Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen 1 Of 3 Candidates To Replace Diego Godin At Inter

Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen is one of a trio of players that Inter have identified as a potential replacement for Diego Godin according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

For a few weeks now reports have stated that Godin could leave Inter after just a season with the club with him having struggled to adapt, especially to Inter manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

The experienced Uruguayan defender has drawn links to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in particular and if he goes Inter will not be found unprepared.

Aside from having Vertonghen, who could be signed on a free transfer, as an option, Inter have also identified highly rated Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla as someone they could bring in.

The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to add that the other player on Inter’s radar is Torino and Italy defender Armando Izzo, who has been offered to Inter by his agent Mino Raiola.

Inter Lurking In Background As Dries Mertens Contract Talks With Napoli Stall

Inter are keeping a close eye on Dries Mertens situation with Napoli after contract renewal talks have stalled between the parties according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter CEO Marotta’s List Of Midfield Reinforcements Include Barcelona’s Vidal, Brescia’s Tonali & Sassuolo’s Locatelli Among Others

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has come up with a list of players who could potentially be brought in this Summer to bolster Inter’s midfield department according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Brescia’s €50 million rated teen sensation Sandro Tonali is one of the first names on the list but is far from being alone on it, the report from the Rome based newspaper explains.

Marotta also really likes Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli despite the fact Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso is absolutely reluctant to let the Italian midfielder, who has been a real revelation this season, go.

Inter also remain keen on signing Arturo Vidal from Barcelona and the fact he has little over a year left on his current deal will help Inter out in negotiations with the Blaugrana club.

Finally, the report states that Marotta has his eye on Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli, who has been one of the best performing midfielders in Serie A this term.

Cavani currently earns €12.5 million a season and the report goes on to state that in order to join Inter he would have to agree to a pay cut.

Former Inter Striker Belfodil’s Ex-Agent: “He Was Immature & Didn’t Understand How Lucky He Was”

George Atangana, the former agent of Inter striker Ishak Belfodil has revealed his client did not fully appreciate the position he found himself in whilst on Inter’s books.

The Algerian national team forward joined Inter in the Summer of 2013 from fellow Serie A side Parma and he would last just a single season with Inter before Parma bought him back.

Six months into his spell with the Nerazzurri he was even loaned out to Livorno and just like his time with Inter, the spell was far from fruitful.

Atangana started an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com by recalling how his former client came to end up at the Nerazzurri.

“We reached an immediate agreement with Inter but the clubs themselves struggled to find an agreement over a transfer formula. Inter then got the deal over the line by offering Antonio Cassano and at that point my professional life changed.”

He then went on to share his belief that Belfodil, who has also played for the likes of Lyon, Baniyas and Standard Liege during his career, lacked maturity.

“Talent in football is not everything and Belfodil has shown it. He was immature and he could not understand how lucky he was. He had an attitude and after being on the bench the idea of him leaving developed.

“Before he accepted a move to Livorno he refused 12 offers and he risked driving me crazy. I then handed him the power to do what he wanted and let him go. It was not a simple period.”

Atangana then went on to discuss how Belfodil has changed since then.

“Now he has become a man. He has matured and has a beautiful family. Ishak has found himself and it was only a matter of time. He is doing great things at the moment and I hope he will continue like this.”

The now 28-year-old, who is at German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, made just 10 appearances across all competitions during his time with Inter, in which he scored a single goal and provided a single assist.

Alvaro Recoba: “I’d Have Never Imagined Having The Career That I Did At Inter”

In an interview with Italian YouTube sensation Mario Inter, former Inter and Uruguay national team attacker Alvaro Recoba has spoken on a range of Inter related topics.

He started by explaining what made him decide to join Inter over other options that he had at the time.

“Before arriving in Italy, I thought about all the other Uruguayans who had played there, above all Ruben Sosa, who was one of my idols.

“Six months before arriving at Inter I had done very well with Nacional, then my agent told me about two possibilities, Inter and Juventus.

“I was a kid, I was only 20-years-old. When I arrived at Inter I found myself in a completely different world, my wife and I were two kids. I had a responsibility to the fans who all depend on you. You determine whether they are happy or sad on a Monday.

“I played with Ronaldo, Ibra, Baggio, Veron and Zanetti and I miss them. If I had been told that I would have had the career I did with Inter I would have never imagined it.”

He then spoke on his relationship with former teammates, many of which are better than others.

“I haven’t heard from Ronaldo again but not for any particular reason. I’ve never been at his level. He was a mega player if we meet again we will have a hug.

“I have a different relationship with Vieri, Zanetti and Almeyda, who I am very close. I speak to Zanetti once a year but I still love him. Almeyda is a brother of mine. I have also stayed in touch with Moriero, Ventola, Di Biagio, Frey, Toldo and Crespo.”

Next he discussed which of the goals he scored for Inter was the best one.

“The first goal I scored against Brescia seems to be one of the best. A goal can be beautiful, I liked it as much as the one against Lazio in Rome. It is difficult to choose.”

He then revealed that former Inter owner and president Massimo Moratti rejected a bid from Barcelona for him.

“In 2001 it looked like I could have gone to Barcelona. Moratti was very close to their president but he immediately said no after just two seconds.”

Recoba joined Inter in 1997 and spent 11 years on the club’s books during which time he made a total of 261 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored 71 goals and provided 26 assists for his teammates.

Recoba won one UEFA Cup, two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana whilst with the club.

Riccardo Ferri: “Lautaro Has Grown A Lot, I Hope He Will Stay At Inter”

Legendary Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has shared his hope that Lautaro Martinez will knock back the advances of Barcelona and stay put at Inter.

The highly rated 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the reigning Spanish champions with reports relating to a possible move coming out almost daily both in the Italian and Spanish media.

Lautaro has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with Inter but it is understood that Barcelona only want to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.

A report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset claimed that Inter have told Barcelona that if they wish to go down that route they must pay €90 million plus send Arturo Vidal on a permanent basis and Antoine Griezmann on a season long loan.

“Lautaro has grown a lot since Icardi left and he can grow even more. Inter will only sell him in order to improve the team, perhaps by signing a couple of players who can raise the level of the team,” Ferri, who spent 13 years of his 15 year playing career on Inter’s books between 1981 and 1994, remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva last night.

“If Barcelona were to present an offer containing a fair amount of money it would be difficult to say but I hope that Lautaro will remain because I consider him one of the best strikers in the world.”
