Spanish Media Confirms: Inter Won’t Sell Barcelona Target Lautaro Martinez For Less Than €111M

Inter will only let Lautaro Martinez depart the club this Summer if his €111 million release clause is triggered according to a report from Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar.

La Liga giants Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for the highly rated 22-year-old Argentine national team striker and it has been widely reported that they would like to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him rather than pay his release clause.

Aguilar has claimed that Inter are not up for selling or doing any sort of exchange and the only way that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and Inter manager Antonio Conte will allow him to leave the club is if his release clause is triggered.

Aguilar goes on to claim that if a team does go on to trigger the former Racing Club player’s release clause, Inter will spend the money according to their needs.

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists for his teammates.

Gianluca Di Marzio: “Inter & Barcelona Put Lautaro Talks On Hold, Griezmann Not Going To Inter”

Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Inter and Barcelona are in talks over a possible player(s) plus cash deal for Lautaro Martinez but said talks are currently on hold.

Barcelona are said to have identified the highly rated 22-year-old as their number one transfer target ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window but do not want to pay his €111 million release clause and would rather negotiate with Inter on a player(s) plus cash basis for the striker.

“Barcelona want Lautaro Martinez but are unable to pay the €111 million release clause. For this reason, the Catalans and Inter are discussing a cash plus player deal which could include players such as Arturo Vidal, Nelson Semedo and Junior Firpo,” Di Marzio remarked whilst in the studios of Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

2018 World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann has been linked with Inter in recent weeks but Di Marzio has shot down those reports and claims that Griezmann will not be moving to Inter.

“Griezmann to the Nerazzurri? No. The Frenchman has too high a salary and his name is not part of the negotiations. At the moment, the talks are on hold and in the next few days it will be up to the Barça to decide whether to return to them or not.”

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date. The Argentine national team striker has scored 16 goals and has provided a total of four assists to his teammates.

Italian Report Claims Lukaku Out To Write History At Inter With Goals Scored In First Season

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is wanting to make Inter history with his goal scoring according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The legendary Il Fenomeno Ronaldo netted no less than 34 goals across all competitions in his debut season with the club and another Inter legend in Diego Milito found the back of the net 30 times in his first campaign with the club.

Lukaku is currently sitting on 23 goals across all competitions to date and if the season resumes he will have at least 16 games left to play to catch up with Milito and possibly surpass him as well as doing the same with Ronaldo.

If Inter are to make it to the Coppa Italia final and progress further in the Europa League the Belgian national team players chances of achieving this will obviously increase.

Lukaku joined Inter this past Summer from Premier League side Manchester United in a club record €65 million transfer deal and is under contract with the club until 2024.

Italian Sports Minister Spadafora: “Resuming Serie A Is An Increasingly Unlikely Possibility”

Italian minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora has shared his belief that the chance of the 2019/20 season resuming is growing increasingly unlikely.

Sports at all levels across Italy have been on hold for just about two months now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains unknown when the season will resume, if at all.

Last week Lega Serie A and the 20 clubs voted in favour of unanimously resuming the season if the government allow it but there is still no agreement with regard to dates it could resume.

“Negotiations are in progress between the scientific committee and the FIGC, who has presented a medical protocol that was not considered sufficient,” Spadafora remarked in an interview with Italia broadcaster TG La7 earlier on today.

Next Spadafora, who has been in office since 2018, spoke on the possible resumption of training and the season itself.

“However, I always said that resuming training does not necessarily mean resuming the season. I see resuming Serie A as an increasingly unlikely possibility.

“The players want to resume training, quite rightly, but if I were the President of a club, I’d think more about how to start the next season in safety.”

He concluded by admitting that he thinks that France will not be the only top league to decide to cancel the remainder of the season.

“France won’t be the last league to decide to stop here and this could prompt Italy to take the same approach.”
