to let the pitch do the talking.”

He was then asked if he thinks he needs such support: “Yes and I think this is the case for all athletes. When you do not get the right opportunities to prove your worth it is difficult if you only play ten minutes after three months.”

This season the 32-year-old has made 33 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored six goals and provided his teammates with nine assists.

Ex-Nerazzurri Defender Massimo Paganin: “Inter Suffered A Psychological Collapse Against Hellas Verona”

Former Inter defender Massimo Paganin believes Inter suffered from a collapse from a psychological point of view when it came to needing to kill the game off against Hellas Verona.

Inter fell 1-0 behind minutes after the game kicked off as Samir Handanovic was beaten as his near post and went into the half time interval trailing.

Inter came out a different team and quickly overturned things and found themselves 2-1 ahead and in complete control. Inter failed to grab a third and kill the game off and were punished for this as Hellas Verona equalised with their only shot on goal in the second half.

“It is difficult to explain the approach. Inter didn’t manage to stay inside of the match,” Paganin explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

“At half time Conte will have spoken in the dressing room and the approach changed in the second half but it was not enough. Suddenly, when it was time to be meaner, there was a psychological collapse.

“At some point in the match Inter were no longer able to concentrate and it seems to me to be a collective thing rather than just individuals.

“I think this is the biggest problem Inter have and Conte will have to work on it. It is a psychological issue and the coach must try to understand what to do.

“Inter are starting to drop many points. This season was an important season and continues to be but in this match the team showed two different sides. There is a total lack of balance. We need to understand what to do from here on out.

“The construction of a mentality is under discussion, which is the aspect that naturally presses Antonio Conte and the club. It is frustrating to analyse a series of games in which Inter could have picked up more points. We will have to wait for next year, even if there is still the Europa League. You have to get there with the right mindset. ”

Paganin also shared his views on Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, who had a very quiet match as he found himself marked out of it and unable to impose himself as he typically does.

“It is fundamental to have him back although against Bologna he played the ball much less than usual. He is one of the strongest players in his role. He is very good in transition as is his ability to intercept. His defensive work and build-up play is important and he has grown a lot in recent years.”

Hellas Verona To Meet With Inter Linked Marash Kumbulla’s Agents To Talk Contract Extension

Hellas Verona will soon meet with the representatives of Marash Kumbulla to hold talks over a possible contract extension according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

The Gialloblu club have called for the meeting with the highly rated young defender’s representatives due to the fact none of the clubs interested in him have come close to meeting their demands for him.

Inter, Juventus and Lazio have all been strongly linked with the Italian born Albanian national team player but are unwilling to pay the €27 million plus €8 million in add-ons that the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi club want for their academy graduate.

Despite this upcoming meeting, the report from Sky Sport Italia stresses that Kumbulla very much remains on the market.

This season the 20-year-old has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has provided a single assist for his teammates.

Tweet – Italian Journalist Paolo Bargiggia: “Antonio Conte’s Philosophy Is Long Balls To Romelu Lukaku & See What Happens”

Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia has taken to social media platform Twitter to criticise Inter manager Antonio Conte for the game plan that he employed in the 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona on Wednesday night.

Inter went behind a few minutes after the game started but got themselves ahead following a quick fire double at the start of the second half. Inter failed to hold on to the lead they had with Hellas Verona scoring with their only shot on goal in the second half with five minutes to spare.

He posted: “Conte’s game philosophy is long balls up to Romelu Lukaku and see what happens. It was a bit like in the oratory when I was 10-years-old only a coach earning €12 million a year was not training them.”

La filosofia di gioco di Conte è: “palla lunga su @RomeluLukaku9 e poi vediamo che succede…”. Un po’ come all’oratorio quando avevo 10 anni. Solo che li non ci allenava uno da 12 mln di euro l’anno. @HellasVeronaFC @Inter 2-2; #fallimentototale

Tweet – Italian Journalist Fabio Ravezzani: “Inter’s Attitude On The Pitch Was Disappointing”

Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia director Fabio Ravezzani has taken to social media platform Twitter to voice his views following Inter’s disappointing 2-2 draw away to Hellas Verona on Thursday night.

Inter fell behind minutes after the game started but managed to take the lead soon after the second half started with two quick goals.

Inter were in control and looked set to win but in the final few minutes Hellas Verona scored with what was their only shot on goal in the second half.

He posted: “Inter’s attitude on the pitch was disappointing, firstly once more for the result. This is Conte’s real defeat. After that the team could still finish in 2nd spot in the Serie A, but the groups step back is preoccupying and calls into question some of the improvised statements made by the coach.”

Tweet – Italian Journalist Fabrizio Biasin: “When You Drop 20 Points When Leading It Shows You Can’t Closing Matches Off”

Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin has taken to social media platform to share what he believes Inter losing 20 points from winning positions says about them as a team.

Inter were on the brink of picking up three points away to Hellas Verona on Thursday night at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi but ended up having to settle for just one point as they conceded late on via the hosts only shot on goal in the second half.

He posted: “If you lose 20 points from a leading position it means that you cannot kill off games, but above all that you cannot manage them which is even worse.”

Se perdi 20 punti da posizione di vantaggio significa che non sai chiudere le partite, ma soprattutto che non sai gestirle.

Che è anche peggio.#VeronaInter

Federico Dimarco’s own goal against Inter during the 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona was the first own goal Inter have had go their way in Serie A in over two years according to sports data and analytics company Opta.

The full back, who is currently on loan at the Gialloblu from Inter, unfortunately steered the ball past goalkeeper Marco Silvestri and this gave Inter a 2-1 lead but Inter failed to keep a hold of the lead.

The last own goal scored that helped Inter out came back in April 2018 when Andrea Barzagli scored an own goal in the Derby D’Italia.
