Inter Vice President Zanetti: “With Mourinho In Charge We Weren’t Afraid Of Anyone”

Legendary Inter captain and current club vice president Javier Zanetti has admitted that when Jose Mourinho was the manager of the club the team would have done anything for him.

Mourinho oversaw two highly successful years on Inter’s bench and was the man who guided Inter to their historic treble winning season back in 2009/10.

“You would have jumped into a fire for Mourinho. With him in charge we were not afraid of anyone,” Zanetti remarked in an interview with Italian magazine Sport Week.

Mourinho took charge at Inter in the Summer of 2008 off the back of a highly successful spell in charge of Premier League side Chelsea and in his two years in charge he managed 108 games across all competitions.

The Portuguese manager, who is now in charge at Tottenham Hotspur, won 68 games in charge and sensationally lost just 15 games.

Zanetti joined Inter in the Summer of 1995 from Banfield and went on to spend a total of 19 seasons with the club, the majority he spent as captain of the club.

Inter & Barcelona Legend Luis Suarez: “Inter Want The Highest Possible Sum of Money For Lautaro Martinez”

Legendary former Inter and Barcelona midfielder Luis Suarez believes that the amount of reported interest in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is evidence of him being what he describes as an interesting player.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team forward has found himself continuously linked with a move to Barcelona ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window but the Blaugrana club are not the only club to have shown an interest in signing him.

Reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid have all also shown an interest in him at some stage as of late.

“I know little about Lautaro, because I have seen few Inter matches, but they speak very well of him. I know he is very good and that he has scored many goals in the league. He is a very interesting player if so many teams want him,” Suarez remarked in an interview with Spanish news outlet Marca.

“Messi knows Lautaro well because he plays in the national team with him. If he says yes, it means he is as comfortable with Lautaro as he is with Suárez.

“Inter are now interested in collecting the highest possible amount of money for him.”

Suarez joined Inter in the Summer of 1961 from Barcelona and was an integral part in Helenio Herrera’s Grande Inter side in the 1960s. The one time Balon d’Or winner made 329 appearances for Inter, in which he scored 55 goals.

Felipe Melo: “I’d Like To See Inter’s Lautaro Martinez At Barcelona, Imagine Him, Suarez, Messi & Neymar Together”

Former Inter midfielder Felipe Melo has tipped Inter striker Lautaro Martinez to have a bright future and has admitted he would like to see him at Barcelona.

The highly rated 22-year-old has drawn continuous links over a move to the Blaugrana club ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window.

“I know him because I support Inter in Italy, at 32 I realised the dream of playing there even if I had been at Juventus previously,” Melo began an interview with Argentine news outlet Olé.

“Lautaro is a player who, in addition to working a lot for the team even without the ball like Gabriel Jesus, scores many goals.

“He is a forward for the future for me. He has strength and power and I like him.

“I would like to see Lautaro at Barcelona, who now has Suarez who is among the best strikers in the world. Imagine them two, plus Messi and Neymar.”

He also spoke briefly on Lautaro’s Inter striker partner Romelu Lukaku, who has had a sensational first season at the Nerazzurri following a club record transfer arrival this past Summer from Manchester United.

“Lukaku is very powerful but he does not have great quality. He is a bomber and he is completed by Lautaro.”

Melo, who is currently on the books of Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Palmeiras, then went on to name a quartet of players who he believe fit the mould of being a modern day striker.

“I really like Cavani, Suarez, Gabriel Jesus and Lautaro Martinez.”

Melo joined Inter in the Summer of 2015 from Turkish Super Lig outfit Galatasaray and spent 18 months with the club before departing for his current employers in January 2017.

Whilst with Inter, Melo made 38 appearances, in which he scored one goal and tallied one assist.

Italian Media Reports Inter Deem Christian Eriksen Not For Sale But Expecting More From Him

Inter are not considering the possibility of selling Christian Eriksen after his poor start to life at the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Eriksen joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the most recent January transfer window but far from lived up to expectations in the appearances he made before football was brought to a halt due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Whilst Inter are not planning on selling Eriksen they are expecting more from him. It is now on Eriksen to prove his worth and show whether he will be central to the club’s project or a luxury player who is not one of the most important players to the side.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to explain that if the 2019/20 Serie A season is to resume Eriksen may not necessarily be in Inter manager Antonio Conte’s starting line-up and Conte could test Eriksen in his preferred attacking midfield role.
