Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “We’re Paying A Heavy Price For Not Killing Games Off”

Following interviews with media outlets, Inter manager Antonio Conte spoke to the gathered media in a press conference at San Siro following Inter’s crazy 3-3 draw at home to Sassuolo.

Inter found themselves behind just a few minutes after the game began but managed to get to the half time interval 2-1 ahead.

Rather than kill the game off, Sassuolo ended up drawing level with 10 minutes left to go. Inter scored soon after via Borja Valero and looked set to pick up the three points but moments later Sassuolo equalised again and ensured the points were shared.

“I think we deserved much more considering how much we created, I don’t recall any Samir Handanovic saves,” he began the press conference.

He was then asked about Inter’s inability to kill the game off despite having more than enough chances through the game to have won comfortably.

“It’s something we keep repeating and are paying a heavy price for it. I am very disappointed and so are the lads. When you play this type of game and put so much into it, you have the chance to win despite the difficulties in the key area of midfield, you have to take home the three points. We didn’t do that, it’s disappointing and troubling.”

He was then asked about what can be done in order for this to stop happening in the future, at least as regularly as it has been as of late.

“There are situations where we need to score goals and we are paying for these naïve errors. We had the chances to finish it and we didn’t. I don’t know what more we can do other than keep working.”

He concluded by being asked whether or not the heat played a factor in things panning out how they did and gave an overall opinion on his team’s performance.

“Today [yesterday] was very hot but it depends on the characteristics of those who are on the pitch. I am happy with the performance, we’ve got to be more careful when it comes to the details. That is where we can grow and improve.”

Italian Journalist Biasin: “Inter’s Gagliardini & Young Made Mistakes, Conte Made Many Mistakes”

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Biasin has taken to social media platform Twitter to slam the Inter team and Inter manager Antonio Conte following the 3-3 draw with Sassuolo on Sunday night at San Siro.

Inter fell behind early doors but managed to recover and head into the half time interval 2-1 up. Inter had no shortage of chances to extend their lead but failed to do so before Sassuolo equalised.

Inter scored again and looked to have secured a win but moments later a lapse of concentration allowed Sassuolo to tie things up again.

Biasin posted: “Gagliardini was wrong, Young was wrong, everyone was wrong. Conte made a lot of mistakes. If you “want to give them a run for the Scudetto,” and the least awful player was Borja Valero, your problems are evident.”

Italian Journalist Fabio Ravezzani: “Inter Threw It Away, Gagliardini & Young’s Mistakes Inconceivable”

Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia director Fabio Ravezzani has taken to social media platform Twitter to blast Inter duo Roberto Gagliardini and Ashley Young for their mistakes in Inter’s 3-3 draw with Sassuolo.

Gagliardini had a forgettable performance against the Neroverdi side and missed an open goal from just a couple of yards out.

Young meanwhile came on as a substitute and had a horrific time on the field with him giving away one penalty and being extremely lucky to not give away another whilst also not performing to the level people have come to expect from him.

He posted: “Inter threw it away. The errors of Gagliardini and Young are inconceivable. Even Conte eventually loses control of the team a bit. Penalty for the Nerazzurri, anomalous but fair. Var is incomprehensible and does not ask at least to review Young’s hand.”

Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “There Is A Lot Of Bitterness, Lucien Agoume Has Good Skills”

Inter manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he and the team must pay more attention to detail following on from a frustrating 3-3 draw at home to Sassuolo tonight.

Inter fell behind after just a few minutes and pulled one back from the penalty spot five minutes before half time via Romelu Lukaku, who netted his 25th goal across all competitions this term.

Cristiano Biraghi soon followed with a goal of his own and Inter went into the half time interval leading 2-1. Despite plenty chances to put the game out of sight, it was Sassuolo who scored next with 10 minutes left.

Inter scored with five minutes to go and looked set to go on to win but moments later conceded and had to settle for a draw.

“We are work on getting the teams in the right frame of mind, both on the field and mentally. Ours must be a complete job, not only on a technical-tactical level, but by raising attention, concentration, hunger and anger,” Conte explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match.

“The guys want to improve and they want to be careful, however, there are games like tonight where there is a lot of bitterness. Many times the work we do is not compensated by the result.”

Next he spoke on Sassuolo’s performance at San Siro.

“We are talking about a team that has a certain idea about how football should be played and excellent attacking players.

“People like Boga, Caputo, Berardi, Djuricic and Defrel are very good at attacking spaces and hurting you. It was a difficult match against a very good team but we had laid the foundations to win and we had to do it. There must be disappointment in our hearts.”

Conte then went on to praise youngster Lucien Agoume, who came on as a substitute during the second half.

“Lucien is a good boy, he has good skills. It is not easy to come in and do what he did. I am happy with his performance, he must continue to work and grow. He has a good base and teammates to learn from.”

In conclusion Conte added: “Beyond the standings, our idea is to always think to the maximum. We have to think about winning all the matches, although it may not happen for many reasons.

“The mentality must be to try to do the maximum, something extraordinary. We must be careful and pay more attention to detail, perhaps not conceding three goals.”

Inter Wingback Cristiano Biraghi: “We Have To Turn The Page Right Away Against Parma”

Inter wing back Cristiano Biraghi has admitted to being happy with the goal he scored despite the fact Inter failed to pick up all three points against Sassuolo.

The Italian defender netted Inter’s second goal shortly before the half time interval and his well taken goal gave Inter a 2-1 lead. A further three goals were scored in the second half which led to the points being shared between the two sides.

“I was happy beyond the goal because we had resumed a game that had started with some difficulties. We wanted the three points and my goal had taken us ahead. Unfortunately it went how it did,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official broadcaster Inter TV following the match which took place at San Siro earlier on this evening.

He then went on to insist that the team must move on immediately from this result and set their focus on the next match, which comes this weekend against Parma.

“When you are Inter, you are a great team and you have to turn the page right away. The Parma match is an opportunity to get back on track. We have to think like a great team. Our thought is to win.

“Since when we started again after the Covid we have had more chances than the opponents, and one problem this is not to close the games. It happened in Naples and also today.”

He concluded the interview by adding: “It is a pity not to be able to win these games where we give everything to win and see the 3 points fade away because of our mistakes. It is one of the steps to take if we want to aim high.”

Biraghi has made 27 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored two goals and provided four assists for his teammates.
