Italian Media Reports Inter & Barcelona’s Negotiations Over Lautaro Martinez Almost Dead

Barcelona are trying to insert Samuel Umtiti into a deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez at all costs according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset which was aired a short time ago.

Talks between the two clubs over the highly rated 22-year-old are currently at a standstill with the clubs having been unable to come to an agreement over a counterpart or possible counterparts to include into any deal for the Argentine international.

Arthur is more open to leaving the Catalonia based club but appears more inclined to join Inter’s arch rivals Juventus instead whilst a number of other clubs are keen on signing Nelson Semedo.

Inter like young full back Junior Firpo but the report goes on to explain that Barcelona are doing all they can to include 2018 World Cup winner Umtiti into a deal but Inter manager Antonio Conte and the management are perplexed by this.

Ex-Inter Director Paolillo: “Messi Could Arrive At Inter, Lautaro Martinez Is Worth €120m, Inter Should Sign Timo Werner”

Former Inter dircetor Ernesto Paolillo has spoken on former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti, and what winning the Champions League as part of Inter’s historic treble winning season meant to Moratti.

“First of all the president dreamed of and wanted the Champions League because in those years he had already won some Scudetto,” Paolillo remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

“The dream of winning the treble only came in the few months before it happened but the big dream was always the Champions League.

“There was a firm determination that it could be achieved with a great manager. Moratti was determined to see the team go all the way that year and in my opinion this determination helped in other competitions too because the team was good at staying focused.

“The president, who knows how to use both the stick and carrot well, also knew how to convey the great desire that the team needed. As I was close to him, there were some moments where he was tense but he was good at hiding it.

“Despite this, he was good at conveying peace of mind to the team and autonomy to the manager, who was extremely free to do what he wanted. Everyone wanted to do their best not to achieve the goal for themselves but for the president, who deserved it.”

Paolillo then went on to share his belief that Lionel Messi could end up at Inter in the future.

“Could he arrive? Theoretically yes. Let’s not forget how and why Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Italy. Whether right or wrong that it is, the tax legislation present today favours the arrival of players who have certain economic and brand interests.

“They have incredible tax breaks, and therefore a great player can take advantage of this legislation. So just how Ronaldo arrived, Messi can arrive too.”

He was then asked whether he thinks any of Inter’s current squad would have been able to play in Inter’s treble winning side.

“Each team has its time and its players, prepared for the type of football present at that time. It is therefore difficult to answer this question. Personally, I think that precisely because of the type of athlete Lukaku is, he probably could have played alongside one of Eto’o and Milito, although they were a formidable partnership.”

He then went on to discuss the continued speculation relating to Lautaro Martinez’s future with Inter as he continues to be linked with a potential move to La Liga powershouses Barcelona.

“I believe that to make a great winning team you need to have all the departments complete. Thinking about sacrificing Lautaro Martinez hurts, because he is a great player who can still grow a lot.

“However, if that can be used to complete the team in other departments, his departure will be welcome. The right price? Given his age and the value that the player already boasts today, I would say he is worth €120 million upward.”

In conclusion he was asked which player he would like to see Inter bring to the club in the coming months.

“Let’s see…if I had to buy a player for Inter, I would take a young German, who plays for RB Leipzig, who is scoring tonnes of goals, you know who he is.

“Anyway, I will tell you something, Inter are lucky to have stable, secure and strong owners in Suning and a president like Zhang and two great directors in Marotta and Antonello, who know how to do the best for the club.

“This is the biggest peace of mind that we fans can have.”

Paolillo joined Inter back in the Summer of 2006 and took over from Mauro Gambaro and spent just over six years with the club.

Inter Wont Make Any Decisions On Reducing Players Salaries Until There’s More Certainty Regarding Resumption Of Serie A

Inter management have decided that they will not make a decision on the issue of salary reductions until there is more certainty regarding the possible resumption of the 2019/20 season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Serie A season has been on hold for over two months now due to the global Coronavirus crisis but it could return next month depending on how things go in terms of the virus numbers and whether they continue to drop or not.

Inter club captain Samir Handanovic has already communicated to club management that he and the team are willing to discuss adjustments to their contracts and the report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to state that any negotiations over salary reductions or even deferrals will likely happen in June.

Whilst Inter are yet to reach an agreement with their players and staff, Juventus and several other Serie A clubs already have.

Ex-Inter Sporting Director Marco Branca: “We Won The Semifinals Vs Barcelona Because We Were The Stronger Side”

Former Inter director Marco Branca has reminisced about Inter’s famous 2009/10 season, 10 years on from it being completed with the capture of the Champions League after a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich.

In an interview with Italian daily newspaper Il Giorno, which appeared in today’s print edition, Branca spoke on the process of building what turned out to be the treble winning team.

“It was a slow construction for the first few years and then, when the conditions for a stable winning mentality were created, we were also able to make an almost 50% change in the starting team,” he began the interview.

He then went on to speak about some of the players who were brought in, many of whom were deemed surplus to requirements elsewhere and were out to prove their former employers that they were wrong to let them go.

“It was odd for a club that had been winning for years to implement such a profound upheaval. It was strange.

“Motta and Milito wanted to prove that they were capable of playing for a great team. Sneijder had been rejected by Real Madrid, Eto’o had been sent away from Barcelona and Lucio had been sent away from Bayern by Van Gaal. Everyone was very motivated.”

Branca then went on to talk about Inter’s Champions League semi final success over Barcelona that season: “I believe that we were super in those matches and it was because we were the stronger side.”

Branca, who has not been with Inter for a good few years now, then reflected on the contribution he made during his time with the club.

“I was chosen as technical director by the president after I had spent a season with him as chief of Inter scouts, I was only 38-years-old.

“I was a director at Inter for ten years, won 15 titles. It was a fabulous time. Will I go back to being a director in the future? Anything can happen, that’s my job. I have been gone from Inter for six years. Without Moratti I could not work with a new club.”

Jose Mourinho: “Decided To Leave Inter After Semifinal Win Vs Barcelona Because I Knew We’d Win The Champions League”

Former Inter manager Jose Mourinho has reminisced about Inter’s famous treble winning season which was completed 10 years ago today with the capture of the Champions League.

“I was at my best in my career when I felt at home, where I could feel the emotions of my group, where I was 200 per cent in it with my heart,” he began an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition of the Italian daily newspaper.

“That’s why, on May 22 in Madrid, I was content to experience the happiness of others, all the way from Moratti to the people working in the warehouse.

“I had already won a Champions League. I used to think of myself first and then the others: at Inter, it was never like that.

“In a family, when you become a father, you understand that someone is more important than you and that you move into second place.

“Ten years later, we are all together again. Just the other day I spoke to Alessio. In my time, he was the driver. Where and when does it happen that a coach who leaves, ten years later still talks to the driver? Never. That’s Inter for me, this is my people.”

The Portuguese tactician then went on to recall some times during his tenure in charge where he perhaps went a little too far.

“There are other relationships too: I coach, you play. Empathy depends on the ability to accept me as I am. It’s like a puzzle.

“At Inter, there were people waiting for someone like me to complete that puzzle. I’m never fake, I’m original: it’s me, and that’s that.

“I was also harsh, but it was me. Especially after the defeat in Bergamo. I was very violent with the players, right after having told them that they had won the Scudetto of poor performances.

“I understood that I had hurt them, because only afterwards I understood the things that had happened before, and I apologized.”

Next Mourinho revealed that had he returned to Milan with the rest of the team for the celebrations he may have ended up staying in charge of Inter rather than taking charge of Real Madrid, who he has insisted he never had a deal with before the final.

“If I had returned from Madrid to Milan, with the team around and the fans who would have chanted: ‘Jose stay here with us’, perhaps I would never have left.

“I hadn’t already signed with Real Madrid before the Final. Someone said that Real came to our hotel before the Final, but that’s not true.

“I wanted to go to Real, they wanted me the year before. I went to Moratti’s house to tell him and he stopped me from going. I had already rejected Real when I was at Chelsea and you can’t say no three times to Madrid.

“I had decided to leave after the second semi-final against Barcelona, because I knew I would win the Champions League.

“I had prepared Moratti: without words, the temperature of our embrace on the pitch made him understand what I wanted.

“He said: ‘After this, you have the right to leave’. It was correct to do what I wanted, not to be happy. In fact, I was happier in Milan than in Madrid.”

Mourinho then went on to recall how upset Inter’s rivals were upon them completing the feat that no other Italian club has ever achieved and on Marco Materazzi, who stepped up several times that season.

“Our noisy enemies, who then wept, was beautiful. The tremor was stronger than the noise and if you think about it, it’s the same thing.

“When there’s noise, it’s because there is fear. I got out of the car to embrace Materazzi because he was the symbol of the sadness in all of us, and of what a team player must be.

“When the team needed him – Chelsea, Roma, Siena – he was there. I’m a Catholic and I believe in these things. Maybe it was God who put him there against that wall, as the last player I saw.

“By hugging him, I embraced all my players. And I say one thing: it makes me wonder why someone like him – as a coach, manager, warehouse worker, driver, I don’t know – is not at Inter.”

He concluded by stating: “Why did I stop saying that I will return to Inter one day? I know why you are asking me this question, I’m not stupid.”

Agustin Urzi has admitted he is both at ease and calm regarding his future amid links to a series of European clubs in recent weeks and months.

The Banfield and Argentine youth national team winger has drawn links to Inter, Fiorentina and Roma in particular and has suggested that everyone would like to play for such teams.

“Who wouldn’t like to play for great teams like them? For now I’m at Banfield, I’m at ease and I’m calm,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet EuropaCalcio.it.

Next Urzi went on to reveal what league he thinks he is best suited to as a player.

“I really like English football but now the United States is very competitive league and I think it is very close to my style of play. We will see what happens in the future.”

He concluded the interview by sharing his admiration for Inter legend and current vice president Javier Zanetti, who spent two years on Banfield’s books between 1993 and 1995.

The 20-year-old attacker, who has a contract with Banfield until the end of the 2022/23 season which includes a €30 million release clause, has made 19 appearances across all competitions to date this term.

Italian Media Report Inter Overtake Juventus In Race To Sign RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner

Inter have moved ahead of Juventus in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sports Mediaset which was aired a short time ago.

Inter have made contact with the 24-year-old German national team striker’s representatives over a potential move to the club in the coming months.

Werner, who has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe in the past few seasons, has a variable release clause in his current contract, the value of which will depend on whether or not RB Leipzig win the Bundesliga title this season.

If RB Leipzig are to win the title, his release clause will be €60 million but if they fail to land Germany football’s top prize then his release clause will be €50 million instead.

This season Werner has made 37 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 27 goals and tallied 12 assists.

Cagliari President Giulini: “Inter Would Make A Great Deal By Keeping Radja Nainggolan”

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini has shared his belief that Inter should reintegrate midfielder Radja Nainggolan into their squad next season.

The former Belgian national team player is currently out on loan at the Rossoblu club after he was judged to be out of the Nerazzurri club’s project this past Summer and he has managed to find his best form again whilst back in Sardinia during the course of this season.

“He has a great personality and Inter have already tried to sign players of his kind this year,” Giulini, who has been president of Cagliari since the Summer of 2014, remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia earlier on today.

He then added: “In my opinion, he would be convenient to have for all the top clubs and Inter would make a good deal to keep him.”

He then went on to admit that for the time being the club have not discussed a potential permanent transfer with Inter in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

“Otherwise, we will be there too. It depends on Inter, who holds the cards, and we have not yet addressed his future.”

In 24 appearances across all competitions to date, the 31-year-old former Roma player has scored five goals and has also provided half a dozen assists for his teammates.

Italian Media Reports Antonio Conte Tells Inter’s Directors Not To Sign Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen

Inter manager Antonio Conte has told club management, namely chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, that he does not want Jan Vertonghen signed according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Vertonghen is currently on the books of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but appears destined to leave the north London based club at the end of next month when his contract with them expires.

Italy is believed to be among his preferred next destinations and although there was some contact with Inter, the Belgian national team defender will not be headed to the Nerazzurri as Conte does not see him in his plans.

The report goes on to explain that a move to Roma seems to be the most plausible hypothesis at the moment for the former Ajax player.

This season Vertonghen has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and tallied a single assist.

Italian Media Claims Chelsea Striker Olivier Giroud Still Hoping To Reunite With Antonio Conte At Inter

Despite his contract just being extended with Chelsea by a further season, Olivier Giroud remains hopeful that Inter will come back in for him in the coming months according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Inter drew very strong links with the Frenchman back in the most recent January transfer window but when they failed to land him then they showed an interest in signing him on a free transfer as he looked set to leave Chelsea.

In the past few days however Chelsea exercised an option to extend his contract by a further season and although Giroud would like Inter to come back in for him, the report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to add that Inter will hardly make a move for him given he will turn 34-years-old in September.

It also goes on to add that Inter could satisfy manager Antonio Conte by bringing in Arturo Vidal but they do not want to acquire him as part of a deal that would send Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona.
