Ex-Bayern Fullback Rafinha: “I Received An Offer From Inter But I’d Already Made A Promise To Flamengo”

Former Bayern Munich full back Rafinha discussed his decision to return to his native country to join Flamengo and how Inter made an offer for him last year in an interview with Brazilian media outlet Fox Sports earlier today, as reported by FcInterNews.

“If I had thought about money, I would have stayed in Europe. I had received offers from Inter, Spain and Russia. Then I had the opportunity to renew with Bayern and PSG contacted me after Dani Alves’ farewell. But I had already given my word to Flamengo.”

The 34-year-old revealed that it was important for him to return to his native country to play in front of his home fans. He went on to win the league title and Copa Libertadores with Flamengo last year.

“I had the desire to play in Brazil, to feel the warmth of the fans, but it was a bet. I chose to honour my word, but it was a difficult situation. What I lived in Flamengo cannot be bought with money. I won many titles and wrote my name in the history of the club.”

Rafinha spent eight years of his career with Bayern Munich, from 2011 to 2019. The 34-year-old Brazilian full back made 266 appearances for the Bavarian club across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing 29 assists in that time.

He won many major honors with the German giants, including seven league titles, four domestic cups and a Champions League, amongst others. Rafinha also spent a single season of his career in Italy with Genoa, where he scored two goals in 34 league appearances.

German Media Report Bayern Munich Loanee Ivan Perisic Could Return To Inter At The End Of Season

Ivan Perisic may return to Inter from Bayern Munich at the end of the season, according to a report from German media outlet Sport Bild.

The report details how the 31-year-old Croatian forward has spent this season on loan at the German champions, being a consistent part of coach Hansi Flick’s squad.

The option to sign him permanently wasn’t activated in May by the Bavarian club, and they asked Inter for more time to think about a possible deal. Currently, there is no agreement between the two clubs regarding a price for Perisic and optimism isn’t high.

Perisic’s salary is also a cause for concern, the report continues. The 2018 FIFA World Cup runner up receives around €10-11 million gross a season, a figure far too high for the Bavarian club considering the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the financial climate.

The Croatian will be available to Bayern in the Champions League and so could still impress enough to facilitate a deal.

Ex-Inter Midfielder Kharja: “Piero Ausilio Has Been Following Hakimi For Years & Asked Me About Him”

Former Inter midfielder Houssine Kharja discussed Real Madrid right back Achraf Hakimi and his time with the Nerazzurri in an interview with Italian media outlet GianlucaDiMarzio.com earlier today.

“Ausilio saw Hakimi long ago. He’s been following him for a long time. Two and a half years ago, when he was still at Real Madrid and not playing, he started to ask me about him several times.”

The 37-year-old Moroccan, who retired in 2016, discussed how Hakimi will be able to grow at Inter and how coach Antonio Conte’s system would be perfect for the 21-year-old.

“Inter is a point of arrival, and Antonio’s system will be perfect for him. He is very strong, in all my years of the national team I have never seen anyone like him. He’s very intelligent, he’ll know how to adapt to Italian football. He’ll have to work hard in the defensive phase, maybe at the beginning he’ll struggle, but he’ll definitely be helped.”

He touched on how Maicon also struggled initially to adapt but quickly became an important player for the Nerazzurri.

“After all, Maicon had some difficulties too, then he won the Treble. Hakimi is smart and will improve. He’s not afraid of anything, like me. He played for Madrid and Dortmund, also winning a Champions League. The San Siro will only be able to energize him.”

Kharja returned to his time with the Nerazzurri. The player spent six months on loan with Inter from Genoa in the 2010/11 season, but wasn’t signed permanently at the end of the season.

“I could have gone to Inter already with Mourinho, but due to knee problems, the negotiations were cancelled. Despite everything, a year later, in January 2011, Branca and Leonardo bought me. That Inter was a fantastic team, they had just won everything and I felt good right away, it was full of champions who made me feel at ease. When there are players like that it gets easier.”

Finally, Kharja touched on his disappointment that he wasn’t signed permanently by the Milanese club in the summer of 2011.

“Unfortunately, that’s how it was, I could have followed Leonardo to PSG, but in the end, nothing came of it. Leonardo is a great coach, he knew everyone, even me. Before I arrived, he knew everything about the role, the way to be on the pitch. It’s a shame he didn’t continue his career as a coach, but he will also be a talented executive.”

Kharja made 19 appearances for Inter in his six months with the club, for a total of 1056 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal and provided five assists.

Man Utd Manager Solskjaer On Inter Loanee Alexis Sanchez: “We’ll Make A Decision At End Of The Season”

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer discussed the future of Inter forward Alexis Sanchez in an interview with English media outlet Manchester Evening News earlier today.

“Alexis has had some injury problems again. Inter are thinking about their future and we are thinking about ours. We will make a decision after the end of this season and I think it is important that Inter focus on finishing the season where they are and that we can continue what we do.”

Inter have been in talks with the Red Devils to discuss a two-month contract extension for Sanchez, whose current dry loan deal would expire in two days’ time.

Coach Antonio Conte is a big fan of the former Arsenal forward and is even considering making a deal to keep him for another season as well, with the player looking to compete with Lautaro Martinez for a starting spot.

Sanchez has made 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 684 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided four assists, struggling to make a strong impact for the Nerazzurri. The player suffered a peroneus tendon injury whilst on international duty, which forced him to miss 14 games.
