Inter Captain Samir Handanovic Set To Extend Contract With Club To End Of June 2022

Samir Handanovic’s agent Fali Ramadani is set to arrive in Milan to formalise his client’s contract extension with Inter according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The Inter captain agreed terms over a new deal back in February and as per the report he will sign a one year extension until the end of the 2021/22 season and will earn €3.5 million a year from the new contract.

Official confirmation of the contract extension could arrive in the coming days.

The decision to extend the veteran shot-stopper’s deal with the club comes due to Inter management being greatly satisfied with Handanovic’s qualities both on and off of the pitch.

Handanovic is a key figure in the dressing room and is also highly appreciated by Inter manager Antonio Conte, who has been able to see his importance in the dressing room throughout the season.

The Slovenian, who has been with Inter since 2012, has made 34 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has kept eight clean sheets.

Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni: “Our Character Showed & That’s What We Need Right Now”

Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni has shared his belief that the character shown in last night’s win over Parma is exactly what Inter need during this time.

Inter fell behind early doors through a Gervinho goal and probably should have found themselves further behind but somehow managed to keep the scoreline down.

Stefan de Vrij headed in an equaliser for Inter and moments later Bastoni nodded home to put Inter 2-1 up with just minutes to spare. Inter managed to see out the remainder of the game and secured themselves an all important three points.

“I managed to enjoy this goal more than the one I scored against Lecce,” Bastoni, who has had a first team breakthrough at Inter this term, remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

“We knew that we were coming up against a difficult team who had the characteristics to hurt us. It was a strange game where we fell behind but our character showed and I think that’s what we need right now.”

The Italian youth national team defender proceeded to speak on Inter’s high intensity style of play.

“The game we play takes a lot of energy but it is a philosophy that we have undertaken with the coach and we carry it out. We know there are risks but we are ready for them, we are physically well and we have worked hard. Whoever is physically better will prevail.”

This season the 21-year-old has made 21 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park, which totals just over 1600 minutes, he has scored two goals.

Achraf Hakimi’s Imminent Arrival From Real Madrisd Won’t Impact Inter’s Pursuit Of Sandro Tonali

The imminent arrival of Achraf Hakimi at Inter will not impact their pursuit of Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Inter are set to welcome Hakimi from Real Madrid having agreed a deal worth a total of €45 million including add-ons and whilst Hakimi’s arrival means Victor Moses will not be bought outright and Federico Chiesa will not arrive, it will not affect Inter’s move for Tonali.

Inter have already agreed personal terms with the highly rated Italian national team midfielder and have been in talks with Brescia president and owner Massimo Cellino over him for some time but they are yet to reach an agreement.

Inter want to pay somewhere in the region of €30-35 million for Tonali, who is widely regarded as one of the best Italian prospects out there at the moment.

The report also explains that Inter are yet to give up in their pursuit of Marash Kumbulla, who has been heavily linked with a move to Lazio as of late.

Antonio Conte Wants Roma’s Edin Dzeko To Complete His Dream Attacking Trio At Inter

Inter manager Antonio Conte will not hesitate to ask club management to sign Roma captain Edin Dzeko according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Conte wants Dzeko to complete his dream attacking trio which would consist of the Bosnian national team player plus Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Inter’s move for Dzeko could be helped along if the Giallorossi club are to miss out on Champions League qualification but the report does warn that Dzeko has a strong connection to Roma and feels fully involved in the Italian capital city club’s project.

The Nerazzurri had shown an interest in signing the former Manchester City player this past Summer but they took their time when it came to their pursuit and this ultimately cost them as he agreed to sign a contract extension.

This season the 34-year-old has made 34 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 17 goals and provided nine assists.

Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi To Undergo Inter Medical & Sign Contract Tomorrow

Achraf Hakimi will be in Milan tomorrow to undergo a medical with Inter and also sign his contract with the Nerazzurri club according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Hakimi looks set to become Inter’s first addition to the team ahead of the upcoming season and will be arriving at the club as one of the highest rated young wing backs in the game at the moment.

Achraf Hakimi’s Imminent Arrival From Real Madrid Means Inter Wont Sign Federico Chiesa

The imminent arrival of Achraf Hakimi at Inter will impact other moves Inter will make according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Moroccan national team full back is set to arrive at Inter after a €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons deal was struck with Real Madrid and personal terms have also been agreed too between Inter and the player.

Hakimi’s arrival as good as rules out any chance of Inter signing on loan Victor Moses on a permanent basis and the report claims that Hakimi’s arrival also means the chances of Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa arriving at the club are fading.

Inter have a long standing interest in Chiesa but the €70 million asking price has always been an obstacle and Inter are satisfied that they have managed to find a top player for the right hand side for about €30 million less in Hakimi.

This season Hakimi has made 45 appearances, in which he has scored nine goals and provided 10 assists for his teammates.

Will Inter Signing Premier League Players Help Them Win The Serie A Next Season?

As this season’s Serie A title race goes down to the wire, an increase in sports gambling in NJ has been witnessed with punters trying to predict who will win the coveted Scudetto. It’s a race being run by Juventus and one other.

Many felt at the start of the season that the other entity would be Inter. With former Juventus boss Antonio Conte not only taking the San Siro reigns but also knowing how to win a Serie A title as manager of the Turin outfit, a championship charge looked firmly on the horizon.

However, for Inter instead read Lazio and with the Blue and Black half of Milan being overtaken by a rather unfancied outfit from the capital, Conte and his cabal of superstars have now been superseded as Juventus’ nearest challengers.

Although Serie A has joined so many other leagues in a period of enforced hibernation, it was the two outings before the break that have dented Inter’s season. On reflection, it does seem as if back to back defeats has proved to be the pivotal moment of their campaign.

If a 2-1 defeat away to Lazio in February put a dent in Inter’s title hopes, the 2-0 loss to table-toppers Juventus that followed, has seemingly proved to be the hammer blow and dreams of a first league crown since 2009/10 would be delayed by at least another season.

Had Conte’s men picked up wins in both, it would have created a favorable points swing and one that would have seen the Nerazzurri primed and ready to pounce on a wounded Juventus side, who would subsequently be within touching distance.

Unfortunately, the what-ifs are nothing more than conjecture. With still more than a quarter of the season to go, although there are still enough games to mount a challenge mathematically speaking, the objective has shifted to securing a return to the Champions League next season.

Therefore, if Inter has not managed to bloody the nose of Juventus this time around, questions remain as to what they can do differently, and although their transfer policy has been viewed as somewhat shrewd, is it enough to make a difference?

With the former Chelsea manager looking back to the Premier League for personnel inspiration, Conte has seemingly turned the San Siro into a home for unloved and broken toys, offering the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez an opportunity for redemption.

The former Manchester United strike partnership has had varying levels of success, with the former becoming Inter’s top scorer. The latter has been hampered by injury, and questions remain regarding an extension to his current loan deal.

In addition to the United attack line getting the band back together in Italy, they’ve also been joined by fellow former Red Devil Ashley Young, ex-Tottenham midfield star Christian Eriksen, and Victor Moses, who previously worked with Conte at Chelsea.

This collection of players, a group that has plied their trade within England’s top tier, obviously comes with a lot of talent. Still, apart from Sanchez, who previously played for Udinese, the other four do not have any prior exposure to Italian football.

The argument that could be made is one that suggests this unit of players has enough talent to make a relatively quick transition to a different environment. However, the reality is somewhat different, and the English (league) invasion has not necessarily been an overwhelming success.

Which provides a rather pertinent question when the transfer window reopens. Should Inter double down on their new recruitment pipeline, or do they cast their net slightly wider and look away from Premier League castaways?

The answer arguably depends on whether Lautaro Martinez moves on this summer and links up with compatriot Lionel Messi at Barcelona. Should that be the case, Inter’s bank balance will have swelled considerably.

With the Argentine’s departure already highly anticipated, a look to potential replacements has begun in earnest. With Alexandre Lacazette being linked with a move from Arsenal, it seems as if the Premier League could once again provide fertile transfer ground.

While the capture of the French forward would be quite a coup, it would mean replacing a younger generational talent with one who is just entering the wrong side of his peak, and again it is a signing that could be viewed as short-term.

Then again, Antonio Conte has been installed to win Italian football’s biggest prize. After missing the objective already, he will not necessarily be given time to cultivate a team over several years in pursuit of the title. The time to win is now, and it may just need the Premier League to do it.

Inter Have Not Giving Up On Trying To Sign Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla

Inter have not given up in their pursuit to sign Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

Lazio are in the lead to sign the Albanian national team centre back but Inter remain interested as they look to bolter their defensive department.

Kumbulla is a player who Inter have been scouting for a long time and is a player who they like a lot. Due to the lack of an agreement between Lazio and Hellas Verona over Kumbulla, Inter are still in the running to sign him.

In the coming days Inter could do something for Kumbulla, who Hellas Verona continue to demand €27 million plus €8 million in add-ons for. It will therefore not be easy for Inter to snatch Kumbulla from the competition.

This season the 20-year-old has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored one goal.

Italian Media Praises Inter Trio Bastoni, Sanchez & Moses For Performances Against Parma

Alessandro Bastoni, Alexis Sanchez and Victor Moses were Inter’s joint best performers in last night’s 2-1 smash and grab win away to Parma according to the player ratings published in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Bastoni scored the winner for Inter moments after Stefan de Vrij equalised for the Nerazzurri whilst Sanchez and Moses both made positive impacts off the bench with the latter of the two providing the assist for Bastoni’s goal.

All three players have been handed 7/10 ratings.

de Vrij, Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella were Inter’s next best performers with them receiving 6.5/10 ratings. Club captain Samir Handanovic, Ashley Young, Romelu Lukaku were all meanwhile given 6/10 ratings for their efforts at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Danilo D’Ambrosio and Antonio Candreva, who greatly struggled to contain Gervinho during the match have been given 5.5/10 ratings as were Roberto Gagliardini and Cristiano Biraghi whilst the worst performances, at least in the eyes of the Rome based news outlet, came from Diego Godin and Christian Eriksen, both of whom got 5/10 ratings.
