CEO Beppe Marotta: “Inter Satisfied With Antonio Conte & Don’t Think We’ll Change Coach”

Ahead of Inter’s Serie A clash with Torino, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has addressed a number of topics, starting with the fact both Christian Eriksen and Milan Skriniar are starting from the bench.

“Eriksen and Skriniar rejected? Absolutely not, these are subjective evaluations made by the coach. We play every three days, it is normal to rotate given the conditions in which we play,” he explained prior to the match kicking off in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

Next he was asked how he wishes to deal with Inter’s immediate future.

“We are repeat offenders when it comes to conceding at the end, it is normal for there to be bitterness but we have to make a 360-degree evaluation.

“We need to look at the journey from September to today to understand things. Conte’s goal was to enhance resources and improve the situation. We are succeeding and we can only be satisfied.

“Perfection does not exist, there can always be improvements. Conte knows, the work so far has been excellent but we can improve by getting closer to Juventus.”

Next the former Juventus director was asked about Inter’s recent tendency to collapse during the second half of the season.

“This season has been an anomaly. We did not want it to resume but we had to. There have been fluctuating performances from all teams. The situation after COVID-19 break has brought us a new experience that needs to be calibrated and that presents new problems. We have lost points against provincial teams, this means we have to improve.

He was then asked whether Antonio Conte will be Inter boss next season amid reports he could leave or be sacked.

“I believe there will be no changes. The club is very satisfied. He is an ambitious coach, he wants to win and is having a new experience, but we mustn’t forget this is his first season here, whereas clubs ahead of us in the table have been working with the same tactician for several years.

“Ambition is natural and so is irritation and recrimination when errors are made to lose points.”

Next Marotta spoke on Marcelo Brozovic, who has been fined €100,000 after being caught drunk driving a few days ago.

“Let’s say it’s a disappointing situation to deal with. Aside from the fine, these lads must realise that their private life is also a matter of respect towards their teammates, the club and above all themselves. They should realise there are certain things they shouldn’t be doing, as rest is more important than ever.”

In conclusion he was asked if Inter shouldn’t look to harm themselves less given the important objectives the clubs has.

“I agree. The Inter badge is very important so pressure is natural, but it comes from the outside and can damage the confidence of those inside. We must find even more strength and belief in ourselves to resist that pressure.

“Unfortunately, we’ve had a lot of injuries in the midfield and it has forced squad rotation to be somewhat limited in those sectors. We play with the desire to do well.”

Gianluca Di Marzio: “Inter Coach Antonio Conte Is A Big Fan Of Torino’s Cristian Ansaldi

Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Inter manager Antonio Conte has an interest in signing Torino wing-back Cristian Ansaldi.

Ansaldi is the latest player Inter have been linked with ahead of the upcoming transfer window as far as wing-back is concerned with them also having been heavily linked to Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri too.

“Conte really likes Ansaldi but maybe Inter won’t sign him because they doesn’t need him but Conte likes him very much,” Di Marzio remarked in the Sky Sport Italia studios a short while before the match between Inter and Torino gets underway.

Ansaldi is no stranger to Inter having previously had a spell with the club between 2016 and 2017. In his single season on the club’s books, the 33-year-old Argentine made 26 appearances across all competitions in which he provided two assists.

Since joining Torino, he has went on to make 74 appearances across all competitions to date. He has scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in that time.

This season the former Zenit St. Petersburg player has scored five goals and tallied six assists in 25 appearances to date.

Inter Midfielder Roberto Gagliardini: “It’s Very Important That We Win Today”

Inter central midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has admitted that he and his teammates are hoping to get back to winning ways in tonight’s affair with Torino, which is due to kick off just shortly.

Inter head into this match at San Siro having failed to win either of their previous two Serie A matches and the Italian has revealed that preparations for the match have went well.

“It is very important today to bring home the three points after two negative results,” he began an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, a short time ago.

“We have prepared well and we know what we need to do. In these days it is important to stay at home and recover energy and then run as much as possible in the game.”

Moments later he spoke with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia and spoke on manager Antonio Conte.

“When he speaks the important thing is to understand what he wants from us. It is not an easy moment, we have to listen to him and demonstrate on the pitch that we have understood his requests.”

Gagliardini joined Inter on loan from Atalanta in January 2017 and was purchased outright at the end of that season. The 26-year-old, who has a contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, is set to make his 23rd appearance of the season tonight with him in the starting XI.

In his 22 appearances across all competitions to date so far, Gagliardini has scored three goals and provided a total of two assists for his teammates.

Inter To Rely On Lautaro Martinez To Achieve 2nd Place Finish In The Serie A

Inter will rely heavily upon Lautaro Martinez to help them achieve a second placed finish in Serie A according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

With a win in tonight’s match against Torino, Inter could go level on points with current second placed Lazio on 68 points.

Finishing in second compared to Inter’s current position of fourth is worth an extra €10.2 million. Finishing in fourth place is worth €16.7 million but a second placed finish is worth €26.9 million.

Lautaro has only scored one goal since the season got back underway but the report implies that the Nerazzurri club are going to continue showing faith in the 22-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a potential move to Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The Argentine national team player has scored 17 goals and provided five assists for his teammates in 38 appearances across all competitions to date.
