Fabrizio Biasin On Inter Linked Mertens: “He Made The Decision To Stay At Napoli With His Heart”

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Biasin has explained why Dries Mertens has opted to extend his contract with Napoli instead of leaving for pastures new this Summer.

The Belgian national team player looked set to leave Napoli when his contract expired at the end of next month and reports suggested that Inter were on the verge of signing him but the former PSV Eindhoven attacker has made a u-turn.

“He made the choice with his heart which is increasingly rare in the world of football. He waited for a step forward from De Laurentiis and this step has come, adapting his contract,” Biasin explained during an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva show ‘Microfono Aperto’ earlier on today.

Biasin then went on to speak about Inter’s reported interest in signing Atalanta full back Robin Gosens, who has also been linked with Inter’s arch rivals Juventus and French side Lyon.

“Inter already liked him a lot a year ago but the problem is that Atalanta kept him tight. He is a very appetising player to clubs, he doesn’t miss a game.”

Recent reports in the media have suggested that the Bergamo based club want between €25-30 million for the German, who has a contract with them until 2022. This season he has eight goals and five assists in 30 appearances.

Milan Mayor Sala: “I Like Inter & AC Milan’s New Stadium Project More Now”

Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has revealed that he likes the new look stadium project that Inter and AC Milan put forward in recent weeks.

In the past few weeks the clubs shared revised plans for their new shared state of the art stadium with the new plans a lot more in line with the requests of the Milan city council, who were unhappy with the initial projects presented, mainly because the club’s current stadium, the historic San Siro, was going to be entirely demolished.

However, parts of San Siro, which has been around for close to 100 years now, will remain as part of the two newly presented projects put together by The Populous Group and Manica/Cmr Sportium.

“Now I like their project more,” Sala remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai 2 earlier on today.

“I don’t mind the idea that they presented. I wasn’t so keen at the beginning, but this project leaves a lot to see and San Siro remains in some way, open to many sports with a project that is also free for the citizens.

“However, the stadium is an issue that will prove divisive because we’re all coaches and therefore we’ll be split on such a matter.

“It’s difficult to speak right now on behalf of the council because it has to go from there, how it’ll be considered.

“I like the project more now, but we haven’t reached a synthesis yet because the topic of discussion is currently volumetric rights.

“It’s clear the two teams aren’t building the stadium just for the structure itself, otherwise they wouldn’t receive a return on their investment and they’d have to do something else.”

He also shared his views on whether he thinks the currently on hold 2019/20 Serie A season should resume.

“I am in favour of it resuming. Let’s see how the contagion will evolve and how much we will be able to keep it under control.”

Italian Report Highlights Inter Striker Lukaku Is Having Best League Season Of His Career

Romelu Lukaku is central to Inter’s project now and will be in the future too according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Belgian national team striker joined the club in a club record €65 million transfer deal from Premier League side Manchester United this past Summer and he has starred in his first season wearing the Nerazzurri shirt.

Inter manager Antonio Conte will rely heavily on Lukaku to deliver the goods if/when the 2019/20 season resumes and will also similarly rely on him in the seasons to come as well.

Lukaku has statistically had his best season to date so far in league action with him averaging 0.68 goals per game, which is 0.01 better than his best ever season when he netted 25 goals in 37 games for Everton.

The report goes on to add that the player could also set a record for most goals scored by a Serie A debutant in the last 10 years with him needing six goals in Inter’s remaining 13 league games to set the record.

Lukaku has formed a solid partnership with Lautaro Martinez this season but speculation persists about Lautaro’s future and Lukaku could possibly find himself with a new strike partner next term with Inter seemingly interested in RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Paris Saint Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

Man City Courting Panatinaikos Starlet Vagiannidis Who Is In Advanced Negotiations With Inter

There are a number of clubs ready to come forward and compete with Inter for Panathinaikos youngster Georgios Vagiannidis according to a report from the online edition of Greek news outlet SportDog.gr.

Inter are in advanced negotiations to bring the highly rated young defender to the club but at least three other clubs, Manchester City, Sevilla and an unnamed club, have gotten into contact with Vagiannidis regarding a possible move to their club.

Although negotiations are at an advanced stage with Inter, the negotiations are by no means done and the door has not been closed on anyone as of yet.

Inter and interested clubs will not need to negotiate with Panathinaikos to land Vagiannidis and will only have to pay a FIFA determined compensation amount of €400,000.

Vagiannidis has made his first team debut for the Greek Super League side this term but has almost exclusively played for their under 19 side.

All in all he has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored five goals and provided a single assist.

Inter Could Hold Off From Trying To Sign Udinese’s Juan Musso Until 2021

Inter could hold off from making a move for Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso until the Summer of 2021 according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Musso joined his current employers, who he is contracted to until 2023, back in the Summer of 2018 from Racing Club and has been one of the best goalkeepers in Italy since his arrival at the Stadio Friuli.

Inter consider the Argentine shot stopper to be the ideal long term replacement for current number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and the player himself has also expressed a liking toward the idea of joining Inter.

The report does however warn that AC Milan have also developed an interest in signing Musso in the event that Gianluigi Donnarumma departs the club in the coming months.

With a move for Musso seemingly on hold for the time being, Inter will utilise Ionut Andrei Radu as the Slovenian’s understudy for the 2020/21 season.

Inter Tell Chelsea They Wont Pay €12M To Keep Victor Moses – Only Prepared To Pay €6M

Chelsea owned Victor Moses is facing an uncertain future with Inter who deem the €12 million buying option they have to be too expensive according to a report from the online edition of British newspaper The Sun.

Moses joined Inter on loan for the remainder of the season back in the January transfer window and Inter obtained the option to buy him for the above amount as part of the deal.

Inter have gotten in touch with Chelsea and told them they would be willing to pay no more than €6.6 million to sign the Nigerian international on a permanent basis.

The report goes on to state that Inter manager Antonio Conte is a big fan of the former Wigan Athletic player and Inter could seek to extend his loan deal by a further season.

It also adds that Ashley Young is set to stay with Inter past the end of this season with the Nerazzurri club having reached an agreement over a new one year deal with the 34-year-old.

Inter Not Prioritizing Signing Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa Amidst Interest From Juventus & Man Utd

Inter have other priorities to Federico Chiesa according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

Inter have been strongly linked with a move for the highly rated 22-year-old winger for some time alongside arch rivals Juventus but for the time being the report claims that Inter’s focus is elsewhere, namely on signing Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United are also interested in signing Chiesa, who Fiorentina will not stand in the way of leaving provided they get an offer in the region of €70 million for him. It is still entirely possible that he could sign a contract extension with them.

The report also goes on to explain that Inter, Juventus, Napoli and Roma linked Gaetano Castrovilli will not be allowed to leave Fiorentina in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

Paris Saint Germain have also shown an interest in the 23-year-old but Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso is adamant that he will be staying with the club.

Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri: “Inter Coach Antonio Conte Is Fantastic, I Could Return To The Serie A”

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has refused to rule out the possibility of a return to play in Italy one day in the future amid links over a possible return in the media.

The full back has been linked with both Inter and Juventus for a good few months now and some reports in the media have suggested that Chelsea would be open to offloading him in order to help them fund their Summer transfer market business.

“I was very happy in Serie A, including with the culture, which is also why I chose to play for Italy,” he began an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

“A return to Serie A could happen, but I have a contract with Chelsea and I’m in no rush to go anywhere. It has been a wonderful experience at Chelsea, as first there was Conte, so obviously it was easier to deal with an Italian coach.

“As for Sarri, I’ve no words for what a marvellous year we had, as we finished third in the Premier League, reached the Carabao Cup Final and won the Europa League. We can’t complain!”

The Brazilian born Italian international then proceeded to speak further on both Conte and Sarri, who are now in charge of Inter and Juventus respectively as well as his former manager at Roma, Luciano Spalletti.

“I learned a lot from Conte, he proved himself to be a fantastic coach, but I think for the time we worked together and the results we achieved, I got even more from Sarri.

“Spalletti at Roma is more of a friend or a father figure, he talks to you every day, asks about your family, makes sure you’re happy. Sarri is more focused on the pitch, but you can tell he’s got a gigantic heart, even if he doesn’t speak as much.

“They are quite similar, although Sarri is more tactical and focused, while Spalletti leaves a little more room for fun in his training sessions. Sarri definitely got angrier!”

This season the 25-year-old, who is under contract with Chelsea until the end of the 2021/22 season, has made 18 appearances across all competitions to date. In 1341 minutes on the field, the former Roma, Palermo and Santos player has contributed a single assist.

Chelsea Join Inter In Race To Sign PSG Striker Edinson Cavani & Lyon Striker Moussa Dembele

Chelsea have two Inter transfer targets among their own list of transfer targets ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from the online edition of British news outlet The Sun.

Having failed to sign Dries Mertens, just like Inter did, the Blues are now being forced to change their plans for attacking reinforcements and as per the report the management of the Premier League club have come up with five names who they could pursue moves for.

Paris Saint Germain’s Edinson Cavani is one of them. The Uruguayan international’s contract with Paris Saint Germain is due to expire at the end of next month and he has also been linked to Inter, Inter Miami, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

The other Inter target also on Chelsea’s list is Lyon’s Moussa Dembele. The former Celtic player has starred this season for the Ligue 1 outfit and on top of Inter, Chelsea face competition from Manchester United for his signature.

Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic, Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa make up the remainder of the list.
