Italian Journalist Tommaso Labate On Christian Eriksen: “Inter Played Another 45 Minutes With 10 Men”

Italian journalist Tommaso Labate discussed Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen’s disappointing performance in the Nerazzurri’s bitter 2-1 loss to Bologna earlier today in a post on his Twitter page.

The 28-year-old Danish midfielder joined the Nerazzurri from Tottenham in a deal worth €20 million in the January transfer window, despite the fact that his contract with Spurs would have expired at the end of last month.

Eriksen has struggled to adapt to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system and failed to impress in his first few games of the season, before the Coronavirus stop.

Since the restart, Eriksen has been inconsistent, scoring one goal and providing two assists in his last five league games. Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte changed the Milanese side’s formation to a 3-4-1-2 to better accommodate the former Spurs midfielder, but the player’s performances haven’t proved consistent yet.

Labate discussed the 28-year-old Eriksen’s performance against the Rossoblu earlier, saying: “Another 45 minutes played with ten men. Eriksen did not appear, as if he was not there. I hope he proves me wrong in the next 45.”

Noted Agent Ivan Reggiani: “As Far As I Know Bayern’s David Alaba Is On His Way To Inter”

Agent Ivan Reggiani discussed the situation surrounding Inter target David Alaba and his future at Bayern Munich in an interview with Italian media outlet Calciomercato.it earlier today.

“As far as I know the player is on the way and I think Inter have already finalised something important, I think there is also a half deal signed between Inter and the player’s entourage and I think Inter can really count him in the next squad.”

Inter have been looking to sign a new left back in this summer’s transfer window, as coach Antonio Conte is looking for a strong starting left wing back.

The Nerazzurri signed Real Madrid talent Achraf Hakimi earlier this week in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons, showing their desire to invest heavily in the squad in order to get results.

Alaba, who is contracted to the Bavarian club until the end of next season and has been with the German side since 2010, has made 38 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3333 minutes. In that time, he has scored two goals and provided two assists.

A core part of the Bayern squad, Alaba is able to play as both a left wing back and a center back, giving Conte more depth in both roles.

Antonio Conte: “We All Have To Show That We Deserve To Be At Inter, From The Coach To The Players”

Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 2-1 loss to Bologna earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN broadcast moments ago.

“There is little to say, also because it is quite clear what happened. We all have to take responsibility. First me because I’m the coach and then the players who go out on the pitch.

“I think we gave the game away today, it’s not the first time, it happens and it’s happening a lot, it has happened throughout the season and it has happened after the restart. Certainly, there are situations and assessments that need to be made.”

The Lecce born coach touched on Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez’s missed penalty but didn’t blame the 22-year-old too much for his mistake.

“It’s hard for me to explain how you’re playing eleven against ten, you’re ahead, you have the chance to score a penalty and you don’t, but you always stay eleven against ten and with the game in full control.

“And then what happened happened. But I repeat, it’s not the first time. We have to ask ourselves questions, I ask myself questions and so the players have to as well.”

He commented on the fact that Inter have lost an incredible 18 points after being ahead, discussing whether it is a defensive issue or something else entirely.

“Since I’m the coach I’m the first person that is responsible, I try to get answers through my work. The only thing I can say is that from now until the end of the season each of us, and me first of all, must all show that we can stay at Inter.

“That goes for the coach and all the players. If there’s a winning project here and if there’s a desire to win again, we have to understand if the coach is the right coach in order to win and if the players are the right ones needed to win.

“From here to the end it will be a test for everyone, starting with me. We’ll have to try to give everything we have knowing that we’re all under question. That’s the way it should be.”

The 50-year-old Italian didn’t want to comment on who out of Lautaro Martinez or Romelu Lukaku is the designated penalty taker at the club.

“These are things I prefer to keep in the locker room, the details change the situation. Let’s lick our wounds, I hope that some poison will flow in the players, even if 1% of the poison that flows in my veins, because if that’s the case it would be a good starting point.”

Finally, Conte spoke about whether he still has hope in the remaining games of the season and the importance of qualifying for the Champions League.

“After giving away games like this, apart from this I’m also thinking about the points we lost against Sassuolo, it becomes difficult. You have to end the Champions League discussion as soon as possible and try to make as few mistakes as possible.

“I repeat, we’re all under scrutiny and we need to show that we can take part in a winning project, starting with the coach right down to the last person who works at Inter.”

Inter are currently 3rd in the league table after 30 games, sitting four points behind Lazio and 11 points behind first place and rivals Juventus, who are now the favourites to win the league title after the Biancocelesti’s disappointing 3-0 loss against Milan yesterday.

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Biasin: “Inter Good Until Soriano’s Sending Off, Paradoxical But True”

Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin discussed the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Bologna earlier today in a post on his Twitter page.

Inter were defeated by the Rossoblu after goals from Musa Juwara and Musa Barrow overturned Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku’s 22-minute opener.

Both teams finished the game with 10 men, with Bologna losing Roberto Soriano in the 57th minute, before Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni received a second yellow card in the 77th minutes. Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez missed a penalty early in the second half, a crucial mistake that cost the Milanese club dearly.

Inter are now 11 points behind league leaders and rivals Juventus, who are now the favourites for the league title after Lazio’s bitter 3-0 loss against Milan yesterday means that they are now seven points behind the Bianconeri. Next week’s game against Hellas Verona will be crucial as the Milanese club look to bounce back.

Biasin discussed the loss on Twitter, saying: “A good Inter until Soriano’s sending off. Paradoxical, but that’s how it is. And that means poor concentration and zero maturity. And without maturity, bothering those before you becomes impossible. (And in any case the penalty at 1-0 must be taken by the penalty taker).”

Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “We Will Go To Verona With An Open Wound That’s Not Easy To Heal”

Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Nerazzurri’s bitter 2-1 defeat to Bologna in the Serie A in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game, aired a short while ago.

First, he touched on how it leaves a bitter taste to lose a game where the Nerazzurri had a numerical advantage for a significant portion.

“I think there must be deep bitterness, disappointment in us. I have this state of mind and I hope the players have it too. Something unthinkable has happened that shouldn’t happen to a great team, there’s little to explain.

“It means that at the moment we’re not one, we have to work to become one. It’s right that we’re all under scrutiny, me first, because we have to show that we deserve Inter, that we can be part of a winning project if there’s the intention to do so.”

The former Chelsea and Juventus boss highlighted that the squad need to have a different mindset in order to change the Nerazzurri’s trophy drought.

“I am the first that’s need to show this, we have to do something different than these last 9-10 years.”

The 50-year-old Italian moved onto discussing what he will ask of the squad in the remaining games of the season.

“To get the most from match to match, there’s still a Champions League qualification to secure. I said that we had very little margin for error if we wanted to get involved in the title race, it means that I for one have not been good at maintaining concentration and reducing errors. Those of today are proof of that.”

Conte touched on the Nerazzurri’s next game against Hellas Verona on Thursday next week.

“We’re back on the pitch with an open wound, one that’s not easy to heal. I’m very bitter about this type of defeat and I hope that 1% of what I feel the players will feel as well, I’ll be happy with that.”

Finally, Conte highlighted what he wants the wing backs to do in his tactical system.

“The wing backs have to keep pushing and closing down the action on the other side.”

Inter’s disappointing defeat against Bologna means that the Nerazzurri are now 11 points behind league leaders and rivals Juventus, who are the favourites for the league title after Lazio’s tough 3-0 loss to Milan yesterday.

Inter Defender Stefan De Vrij: “We Didn’t Manage To Win Playing With 11 Men So We Lost With 10”

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij discussed the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Bologna in the Serie A in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN aired immediately after the game.

“They came back at us, when playing with eleven men we didn’t manage to win, then playing with ten we lost. I’m sorry, I think they had a chance towards the end in the first half where Handanovic saved us. We certainly have to do better in some ways.”

The 28-year-old Dutchman discussed whether there is a mentality problem within the squad.

“Obviously there’s still a long way to go. Too often when we go into the lead, we can’t close the game out and we’re in trouble. There’s still so much to improve.”

De Vrij, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, played the full 90 minutes against the Rossoblu earlier today. The 28-year-old Dutchman has made 35 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2983 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided four assists.

Inter’s failure to earn a single point against Bologna means that they are now 11 points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus, who are also seven points ahead of second place Lazio, making them the favourites for the league title. Inter’s next game is against Hellas Verona on Thursday next week, with a win being vital for Antonio Conte’s squad.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “I’m Angry With Myself, I’m The Coach & I’m Responsible”

Inter coach Antonio Conte spoke to gathered reporters at a press conference earlier today, after the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Bologna at the San Siro. His words were noted by Italian media outlet FcInter1908.

“The disappointment is enormous. It’s a lot. At least as far as I’m concerned. And I also hope that the disappointment I have, the players also have 1% of it. We managed to lose a game we should have won.”

The Lecce born coach discussed whether he was angry at the squad after such a disappointing result.

“I’m angry with myself. I’m the coach and I’m responsible for what happens on the pitch. I have my responsibilities because I direct the situation one way or another. It’s right to be angry with myself and the players with themselves.”

The former Juventus boss also discussed whether the team are emotionally fragile.

“Situations can only be assessed by facing them. It’s my first year working with Inter I had to take a pre-packaged package, so many situations that there were and that we are working on. It’s only fair to put all the topics into it.”

Conte touched on why he joined Inter and how important it is to win.

“I was called here for a winning project, to bring Inter back to win. There are some situations that leave a lot of bitterness because you think you are in a stadium and instead you find yourself in a much smaller stadium.”

The former Chelsea coach highlighted what mindset is needed by the squad to win these types of games.

“We have to feel like we’re being questioned. From here to there we have to prove that we deserve Inter. Me and the players. Everyone has to show that they want to rise above these years, otherwise it’s right to make other decisions later on.”

The 50-year-old Italian didn’t think that he made his substitutions too late into the game.

“It was a game in complete control. It wasn’t a game to be unbalanced. The moment Sanchez was coming in, Bologna tied. The game was dominated. I don’t understand why I’d have to make any upsets. We were able to lose.”

Finally, Conte touched on whether there was a penalty or not.

“I prefer to gloss over this situation. We could have done better in that episode too.”

Inter’s loss against Bologna means that they are now 11 points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus, who are the favourites for the league title considering Lazio’s 3-0 loss to Milan yesterday.
