Spanish Media Claim Inter Join Bayern Munich, PSG, Juventus & Man City In Targeting Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo

Inter are one of several clubs with an interest in signing Barcelona full back Nelson Semedo in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report on the online edition of Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich are all keen on signing him as are Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

Semedo could help Barcelona raise some all important funds for the Summer transfer window or could help them complete deals for some players by being a counterpart.

Barcelona know that Inter would accept the Portuguese national team player as part of a deal for highly rated Lautaro Martinez whilst he could also be used in a deal for Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The 26-year-old former Benfica player has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date this term. In just over 2100 minutes on the field, Semedo has provided a total of five assists for his teammates at the Nou Camp.

PSG Make Inter An Offer Worth €60M For €70M Rated Striker Mauro Icardi

Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer of €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons to Inter for Mauro Icardi according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia aired moments ago.

The 27-year-old Argentine is currently out on loan at the French capital city club and has been since this past Summer.

As part of the agreement between Inter and Paris Saint Germain, the recently crowned French champions have an option to sign him for €70 million but are seeking a discount on the former Sampdoria player as shown by the offer they have made.

It is as yet unclear what Inter think of the proposal but reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that the Nerazzurri want to avoid Icardi returning to the club at all costs.

The report from Sky Sport Italia goes on to add that the two clubs could come to an agreement to extend the current purchase option but in order for this to happen Icardi will have to give his blessing.

Whilst at the Parc des Princes club, Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 20 goals and tallied four assists.

Italian Media Reports Lautaro Martinez Has An Agreement With Inter To Not Force A Transfer To Barcelona

Inter and Lautaro Martinez have reached an agreement which prohibits him from trying to force a move through to Barcelona according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The highly rated 22-year-old striker has been heavily linked with the Blaugrana club almost daily for several months now but has agreed with Inter that a move will only take place if the two clubs can come to an agreement, without him trying to force anything.

For this reason, Inter will continue to stand firm on their asking price for the Argentine national team striker and want no more than one player included in any potential deal. Barcelona either have to pay up and meet Inter’s demands or can forget about signing the former Racing Club player.

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 16 goals and provided six assists for his teammates.

PSG Striker Edinson Cavani Wants €10M Net Per Season To Sign For Inter On A Free Transfer

Edinson Cavani wants €10 million a year from Inter to join them on a free transfer this Summer according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Paris Saint Germain and Uruguayan national team striker will leave his current employers after seven years of service at the end of next month when his contract expires.

He currently earns €12 million a year but is willing to drop down to the above amount but the report goes on to state that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta still deems that figure to be too big.

Despite Marotta deeming it too big, Inter will of course be helped by the taxation laws relating to players coming from outside of Italy.

Inter face competition from Atletico Madrid but the report states Inter have several things in their favour. For starters, Cavani would have less competition for game time than at Atletico Madrid, he already knows Italian football having previously played for Napoli among others and Inter are more certain of qualifying for the Champions League.

Nerazzurri Treble Hero Diego Milito: “Happy When I Think About The Mark We Left On Inter’s History”

In an open letter, which was posted on Inter’s official club website, legendary Inter striker Diego Milito reminisced about winning the Champions League with Inter among a number of other topics.

“‘Dad, why are you standing in the back like that? You can barely be seen in all the photos.’ My son Leandro always asks me that question,” he began.

“I had just scored two goals against Bayern Munich, and he was three years old at the time: I put him on my shoulders and walked down the steps towards the cup, towards glory.

“There was a lot of excitement on that stage and there I was, stood in the back corner, half blocked off, with Leandro holding his hands over my head, almost covering my eyes, while Pupi raised the Champions League.

“He had the best seat in the house. Leandro is now 12 years old, he’s left-footed and plays up front for Racing. He’s also an Inter super fan.”

He then spoke on the importance of his families support throughout his playing career.

“I was able to focus on football because of my family’s constant, extraordinary and unwavering support. The deal they offered was clear don’t drop out of school.

“In fact, I kept my side of that deal until the second year of university, where I was studying to become an accountant. I remember the car rides straight from school to practice, eating a sandwich on the way; or vice versa when I’d train in the morning and have to reschedule my classes to the afternoon.”

Next Milito recalled how he settled in at Inter, something which was made that bit easier due to there being several other Argentines already in the squad.

“I found settling in easy, because I already knew Cambiasso who had been my brother’s former U20 national teammate. Cuchu became my roommate, and we shared so many great moments for five years. He was serious, intelligent, and luckily I always used to fall asleep before him!

“Then there was Zanetti, whose brother Sergio I had played with in Argentina. I felt at home there, and without a doubt the asado ritual, with Samuel as head chef, contributed to that. I know all my teammates have said that all I did was eat, but believe me, sometimes I helped Walter out too and I can prove it.”

Next Milito spoke on just how close the team were to one another during those years.

“We’d often stay at the Pinetina even after training to have a good time and spend our evenings laughing and eating. We were a really tight-knit group, and everyone worked hard in training because that was our philosophy: how you train affects how you play. The character in that team was incredible. And Mourinho was close with everyone.”

The former Argentine international then went on to reminisce about some of the best memories he has from his time representing the Nerazzurri.

“I’ve got a lot of memories of those days, they’re moments I like to call extra special and in fact I remember the clock at Camp Nou so well. It looked like it was made out of salt. I looked at it after a lifetime had already passed on the pitch and it said 15 minutes. It was endless, but the courage shown by everyone that evening!

“I also remember the foulest of moods on the train from Florence to Milan, as we travelled back from a gutting 2-2 draw but Pupi kept us optimistic that day too and he was right to do so, with the help of an incredible evening too.

“We were eating pizza at my house while we watched Roma vs. Sampdoria. You already know the story, but it remains a thrilling moment of that exceptional season: Roma ahead, all of us sad.

“The pizzas arrived and my wife put Augustina, my little daughter, into my arms, and Pazzini equalised. From that moment onward, I didn’t let go of Augustina even for a second, and Sampdoria won!”

Next Milito discussed what winning the Champions League meant to him.

“Winning the Champions League was my dream, it was everyone’s dream. Just like Racing fans had to wait 35 years to win the Copa Libertadores, Inter fans had to wait 45.

“The night before the game was just like any other, I can say that I was calm and focused, I knew it would be hard, but we were sure of ourselves and determined.

“Our ritual was the same as always, drinking mate in Walter Samuel’s room. That night, to help us relax but also to provide some motivation, us Argentinians watched “Iluminados por el fuego”, a film about our nation’s heroes in the Falklands War. Chills. Then everyone to bed.”

He then walked through the goals he scored in the Champions League final.

“Julio knocked it long, I watched the ball drop and went up against Demichelis for the header, he was huge. Here too, I can still see it in my mind, frame by frame. I saw Wesley ready to make the pass: I knew that with him he always got it to you.

“So I started my run straight, from deep. My first touch was good, and I saw Badstuber coming from my right. I pulled out a fake shot, we call it an amague where I’m from, and just a moment later I was running off to celebrate.

“For the second goal you need to rewind the tape all the way back to 2001: Racing 2-0 Lanus, the penultimate day of the Apertura. I’d held that bit of play in my mind for nine years: it was at El Cilindro de Avellaneda, I squared up to the defender, pretended that I was going to bend one into the top corner, but instead cut it back with my right.

“I hit it with the outside of my foot, crossbar, and Chatruc tucked away the rebound. My fake shot to beat Van Buyten in Madrid was identical to that one nine years earlier: I was just better at keeping the ball at the right distance to open up my body and slot it in at far post.

“In that moment I would have liked to embrace every Nerazzurri fan across the world. I was happy, and I still am now, when I think about what we did, all together. The mark we left on the history of this Club, our Inter.”

In conclusion, Milito recalled the celebrations that were had back in Milan after the Champions League final.

“I’ll tell you now: never in my entire life had I seen a stadium full of people at dawn, at six in the morning. Our return from Barcelona had already been fantastic with the welcome we received at the airport but that morning San Siro was the most magical place in the world: it was just us, the Interista people. I was overwhelmed. But I was overwhelmed with happiness.”

Ex-Inter President Moratti: “We Expected To Win The Champions League Final After Suffering Against Barcelona”

In an interview with Italian newspaper Il Giorno, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition, former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti reflected on Inter’s treble winning season and how it felt once the club completed it and became the only Italian club in history to do so.

“I remember it as a day of celebration, even before the game,” he began the interview.

“We were happy to be in the final. Winning the Coppa Italia and the league had given us happiness and confidence, then Jose Mourinho, who knew the opponent well, gave us security. After Barcelona and that terrible suffering, we expected to win.”

He then went on to speak more on Mourinho, who is currently in charge at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

“We didn’t have many friends around, but that year it depended only on us. When he was controversial, he always did it to give the team a certain mentality. Thinking about his departure to Real Madrid, he did something really terrible.”

In conclusion Moratti spoke briefly on current Inter president Steven Zhang, who is the youngest president in the club’s history, and Inter manager Antonio Conte: “Zhang can be considered a true fan. Conte is a hard worker and gives guarantees.”

Moratti bought a controlling stake in Inter in 1995 from Ernesto Pellegrini and was the club’s majority shareholder up until 2013. Moratti’s remaining shares in the club were then snapped up in 2016 when current owners Suning took charge of the club.

During Moratti’s tenure in charge, Inter won a total of 17 trophies, including five straight Serie A titles between the 2005/06 season and the 2009/10 season.

Ex-Inter Sporting Director Marco Branca: “We Tried To Sign Lionel Messi From Barcelona In Summer Of 2008”

In an interview with Italian newspaper Libero, which appeared in today’s print edition, former Inter director Marco Branca spoke on a range of different Inter related topics and started by recalling Inter’s Champions League win in the 2009/10 season which formed a third of the club’s famous treble win.

“I remember it perfectly, there was an atmosphere of great security. We knocked Barcelona out in the semi finals and had just won the Coppa Italia in Rome against Roma and had won the Scudetto too. We were ready to face and overcome anything unexpected, mentally we presented ourselves as winners.”

He then went on reveal how the Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto’o swap deal came to fruition.

“To play at Inter you have to be 100% happy and Zlatan told us that he no longer had the necessary serenity. He is a boy of great character, witty, very correct, we listened to him and looked for the ideal solution for both parties.

“Barcelona was a great attraction for him and the deal materialised very quickly because we had been following Eto’o for a long time. For two years we had been building a relationship with his agent.”

He then spoke on the role that Inter manager Jose Mourinho played in convincing the player to arrive at Inter.

“It was thanks to Mourinho that I convinced Eto’o. In the end we sold Ibra for Eto’o plus €50 million. It is too bad that Zlatan got on badly with Guardiola at Barcelona and I am sorry for this.”

He was then asked about the ongoing media speculation surrounding the future of Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.

“I have read that Lionel Messi has specifically asked for him, but I don’t know the situation so I can’t express myself.”

Branca then went on to confirm that the Nerazzurri tried to make an attempt to sign Messi back in the Summer of 2008.

“It’s true, we moved discreetly, but Leo didn’t want to leave because he was very grateful to a club that signed him as a child and believed in him so much and helped him overcome those health problems he had.”

Branca then went on to discuss Wesley Sneijder who was pivotal in Inter’s treble winning success and even revealed that the Dutchman was not specifically asked for by Jose Mourinho.

“I knew he was the perfect play maker to complete us. We finalised a deal at three in the morning on August 26. We presented him on the 28th and he took to the field in the derby on the 29th. He played a wonderful game.

“Was he on Mourinho’s wishlist? No, because he never gave us any lists, he just asked us to sign Ricardo Carvalho and Deco, who he had won the UEFA Cup and Champions League with at Porto.

“We, the club management, then veered toward signing Lucio and Sneijder because Jose had not placed any type of diktat.”

In conclusion, he wished Inter’s current owners all the best in their bid to take Inter back to the top of the world.

“The most difficult thing for them is to understand how Italian football works as they come from another lifestyle but I wish them and the club the best.”
