Matteo Marani: “Inter Not Doing Well Right Now, It’s Up To Eriksen To Become A Game Changer”

Italian football journalist Matteo Marani has called for Inter attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen to make more of an impact.

Eriksen arrived at Inter from Tottenham Hotspur in a circa €20 million deal in the most recent January transfer window but has never truly performed to his full potential so far at Inter.

Eriksen struggled in Inter manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system and although his performance levels increased upon the change to a 3-4-1-2 system, his performances in the past two matches have left a lot to be desired with many in the media suggesting he has taken a step back.

“At Inter there is no construction like there is at Juventus. Their principles are different. Inter play very choral and need to be physically healthy. The team is not doing well right now,” Marani explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

“I think Inter need some higher level players right now and Christian Eriksen has to make a difference. Adaption takes some time and in the first games after the break he gave us hope but then he had a decline. It’s up to him to become a game changer.”

Since his arrival at Inter, Danish national team player Eriksen has made 12 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park, which totals just over 600 minutes, the former Ajax player has scored two goals and provided two assists for his teammates.

German Media Claim Inter & Lazio Interested In Werder Bremen’s Milos Veljkovic

Inter and Lazio have both developed an interest in signing Werder Bremen defender Milos Veljkovic according to a report from the online edition of German news outlet BILD.

The 24-year-old Serbian national team centre back joined his current employers for just over €300,000 back in 2016 from Tottenham Hotspur and has impressed this term despite the fact Werder Bremen only just avoided automatic relegation and have a relegation play-off to face.

Whilst he feels good in Bremen at the moment, the report explains that Veljkovic has ambitions to play at the highest level and should he move to either Inter or Lazio he would get the chance to play in the Champions League.

Should Werder Bremen fail to win the relegation play-off and be relegated to 2. Bundesliga, Veljkovic could not be kept by the club and the report goes on to add that he could cost clubs in the region of €4-5 million.

Zinedine Zidane On Inter Bound Achraf Hakimi: “Still A Real Madrid Player But Anything Can Happen”

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has remained tight lipped when quizzed on Achraf Hakimi during his press conference ahead of Los Blancos’ match with Getafe tomorrow night.

Hakimi is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Inter after passing his medical and signing a contract with Inter yesterday but former French national team midfielder Zidane refused to give anything away when he spoke to the media.

“He is one of our players now, but anything can happen. He had a good season this year at Borussia Dortmund,” Zidane began the press conference which took place earlier on today.

“Things could change soon, but now my focus is on tomorrow’s game. I’m not saying I’m not interested in Achraf’s situation, but it’s an issue for the club to deal with.

“What did I say to Achraf? There is no answer. There is the club, there is the player and there is the coach. All three of these aspects are important when there are things that need to be decided.”

Inter and Real Madrid have agreed a deal worth €45 million including bonuses for the 21-year-old Moroccan national team full back and it is now only a matter of time until he is officially announced as an Inter player.

This past season whilst with Borussia Dortmund, Hakimi made 45 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park, he scored nine goals and provided 10 assists for his teammates at the German giants.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte Won’t Risk Marcelo Brozovic Against Brescia Tonight

Inter manager Antonio Conte will not risk midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in this evening’s Serie A match at home to Brescia according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was aired a short time ago.

The Croatian national team midfielder has been struggling with a calf injury as of late and although his condition has improved and Conte stated in his pre-match interview that he is nearing a recovery, he will not be risked.

Conte is also still to decide whether or not to rest attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen for the match against the relegation threatened La Rondinelle.

The report goes on to add that Alessandro Bastoni, Ashley Young and Victor Moses will all come back into the starting line-up having started this past weekend’s 2-1 win over Parma on the bench.

It also states that Romelu Lukaku could be rested and in the event that he is, Alexis Sanchez will come in in his place and form an attacking tandem with Lautaro Martinez.

French Media Claim Inter Have Made ‘A Very Big Offer’ For Napoli Target Victor Osimhen

Inter have made a very big offer for highly rated Lille forward Victor Osimhen according to a report from French news outlet Le10Sport.com.

The young Nigerian attacker had a superb season with the French outfit and as a result he has drawn links to a whole array of clubs and appears destined to depart in the coming months.

The report does not specify the details of the offer Inter have submitted but does state that Inter’s fellow Serie A side Napoli are also interested in signing Osimhen and as per the report they have made an offer of €105 million for both Osimhen and Gabriel but Osimhen must agree to a move.

Osimhen and his representatives are currently in Naples and it is understood that he is very interested in the Napoli project and the prospective playing time he will get in the south of Italy, something he may not necessarily be guaranteed elsewhere.

Inter & Juventus Linked Fiorentina Winger Federico Chiesa’s Future Still No Clearer

It is still unclear whether Federico Chiesa will depart Fiorentina for a new club or will stay with them and sign a contract extension according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The highly rated Italian national team winger has been heavily linked with moves away from La Viola to the likes of Inter and Juventus for a long long time whilst contract talks between Chiesa, his representatives and the club have also been ongoing for some time.

Chiesa is under contract with the Florence based club until the end of the 2021/22 season and reports elsewhere in the media have stated that Fiorentina value him in the region of €70 million.

Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso has admitted that should Chiesa ask to leave and an offer which meets their evaluation comes in then Fiorentina will not stand in the way of the 22-year-old.

Massimo Drago: “Inter Midfielder Sensi’s Physique Leads Him To Suffer Too Many Injuries”

Stefano Sensi’s former manager Massimo Drago has shared his belief that his physique makes him more susceptible to picking up injuries.

The Inter and Italian national team player joined Inter on a season long loan with option to buy from Sassuolo this past Summer and has spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines.

Sensi made a stellar start to life in Nerazzurri but having sustained an injury in the Derby D’Italia loss to Juventus at San Siro back in October, he has struggled to remain fit and has picked up a number of injuries in the time since.

“His slim physique leads him to suffer too many injuries,” Drago remarked as part of an interview with Italian radio station Radio Musica Television show ‘Taca La Marca’ earlier on today.

Sensi has made 18 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided four assists for his teammates.

Drago, who last managed Reggina, then went on to discuss the differences between Luciano Spalletti’s Inter and Antonio Conte’s Inter.

“They have two different football philosophies, Conte works a lot on the physical and psychological aspect and creates a great synergy with his boys.

“In the results this year Inter have shown that they can have their say although they have suffered too many injuries, including Sensi, who is a player who could have made an even greater contribution. Spalletti did a great job anyway.”

Ex-Inter Midfielder Lamouchi: “Convinced Antonio Conte Will Find Right Solution For Christian Eriksen”

Former Inter midfielder Sabri Lamouchi has shared his belief that Christian Eriksen will be able to show the best version of himself at Inter.

Eriksen joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal from Tottenham Hotspur in the most recent January transfer window and initially failed to make an impact.

Since the football season resumed, Eriksen’s performances have improved with him having been able to play in his natural role of attacking midfielder with thanks to Inter manager Antonio Conte changing from a 3-5-2 to 3-4-1-2 system.

“His quality is not up for discussion, he is an important player. I remember in 1996 when Zidane joined Juventus and had many difficulties, after 6 months he showed all his value,” Lamouchi explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Musica Television show ‘Taca La Marca’ earlier on today.

“I am convinced that Conte will find the right solution and that Eriksen will be able to express himself in the best way. The Dane still needs to adapt, given the significant differences between Serie A and Premier League.”

The former France national team player, who spent two years with Inter between 2003 and 2005, then spoke on the imminent arrival of Achraf Hakimi at Inter from Real Madrid.

Inter and Real Madrid have agreed a €45 million including add-ons deal for the Moroccan, who underwent and passed his medical with the club yesterday and he also signed his contract. All that remains is for the transfer to be officially announced.

“Hakimi is a great signing. He is the ideal player for Conte’s system.”

He then spoke on Sandro Tonali, who has been heavily linked with a move to Inter.

“Tonali is very promising, he has a bright future, if Inter are looking at him, this means that there is a long-term project.”
