Nicolo Barella Fully Recovered Ahead Of Inter’s Serie A Clash With Parma This Weekend

Inter central midfielder Nicolo Barella has completely recovered ahead of this weekend’s Serie A match away to Parma according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

The Italian national team midfielder was an unused substitute in Inter’s 3-3 draw with Sassuolo during midweek and the reason behind this was because he was suffering from slight fatigue.

Barella’s return will come as a huge boost to Inter who certainly missed his engine in the middle of the park on Wednesday night at San Siro against the Neroverdi.

The 23-year-old joined Inter this past Summer from fellow Serie A side Cagliari and has been an absolutely pivotal player for Inter this term.

Barella, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, he has scored three goals and provided six assists for his teammates.

Derby Della Madonnina – AC Milan Vs Inter: What Does the Milan Derby Mean?

One of the most prominent landmarks in the Italian city of Milan is the statue of the Virgin Mary atop Milan Cathedral, known as Madonnina (Little Madonna).

This is also the affectionate name given to the football match between Inter Milan and AC Milan, the bitter rivals who have been contesting the ‘Derby della Madonnina’ since the inaugural meeting in 1909.

Both sides have a massive fanbase, who are among the most passionate followers of their respective clubs anywhere in the world. But what exactly does it mean to be a fan of either side? And how on earth do you cope if you happen to fall for someone who supports the enemy?

Separated By Class

Internazionale, to give them their full title, were traditionally seen as the club supported by the more prosperous Milanese, while the city’s blue-collar workers followed AC (Associazione Calcio) Milan, often shortened to Milan. Of course, these distinctions have blurred over time, but the rivalry between them has never waned.

What makes the Milan derby especially potent is the fact both teams play their home games in Italy’s largest stadium, the San Siro. When they lock horns, up to 80,000 spectators create a cauldron of atmosphere.

Who Wins The Derbies Overall?

Milan are a hugely successful side, having spent virtually their entire history, (bar two seasons in the early 80s) in Italy’s top tier, now known as Seria A. Having won 18 FIFA and UEFA trophies, they are by far the highest-achieving Italian club. For all that they might once have been seen as a club with overtly working-class roots, they are also one of the richest in the world.

Internazionale also have a formidable record, winning 18 league titles, including a record-breaking run of five successive championships from 2006-2010. They are also the team with the most supporters in Italy, although Milan have the highest support from anywhere outside the country.

The greatest victory in a derby was a resounding 6-0 thumping of Inter by AC Milan in Seria A in 2001, while the overall record for the 225 official matches between the sides is 76 wins for Milan, 82 for Internazionale and 67 clashes ending in draws.

Milan were certainly a dominant force in European football, regularly appearing in finals, but they have undergone something of a slump in recent years which has taken an edge off the derby – although few are likely to have noticed any diminishing in the fervor of the atmosphere at these meetings.

Crossing The Divide

The Derby della Madonnina is always a colorful affair, with the seething crowds segregated into legions sporting Milan’s black and red, and Internazionale’s black and blue. But what happens if you’ve met someone you like, only to discover they follow the other side?

It’s not difficult to picture this scenario. You’re a die-hard Inter fan. You meet someone on a dating site like this. You hit it off, and message each other constantly, building a strong sense of chemistry. But when you happen to be browsing through their profile photos you see, to your utter horror, a selfie of your prospective partner wearing a red and black striped shirt.

This is where you need to take a step back and think logically. Football games last for 90 minutes. Rivalries can certainly create a febrile atmosphere during this hour and a half.

But with the final whistle, most fans, no matter how passionate, will return to the real world, socializing with friends and family who follow ‘the other side,’ and embracing a love interest, regardless of the colors of the scarf they’ve just hung in the wardrobe.

Injured Marcelo Brozovic Remains Doubtful Ahead Of Inter’s Serie A Clash With Parma

Marcelo Brozovic remains a doubt for Inter ahead of this weekend’s Serie A match away to Parma according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

The Croatian national team midfielder has missed each of Inter’s last two games as a result of a leg injury and is at risk of missing out on this weekend’s game too.

The player is not yet at his best and despite this, the report goes on to state that it cannot be excluded that he may be rushed back into action given Inter’s current struggles and lack of midfield options.

Sky Sport Italia also state that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, sporting director Piero Ausilio and vice president Javier Zanetti watched over training today and met with Inter manager Antonio Conte.

The quartet came to an agreement that they must turn the page and forget about the result against Sassuolo and pick up three points against Parma.

Spanish Media Report Barcelona Open To Selling Inter Linked Arturo Vidal – Want To Trim Wage Bill

Barcelona are open to the idea of selling midfielder Arturo Vidal according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Sport.

The Blaugrana club are keen to trim their wage bill and reduce the average age of the squad and Vidal, as well as Ivan Rakitic, could both be moved on to help them achieve that.

Both the Chilean and Croatian national team players have contracts with the Spanish giants through to the end of next season and it remains to be seen where there futures may lie.

Vidal has been linked with a potential move to Inter, where he could be reunited with former manager Antonio Conte, who he worked with at Juventus. Inter manager Conte is reportedly very keen to be reunited with Vidal.

Rakitic meanwhile likes the idea of a return to former club Sevilla despite the obvious financial complications related to a move back to the Andalusian outfit.

Inter Linked Gaetano Castrovilli: “Interest In Me Is Pleasing But I’m Attached To Florence”

Fiorentina central midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli has admitted that whilst the reported interested in his services makes him happy, he remains very much attached to La Viola.

Ahead of the upcoming transfer window the Italian national team player, who has been one of the biggest revelations in Serie A this term, has been linked with the likes of Inter and Juventus among other clubs.

“The admiration is pleasing but I’m very attached to Florence. I’m fine here and I have everyone’s trust,” he explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport, which appeared in today’s print edition.

He was then asked about teammate Federico Chiesa and his future with the Florence based club amid ongoing speculation in the media.

“If me and Chiesa will continue together? These are decisions that affect the club and Federico. All I can say is that Chiesa is a great footballer and it would be nice to continue our growth together.”

Castrovilli also shared his thoughts on the Serie A title race.

“I believe there’s a lot left to play for. There are still 11 games to go and there several direct meetings on the agenda.

“In my opinion, nothing has been decided. Over the years, Lazio have strengthened a squad that was already very competitive and this season they are reaping the benefits of their work.

“I’m sure they will fight until the end with Juventus and Inter.”

This season the 23-year-old has made 27 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just shy of 2300 minutes, he has scored three goals and has also provided two assists for his teammates.

Italian Media Claim Inter’s Poor Form Illustrates Why Antonio Conte Wanted Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal

What has happened this season to Inter is evidence as to why Inter manager Antonio Conte so badly wanted Arturo Vidal signed according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

When Conte arrived at the club there was great hope that he could put an end to the recent trend of Inter slumping between December and February which has derailed them in several of the last few seasons.

However the former Italian national team boss failed to stop the trend from continuing and the report claims that Conte wanted Vidal due to his experience of winning titles in various countries and this could have helped others to grow.

Ahead of the upcoming transfer window, Inter have drawn links to Vidal again and the report from the Turin based news outlet explains that Inter do not want to acquire the Chilean as part of a deal that would send Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta wants to do a deal for Vidal, whose contract expires at the end of next season, on his terms.
