Hellas Verona Meet With Inter & Lazio Linked Marash Kumbulla For Contract Extension Talks

Hellas Verona are getting closer to agreeing a contract extension with top prospect Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired late last night.

The Gialloblu club have had a first meeting with Kumbulla to discuss a new contract and the meeting is understood to have went positively.

Hellas Verona are working to sign him to a contract extension as a precaution in the event that he does not leave the club until next Summer, when he would then just have one year left on his current deal which could impact how much they can get for him.

Kumbulla, who has one goal in 25 appearances this term, has been strongly linked to both Inter and Lazio among other clubs for a good few months now and the report goes on to add that even if he signs a contract renewal, him leaving the club cannot be ruled out.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “Very Happy, We Deserved The Win Over Torino”

Inter manager Antonio Conte has admitted that he is very happy following his side’s 3-1 triumph over Torino at San Siro last night, a result which has pushed Inter up to second place.

Inter fell behind after club captain and number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic dropped the ball at the feet of clinical Andrea Belotti and were unable to get back level by the time half time came around.

Inter scored three goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half to turn the match in their favour and they professionally saw the remainder of the match out.

“I am very happy, but I was sincerely happy even after Verona, even if we did concede a goal at the end. Today the negative moment took place after 20 minutes, before that Torino had never even passed the half-way line,” Conte explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match.

“We could have got nervous and conceding could have destabilised us but instead the boys were good at continuing to do what we work for. It was a deserved win. We have deserved more from our recent games but it is useless to look back. We are already thinking about the next one.”

Next the former Italian national team boss spoke on Inter’s aims and ambitions for the remainder of the Serie A season, with six games left to play.

“We want to secure Champions League qualification many days before the end of the season. Having the gap we do over the likes of Napoli and Roma is no small feat.

“In the remaining six games, we must continue to grow and play this type of football. In my opinion, the remainder of the season can be good for next season. We can lay the foundations and also understand where we need to improve.

“This is my first year here, but I have found great availability and I am very happy.”

In conclusion he was asked if he is working on the small details and spoke on Handanovic’s uncharacteristic error.

“Yes, however, we have conceded a few too many goals lately, but we have the second best defence and have one of the best attacks.

“We score goals, we create many chances and we could have scored many more. On a defensive level we have paid for particular episodes, like with Handanovic,

“Samir is a Swiss watch, which is never wrong, and unfortunately he made this mistake. The attacking mentality we are working on is important and perhaps we expose ourselves to a few more counter-attacks.”

Watch – Highlights Inter 3 – 1 Torino: Alexis Sanchez Stars As Nerazzurri Go 2nd In The Serie A

Inter beat Torino 3-1 in Match Day 32 of the 2019/2020 Serie A season away at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

After the first 45 minutes the Nerazzurri were trailing the guests by a goal after Samir Handanovic made the howler of the season gifting Torino the lead.

However, Inter came out to the second half a completely different team led by a brilliant Alexis Sanchez, and quickly equalized via Ashley Young before taking the leas 2-1 thanks to Diego Godin’s first goal for the Nerazzurri.

The match was killed off when Alexis Sanchez got his second assist of the night when feeding ball to Lautaro Martinez whose shot took a lucky deflection into the goal behind Sirigu.

Player Ratings Inter 3 – 1 Torino: Second Half Heroics Help Nerazzurri Leapfrog Lazio Into 2nd Spot

Another Torino game, another Handanovic howler, another Belotti goal. Looked like Inter would drop points until Ashley Young scored on his second consecutive outing at the Meazza.

That goal was followed 2 minutes later by Godin’s first for Inter and Lautaro’s lucky goal. Torino struggled to look dangerous as much as they tried and Inter managed to jump into 2nd place.

Samir Handanovic – 4.5: Schoolboy-ish error from the captain and the winner of the goalkeeper of the year last season. His worst game in a long time. Never looked secure.

Diego Godin – 6.5: Godin was given acres of space to run into and cross the ball and tried to make it count. The goal was well deserved, and he did well in defense too.

Stefan de Vrij – 6: Poor control for once let him down and led to the corner that cost Inter a goal. Did not dwell on his mistake and made the most of the ball and space.

Alessandro Bastoni – 5.5: Did not look as confident as Bastoni usually does. Torino were too compact for him to make runs or find passes. Not his finest game for sure.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5: The right wing back role does not suit D’Ambrosio at all, especially in the Conte system as that needs some pace and ability to dribble. Struggled.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5.5: Seems like an average player once again. Determination and running as always but nothing of quality to show until very late on when it got easier.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6: Roberto had a decent first half and could easily have had an assist and a goal, but that describes him as a player perfectly. Did not make any howlers.

Ashley Young – 6.5: Ashley looked like Inter’s only creative threat in the first half. Crosses were decent but he made his chances count with a fine goal and performance.

Borja Valero – 5.5: Full of running from the start but as the game wore on, he looked tired and tried to win free kicks that weren’t there. Never gave up though.

Lautaro Martinez – 6: Deserves full marks for effort but not much was on offer for him to convert to goals. Got the goal later and it was obvious his confidence is back.

Alexis Sanchez – 7.5: Heavily marked and didn’t have space to exploit his pace at all in the first half but exploded in the first 20 mins or so. Inter should keep him. Superb.

Antonio Candreva – 5: Should have at least had an assist or scored. Conte and Alexis made their feelings known to Candreva who continues to make poor decisions.

Cristiano Biraghi – 5.5: Lots and lots of running on his flank as Sanga kept him occupied. His job was to secure the flank as a substitute and Conte got what he wanted.

Milan Skriniar – 5.5: Brought on for a tiring Godin and immediately caught cold against a pacy winger. Skriniar is way better than the recent performances suggest.

Christian Eriksen – N/A: Came on much earlier than usual and looked lively. Had a decent shot saved and could have so easily got an assist if not for Sirigu’s reflexes.

Antonio Conte – 5: Conte did not try anything new tonight. Stuck to his guns and this time the plan worked for him. The win will give relief to the team and the coach.

Davide Massa – 5: Missed a clear penalty on Bastoni as per the new rules and sometimes gave away too soft free kicks to both sides. The yellow cards were correct.

Inter – 5 : Another game where Inter struggle but make a comeback. This time though they kept the doors bolted on Torino and came home with 3 comfortable points

Inter Defender Danilo D’Ambrosio: “We Needed This Win, Picking Up 3 Points Always Pleasing”

Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio believes that he and teammates were deserving winners over Torino at San Siro on Monday night.

“This win was needed because we did not get what we wanted and deserved from the last two games. Picking up three points is always pleasing, especially for a team like ours that always gives 100% therefore all three points is the right reward,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match.

D’Ambrosio was then asked what it was like for him to play at wing-back opposed to centre back, where he has been playing quite often this season.

“When you are playing as a wing-back it is normal that you have to do different things than when you play in central defence but when we go out onto the pitch we are never unprepared. I found myself at ease.”

He then went on to speak about the fact that Inter managed to kill the game off, something that they have been unable to do lately which has led to many shaky finishes in matches which have often cost the team.

“Compared to the other times we were good at killing the game off because at 3-1 we managed the ball well. We also had opportunities to make it 4-1.”

The Italian made his 22nd appearance across all competitions to date for the Nerazzurri in the match. He was however unable to add to the two goals he has scored during his time on the park, which now totals just shy of 1500 minutes following the match with Torino.

Antonio Conte: “Thanks To Beppe Marotta For What He Said, I’d Never Be A Burden To Inter”

Inter manager Antonio Conte has admitted that he has always felt trusted by club management amid rumours regarding his future as manager of the club circulate in the Italian media.

Inter fell behind early doors to an Andrea Belotti goal which came after a Samir Handanovic mistake but did not collapse and at the start of the second half Inter overturned things in their favour thanks to goals from Ashley Young, Diego Godin and Lautaro Martinez.

“We have always been calm, sometimes the criticism helps to compact the team,” he began his post-match press conference at the San Siro.

He was then asked about the comments Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta made regarding his [Conte’s] future with the club amid intense speculation suggesting he could leave at the end of the season.

“I want to thank Marotta for saying these things. I have never felt as if I had no confidence in me by the club. Marotta is a person who strongly wanted me here. I see absolutely no distrust from the management in me and if it felt like that, I would be the fist to go. I would never be a burden to Inter.”

Next Conte was asked whether he is happy with the data and performances that the team have produced.

“I always have a glass that is half-full when analysing the matches, especially when the results are not positive. There are important numbers that are a testament to the work that we are doing.

“We are a team that has increased the numbers more than anything else. We have the highest danger index in the league. We are much more unpredictable than before.”

In conclusion, the former Italian national team boss was asked whether he is satisfied with being in second place in the Serie A standings.

“Our goal is to continue to grow in all respects. I wish to repeat that this is the first year. I signed a three year contract and the project is to get back to winning trophies again.

“In the past I have won in the fist year and whilst there is a long way to go, there is a great desire to work and build something important.”

Photo – Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez Celebrates Inter’s Win Over Torino

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to share some images of himself from last night’s 3-1 triumph at home to Torino.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team player provided the assist for Inter’s first goal and got himself back on the score sheet as he scored Inter’s final goal of the game, even if his shot was massively helped into the net by a deflection.

This season he has made 39 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 18 goals and provided six assists.
