Inter Beat Man City & Barcelona Among Others In Race To Sign Panathinaikos Starlet Georgios Vagiannidis

Inter have overcome competition from several top European clubs and are on the verge of completing the signing of Georgios Vagiannidis according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The 18-year-old full back is currently on the books of Greek Super League side Panathinaikos and Inter will pay them in the region of €400,000 to sign him.

The Nerazzurri club have fought off competition from Manchester City, AS Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona and have offered the Greek youth international a five year contract that comes with an annual salary of €500,000 and he will join the Inter first team for pre-season training.

It will then be up to Inter manager Antonio Conte to decide whether or not Vagiannidis remains with the first team for the season or if he should be loaned out to another Italian club to gain experience.

This season Vagiannidis has made 17 appearances across all competitions, all barring one of which have come at youth level. He has scored five goals and tallied one assist in his time on the pitch.

Spanish Media Reports Lionel Messi Will Stay At Barcelona Due To Imminent Signing Of Lautaro Martinez From Inter

Lionel Messi will not exercise the option he has to free himself from his Barcelona contract this Summer due to the possible arrival of compatriot Lautaro Martinez from Inter according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Messi has a clause which enables him to terminate his contract with the Blaugrana completely free of charge so long as he gives 30 days notice.

When this clause in his contract became apparent, rumours spread in the media about clubs he could potentially move to with Inter among those clubs but Messi instead looks set to continue at the Nou Camp where he could play alongside national team teammate Lautaro, who he holds in high regard.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Inter over Lautaro have been ongoing for some time now and any deal appears likely to be carried out on a player plus cash basis.

Barcelona would like to include Arturo Vidal but Inter would rather do a separate deal for him. The idea of Junior Firpo being included as part of a deal is taking shape.

Italian Report Claims Inter Will Only Be Able To Sign One Of PSG’s Cavani & RB Leipzig’s Werner

Only one of Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner will arrive at Inter in the coming months according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Inter have been heavily linked with making moves for both players ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window and both players want a starting berth, something that will not be possible as Romelu Lukaku will continue to occupy one of the two starting striker spots.

One of Cavani or Werner could arrive to be a starter alongside Lukaku and then Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio will look to someone else to fill the role of back-up.

The report from the Turin based newspaper also goes on to state that there is divided opinion at Inter when it comes to the potential signing of Arturo Vidal.

Inter manager Antonio Conte would like the Chilean brought in but Marotta is understood to have several doubts about the former Juventus midfielder.

Suning To Replace Pirelli As Inter’s Shirt Sponsors With Either Samsung Or Evergrande

Inter’s owners Suning are on the hunt for a new main shirt sponsor to replace long term main shirt sponsor Pirelli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Pirelli have been Inter’s main shirt sponsor since 1995 and have become almost synonymous with Inter in the 25 years since but the sponsorship deal is set to expire at the end of next season.

Pirelli currently pay Inter a sum of €12 million a year and Suning want to find a sponsor who can guarantee just over double that.

The goal is to find a company willing to pay in the region of €25-30 million a year, which would take Inter a lot closer to arch rivals Juventus, who currently earn €42 million from their sponsorship from Jeep.

Samsung, who already sponsor Suning’s other club Jiangsu Suning’s shirts and the Evergrande group are both potential new main shirt sponsors for Inter and an agreement could be reached more easily thanks to the links already in place between those companies and Suning.

Italian Media Highlights How Inter & Barcelona Both Stand To Lose If Lautaro Martinez Talks Collapse

All parties have something to lose in negotiations between Inter and Barcelona over Lautaro Martinez according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing for some time but have currently stalled after Inter knocked back Barcelona’s offer which consisted of €50 million plus two players.

If Barcelona fail to get a deal done they will lose out on their reported number one transfer target, Inter could lose out in the sense that Lautaro, if a move does not take place, may not be able to perform to the same levels as he could be mentally affected by the move collapsing.

Inter manager Antonio Conte will have to therefore be prepared to ensure Lautaro’s mental state is not affected too much if a move does not happen.

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 16 goals and tallied four assists.

Barcelona & Inter Working On Finalizing Deal For Lautaro Martinez Which Will Include Man City’s Joao Cancelo

Inter’s attack could look very different next season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Negotiations between Inter and Barcelona are ongoing regarding Lautaro Martinez and the report claims that a deal between the clubs, which will see Joao Cancelo end up at Inter as part of it, is being finalised.

Inter will then move for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner to replace Lautaro. The 24-year-old German international has a release clause that will be either €50 million or €60 million. It will be the latter figure if RB Leipzig win the Bundesliga.

The Nerazzurri are also working on a deal to bring in Edinson Cavani on a free transfer. The Uruguayan’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire at the end of next month and he will fill the role Inter hoped Edin Dzeko would have this season had they managed to have signed him from Roma.

Inter Treble Hero Lucio: “We Were On A Mission To Win The Champions League & Succeeded”

In an interview with sports broadcaster Fox Sports earlier yesterday afternoon local time, former Inter central defender Lucio has recalled how his move to Inter in the Summer of 2009 came about.

The former Brazilian national tea defender joined Inter from German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich after then manager Louis Van Gaal considered him to be out of the club’s project, something Lucio admits shook him.

“It is known that he is a manager who does not like Brazilian players, and in 2009 it was no different. While I was engaged in the Confederations Cup I received the news, through the newspapers, that he would not count on me in the 2009-10 season.

“As captain of the Brazilian national team and defender of Bayern Munich I couldn’t help but feel shaken, even if I didn’t want to convey this feeling to the group.

“It was very difficult to manage and overcome that moment, but I was rewarded. I still had to talk to Van Gaal, because my commitment and responsibility was towards Bayern.

“It was not easy to knock on his door, even though I knew he didn’t count on me. Despite his decision, I always maintained dialogue, truth, respect.

“It was obvious that he would have decided to not count on me and it was known that Bayern and Inter were talking. I was a professional, I waited for the negotiations to take place. Bayern is a very important club for me.”

Lucio, who also represented Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus during his career, then spoke on his three years spent with Inter, the first year of which was particularly memorable as the Nerazzurri achieved a famous treble.

“Our Inter team was obviously created with a pillar like José Mourinho in charge. We were a team on a mission. Inter had not won the Champions League in 45 years.

“Everyone was very focused on winning which is why Mourinho managed to manage that group to achieve the great triumph that was the treble.

“It was very difficult and the press criticised Mourinho’s methods and even the team itself. For me, the biggest difficulty was to play the Champions League final against Bayern.”

The now 42-year-old, who only retired last year after a stint with Brasiliense in the lower leagues of Brazil, made a total of 136 appearances across all competitions for Inter.

In just over 12,000 minutes on the field, the 2002 World Cup winning defender scored five goals, tallied nine assists and help the team to keep a number of clean sheets.

Panatinaikos Coach Donis On Inter Linked Vagiannidis: “He Wont Be Here Next Season”

Panathinaikos manager Giorgios Donis has confirmed that Giorgios Vagiannidis will not be with the club next season.

Vagiannidis’ contract with the Greek Super League club is due to expire at the end of next month and reports in the media in the past few weeks have suggested that he has provisionally agreed terms to join Inter.

“We already know that Vagiannidis and Kostas Apostolakis will not be here next season. I would like to see them at the highest level,” Donis, who has been in charge of Panathinaikos since 2018, remarked in an interview with Greek state television broadcaster ERT yesterday afternoon local time.

As per the reports that have done the rounds, Inter have offered 18-year-old sensation Vagiannidis a three year contract and will pay a FIFA determined compensation amount of around €400,000 to bring him to the club.

The Greek youth national team full back has almost exclusively played for Panathinaikos’ under 19 side this term but has made one appearance at first team level. All in all he has made 17 appearances, in which he has contributed five goals and a single assist.

Tronchetti Provera: “A Link Between Pirelli & Inter Will Remain, Cavani & Werner Would Be Better Than Lautaro & Icardi”

Pirelli vice president Marco Tronchetti Provera has revealed that a link will remain between the tyre company and Inter in the future but has admitted to being unsure quite what that will be.

Pirelli have been Inter’s main shirt sponsor for over 20 years now and their logo is almost synonymous with Inter’s jerseys but the sponsorship agreement is due to expire at the end of next season and reports have suggested Inter are looking to get a new main shirt sponsor.

“A link between Pirelli and Inter will remain. We will see what that will be,” he remarked in an interview with the online edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Tronchetti Provera then went on to speak about current Inter manager Antonio Conte and some of the players who have been linked with potential Summer transfers to the club.

“Conte has extraordinary skills, we have left a certain world and we don’t know what the new one will be like. For example, we left Inter with a director who was to change the team, Eriksen.

“Cavani knows how to do extraordinary things and Cristiano Ronaldo shows that even at a certain age you can still make a difference.

“It is clear that the sale of Lautaro would be painful but with Cavani and Werner we could be stronger than with Lautaro and Icardi, especially if Eriksen returns to the level he was at at Tottenham.”

Next he shared his opinion on Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project which will see San Siro almost entirely demolished.

“There is a great emotional bond for San Siro that has created many emotions but I understand the interests of the clubs.”

In conclusion he paid tribute to former Inter manager Luigi ‘Gigi’ Simoni, who recently passed away.

“He was gentleman who passed through Inter during a moment of transformation, Ronaldo had just arrived and Inter won a UEFA Cup.”
