Spanish Media Claims Lautaro Martinez Edging Closer To Barcelona After Inter Coach Conte Accepts Man City’s Joao Cancelo

Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona is as good as a done deal, at least according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.

Inter had asked Barcelona for a player as part of a deal but rejected the chance to acquire Emerson Royal and Nelson Semedo.

Barcelona intend to swap Semedo with Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo and the Blaugrana club will not hesitate to move Cancelo on to Inter, who Inter are very welcome to acquiring after Inter manager Antonio Conte gave his blessing.

Jorge Mendes, who is the agent of both Semedo and Cancelo, is now at work trying to make ends meet but should not find doing so too difficult given Semedo does not want to sign an extension with Barcelona and Cancelo wants to leave Manchester City.

The report goes on to explain that Cancelo is very open to a return to Inter and in the coming days he will give his ok to a move to the Nerazzurri.

At that point Lautaro’s move to Barcelona will be one step away from materialising and Barcelona hope to be able to wrap a deal up, which will also include Arturo Vidal, for him by next week and then announce his signing in June.

Inter manager Antonio Conte has told the club to go out and sign Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani and Napoli striker Dries Mertens in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

Cavani and Mertens contracts with their respective employers are both set to expire at the end of this season and as a result both players could be brought in on free transfers and would really bolster Inter’s attacking department.

Aside from players capable of helping the club make an instant leap in quality, the report goes on to add that Inter are also wanting to bring in young players with big potential.

Inter To Go After Liverpool Target Timo Werner Or Lyon’s Moussa Dembele If Lautaro Martinez Leaves For Barcelona

Inter will go in for either RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner or Lyon’s Moussa Dembele if Lautaro Martinez is to depart the club in the coming months according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Lautaro has been continuously linked with a move to Spanish powerhouses Barcelona ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window and as per the report Inter will do a three way deal with Barcelona and Manchester City.

Barcelona will send Nelson Semedo to Manchester City who will send Joao Cancelo to Inter and Barcelona will also give Inter a substantial cash sum for Lautaro.

The money Inter receieve will be more than enough to bring in a suitable replacement for the 22-year-old Argentine international and the report claims Inter have settled on bringing in either Werner, who has also been linked to Liverpool, or former Celtic player Dembele.

Werner has a release clause in his contract that will be either €50 million or €60 million depending on if RB Leipzig win the Bundesliga whilst Lyon want €40 million for Dembele.

The report goes on to conclude that Inter have shelved the idea of bringing in Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Napoli continue to hope that they can keep him at the club whilst Chelsea are also hopeful of being able to sign him but the report insists that Inter have a clear advantage.

Inter Legend Javier Zanetti: “It Was An Honour & Privilege To Captain Inter, I’ll Carry My Last Match At San Siro In My Heart Forever”

Legendary Inter captain and current club vice president Javier Zanetti has spoken on a range of Inter related topics in an Instagram Live chat which was broadcast on the official FIFA World Cup account.

He started by speaking about former Inter teammate Il Fenomeno Ronaldo.

“I still remember the goal he scored in the UEFA Cup final against Lazio when he skipped past Marchegiani. It was a great night and an extraordinary goal. Ronaldo was extraordinary.”

He then went on to speak about another former teammate of his in Adriano.

“He had enormous potential. I remember his first game with Inter against Real Madrid and he scored a free kick, which was like a missile, that went right into the top corner. It was tremendous. He had great physical strength, strong mentality and great quality. He was a great striker.”

Zanetti proceeded to discuss what the best moment of his playing career was.

“That night in Madrid. Not only because I had won the Champions League as captain of Inter, who had not won it for 45 years but also because I made my 700th appearance for Inter.

“It was a great night for me, my teammates and Inter fans. We won the treble and are the only Italian club to have done it.”

The former Argentine national team player progressed to discuss former Inter manager Jose Mourinho, who guided Inter to the historic treble win.

“He had great ability and personality and took care of all the details and was always so attentive to everything. He was a great motivator. Jose always made it clear that we could do more.

“We were a team of great players but also a group of great personalities and great men. We had two fantastic years under him.”

Zanetti then looked back on his arrival at Inter which came way back in the Summer of 1995 when he arrived from Superliga Argentina side Banfield.

“It was a great change for me. In my head I was thinking about staying with Banfield and growing and maybe end up at a big club in Argentina then go to Europe but when I joined Inter I had to be prepared.

“It was a great responsibility to take on and I didn’t know whether I was ready for a club like Inter or to play in Italy. From my first moments at Inter I released this was a club who had the right values. Inter is family.”

Zanetti then reminisced about being made Inter captain in 2001 when he replaced Ronaldo as club captain.

“It was a wonderful experience. I always wanted my teammates to respect me on and off the pitch and wearing the armband was both an honour and a privilege.”

Upon his retirement in 2014, he took up his current role as vice president of the club and he then gave an insight into what it is like.

“When I was getting ready to retire from football, I always felt that I could then contribute as a part of the management team. When I finished playing I was asked to be vice president and I understand that it is an important role and requires responsibility.

“I had to prepare myself so I studied finance and marketing at university in Milan because I did not want to be a vice president only dedicated to the sporting side of things.

“I work in a team with others and I like it. Everyone has something that they can give. Teamwork is needed to help the team win on the pitch.”

Next he recalled his last game as an Inter player at San Siro which came against Lazio.

“It was fantastic. It was a great feeling because the whole stadium came to bid me farewell. If I could have I would have embraced everyone who was there. It is a moment that I will carry forever in my heart.”

In conclusion he went back to discuss the 2009/10 season, specifically the Champions League win and his celebrations after the match.

“My face after the match was deformed by the happiness of winning a historic trophy. In my first 10 years at Inter we only won a UEFA Cup but we knew our time would come and hard work always pays off. We then won everything. Raising the Champions League trophy was a unique feeling.”

Goran Pandev On Inter’s Treble Winning Season: “We Did Something Extraordinary & I Don’t Know If Any Other Team Will Be Able To Repeat It”

Inter treble winning season hero Goran Pandev has reminisced about the club’s historic 2009/10 season, 10 years on from the success.

“It’s been ten years already, but those memories always come back to me,” the current Genoa striker explained in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

“We did something extraordinary and I don’t know if any other team will be able to repeat it. We were a very strong and united group.”

Pandev proceeded to sing the praises of former Inter manager Jose Mourinho and what he did whilst working under him.

“He was a wonderful person and a manager who gave us so much. I was the starter in the most important matches, including the Champions League final. I did everything the manager asked of me, including playing as a winger, even though I have always been a first or second striker.”

Next he was asked what the most memorable goals he scored during his time with Inter were.

“I will always remember the goal in the derby that we won outnumbered and the the goal against Bayern that allowed us to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals in 2010/11. I have many fond memories of my time at Inter.”

He was then asked about the reported interest that Inter showed in him right at the end of the most recent January transfer window.

“There was something, but even if Inter is the team that brought me to Italy and changed my life, I felt I had to stay here at Genoa. The club wanted me to stay. Here at Genoa people really love me and it is right that I end my career at the oldest club in Italy.”

The 36-year-old, who has also played for the likes of Napoli and Lazio, had two spells with Inter which totalled five seasons. In that time the North Macedonia national team player made a total of 69 appearances across all competitions for Inter, in which he scored eight goals and provided 15 assists for his Nerazzurri teammates.

Inter & Venezia Set To Meet To Discuss Samuele Longo’s Future

Inter and Venezia will meet when possible to discuss the future of Samuele Longo according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Despite the fact the meeting has not yet taken place, everything is pointing toward Longo remaining with the Venice based club for the duration of next season too.

The report goes on to add that Longo will possibly sign a one year contract extension with Inter too which would mean he would be contracted to the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Since his arrival at Venezia, Longo has made seven appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided a single assist.

Inter Legend Beppe Bergomi: “I Had COVID-19, I Was A Fool & Underestimated It”

Legendary Inter defender and former club captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has revealed that he has had Coronavirus and confessed that he underestimated the disease.

“I did a serological test and my result came back positive for IgG antibodies and negative for IgM antibodies. At the beginning of March, I was sick. I had problems with my sense of smell and in my back, but not with my lungs,” he explained in an Instagram Live chat with Italian television presenter Giacomo ‘Ciccio’ Valenti.

“Now, luck wanted me to have the antibodies, but they explained to me that it won’t protect me 100 per cent because the virus changes. If I am to get it again, I should get a lighter version.

“I wasn’t afraid, but I always felt cold, I had to use two heaters. I thought it was a flu, instead I was positive.”

He then went on to reveal that he was mocked by his friends who accused him of thinking too much about it all.

“My friends made fun of me and told me I was thinking too much about it, but I was not well, I was always in pain, I was weak. I couldn’t sit down because of the pain in my back, I was always on my feet.”

Next Bergomi, who spent his entire career with Inter, revealed he has now recovered and is doing a lot better.

“After a while, the pain went away, but everything lasted for 20 to 25 days. Now, I’m doing great, I started running again. I only did the serological test, I tried to do the swab, but they told me that after 30 days I should be OK.”

He then went on to explain how he underestimated the virus and admitted to continue working as Inter academy coach and football pundit through it.

“I was a fool, I underestimated it. On February 21, I had the last training session and one of the boys had pneumonia, from there on we didn’t play anymore.

“On February 26, I was in Naples to comment on the match against Barcelona, then I was in Perugia to watch the match against Benevento.

“In my opinion, I underestimated it before, I’ve been in too much contact with people.”

Bergomi came through the ranks at Inter and made his first team debut back in 1979. He would spend the following 20 years in the first team before hanging up his boots at the end of the 1998/99 season.

The now 56-year-old made 754 appearances across all competitions for the club, the second most appearances anyone has ever made for the club with only Javier Zanetti having managed more.
