Inter are looking to sign three Belgian players on a free transfer in the summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is an expert of signing good players on a free transfer, having helped to build the current dominant Juventus squad in part with players signed for free.

All three players are Belgium internationals, which means that striker Romelu Lukaku could prove decisive in convincing his compatriots to head to Milan, the report continues.

The first player is Napoli forward Dries Mertens, the report continues, a good friend of Lukaku’s. The Partenopei are hoping to keep the 33-year-old but he may be looking for a change of scenery.

The other two players that Inter are keen to sign are Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen and Paris Saint-Germain full back Thomas Meunier. All three players are experienced and may make the difference in next season’s title race.

Inter target Timo Werner is likely to either move to Liverpool or stay at RB Leipzig for another season, according to a report from International media outlet The Athletic earlier today.

The report details how the 24-year-old German forward has been identified by Inter as a possible replacement for 22-year-old Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, should the player be sold to Barcelona in the summer. Should the European champions fail to sign Werner this summer, the player would stay in Germany for another season with Leipzig.

Inter are interested in signing Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, according to a report from Italian media outlet CalcioNapoli24 earlier today.
