Inter Striker Lukaku Apologises To Inter Teammates For Recent Comments Made In An Interview

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has now also apologised to his teammates for comments he made in an interview in the past few days according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

In an interview with Kat Kerkhofs, a Belgian television presenter, Lukaku claimed that there was a time when all barring two of Inter’s 25 man first team squad were ill.

This was in fact far from the truth with multiple reports only stating four players showed flu like symptoms around the time Lukaku claimed the whole squad were ill with those players being Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Alessandro Bastoni.

Lukaku apologised to club management and due to him apologising they decided against fining him. On top of apologising to the club management and his teammates, the report also claims that the 26-year-old former Manchester United striker has apologised to the club medical staff as well.

Why Building A New Stadium Will Be More Challenging Than Ever Before For Inter & AC Milan

The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza Stadium which is affectionately referred to locally simple as the San Siro, has served Inter and AC Milan for over 70 years and it seems it will continue to do so following the covid-19 pandemic which is tragically shaping the world as we know it today.

Which means much of what we are left to discuss nowadays is the constant speculation surrounding the future of Lautaro Martínez. It’s hard to believe that it was only in September 2019, that the club has revealed in a press conference two of the shortlisted grand designs for the new 60,000 capacity stadium.

Fast forward 6 months later and the football world is not as lucrative as it once was with matches for the 2019-20 season all but cancelled and potentially whole seasons put to bed without completion. This has a huge knock-on effect on all football clubs, as they see their TV and matchday revenues grind to an unexpected halt.

All of this will be placing the plans for the new €1.2 billion stadium on hold with what was expected to be a three-year building project, involving around 3,500 builders and all of this now seems rather optimistic. The real problem now will be to convince the creditors that both Milan clubs will be able to set a repayment plan that will be realistic to achieve should they go for either “The Rings of Milano” stadium plan or “The Cathedral” stadium plan, which reflects the Duomo and the Galleria in Milan and was designed by American firm Populous.

The newest European stadium to be built is that of Tottenham Hotspur which played its first official match in May 2019 and is estimated to have cost in excess of €1.4 billion, with many delays along the way which were in no way connected to the current pandemic. Much the same as casino sites not connected to what is going on around the world. One might assume that Inter Milan and AC Milan will do everything they possibly can to ensure that the plan still goes ahead.

It was only in February 2020 that it was reported that Milan mayor, Beppe Sala, confirmed that “The teams are bringing a more elaborate and constructive proposal that foresees that San Siro will remain.

However, it will not only remain, but also be dedicated to other sports. It will stay in the centre of the city in an area that is ours. He continues, “Then the teams will build hotels, offices and whatever will allow them to return to the stadium investment. However, the San Siro will remain and become a sports citadel.”

Only time will tell if Inter move into a new Stadium in the next 5 years let alone 10 years.

Inter Captain Handanovic Set To Sign Contract Extension In Coming Weeks

In the coming weeks Samir Handanovic will sign a contract extension with Inter according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

The 35-year-old, who is both Inter’s number one goalkeeper and club captain, has a contract with the club until the end of next season and he will soon put pen to paper on a contract extension until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Inter and the former Udinese shot-stopper have already come to an agreement over a new contract and all that is missing is Handanovic’s signature before it can be officially announced.

The Slovenian international joined Inter back in the Summer of 2012 and he has been virtually ever present for the club ever since.

In his nearly eight years with the club Handanovic, who was named captain little over a year again when Mauro Icardi was stripped of the captaincy, he has made 324 appearances across all competitions and kept 114 clean sheets.

Michele Di Gregorio: “Handanovic Is A Monster, I Want To Captain Inter”

In an Instagram Live chat with journalist Nicolo Schira, Inter goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio has spoken on a number of Inter related topics, firstly starting with his experience in the club’s Primavera side.

“I wish to thank Vecchi and Samaden for the compliments they gave me and because they helped me grow. I spent years in the Primavera. The first season I played little because I had injuries but despite this, the manager wanted me to stay. The following year I hurt myself again. I have always felt the trust of the club in me.”

Di Gregorio, who is currently out on loan at Serie B side Pordenone, then spoke on what it is like to have the chance to train alongside Samir Handanovic.

“It is great to train with the first team, you get to experience real football. Handa is a monster, he impressed me and he understands everything in advance. He is a man of few words but I tried to get as much from him as possible. I liked what Vecchi said about him and that was that he gets better as he gets older.”

Next he discussed his decision to join Pordenone on loan for this season, where he has been virtually ever present.

“They were the club that looked at me with the most conviction, they came to see me in the final playoff match when I was at Novara.”

He then shared his ambition to return to Inter and revealed his desire to follow in the footsteps of Handanovic.

“I want to go back and play at Inter. Inter is my home, I grew up there. It is a dream come true for me and I want to do what Handanovic is doing. I want to stay, achieve things and become captain.”

In conclusion he spoke on goalkeepers he idolised when growing up.

“Other than Handanovic, Julio Cesar is a keeper I liked for the way he behaved on the pitch. However, whilst I’ve grown up I’ve realised I’m more like Handanovic, I’m a colder type of person.”

This season Di Gregorio, who has a contract with Inter until the end of the 2021/22 season, has made 26 appearances across all competitions for Pordenone in which he has kept a total of eight clean sheets.

Inter Linked Barcelona Defender Junior Firpo: “I’m Very Happy At Barcelona”

Barcelona defender Junior Firpo has reiterated that he is currently happy at Barcelona amid reports he could be moved on in the coming months.

The Dominican Republic born Spanish youth national team player has been linked with a possible Summer transfer window switch to Inter as part of a deal for Lautaro Martinez, with Barcelona looking to do a player(s) plus cash deal for the 22-year-old Argentine national team forward rather than pay his €111 million release clause.

“I am not completely satisfied with my performances, even though I actually played more than I expected. I am very happy here and will try to always give my best, I certainly do not lack desire and motivation,” he explained in an Instagram Live chat earlier on today.

The 23-year-old full back joined the Blaugrana this past Summer from fellow La Liga outfit Real Betis on a five year deal and has played semi-regularly in his first campaign at the Camp Nou club.

Hellas Verona Want To Extend Loan Deals For Inter Duo Salcedo & Dimarco

Hellas Verona wish to keep both of Eddie Salcedo and Federico Dimarco past the end of this season according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Salcedo joined the Gialloblu club on a season long loan from Inter this past Summer whilst Dimarco joined his fellow Inter player in Verona in the January transfer window in a loan deal until the end of the season.

Salcedo impressed the management at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi with his performances prior to being sidelined by injury whilst Dimarco has not had too much time to impress since his arrival given the stop to football due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that they want to keep both players at the club regardless of possible negotiations with Inter that could see them acquire both players as part of a deal that would send the highly promising Marash Kumbulla to Inter.
