Inter Midfielder Lucien Agoume: “Happy To Have Come On But Pity For The Result”

Inter youngster Lucien Agoume has admitted to being delighted at having come on during Inter’s match with Sassuolo despite the fact the team were able to secure all three points.

The French youth national team midfielder, who has been likened to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, came on off of the substitutes bench during the second half at San Siro and gave a good account of himself in his time on the pitch.

“I am happy to have come on today even if the result is a pity. We had many opportunities, we had to win,” the youngster, who joined Inter this past Summer, explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, following the match.

He then went on to admit that he is always looking to learn and revealed what his teammates were telling him whilst he was on the field during the match.

“I always try to work to be available to the coach when he needs me and I hope to continue like this. I try to learn from everyone, in my role there they are many strong players, I want to learn the best to improve more and more.

“Everyone told me to be calm, to play as I can do without haste. I tried to do it when I entered.”

Tonight’s appearance was the 18-year-old’s second first team appearance of the campaign and with fixtures coming thick and fast Agoume is highly likely to see more playing time between now and the end of the season.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “We Had Chances To Kill The Game Off, I’m Sorry”

Following Inter’s crazy 3-3 draw with Sassuolo, Inter manager Antonio Conte has admitted there is a feeling of regret for not having won the match.

Inter fell behind early doors but managed to reach the half time interval 2-1 up. Inter had plenty chances to kill the game off but it was Sassuolo who scored next and brought things level. Inter then scored what looked to be a winner a few minutes from the end but Sassuolo equalised moments later.

“It is certainly a draw that hurts us also because today we had several chances to kill the game off,” he began an interview with sports broadcaster DAZN at San Siro after the full time whistle.

“We did not do it, we managed to score four minutes from the end and then we conceded. It is normal that there is regret. We have to be careful in the defensive phase. If we see the goals there are small and big errors, even individual ones. There is regret and we take note of what happened.”

He was then asked about Roberto Gagliardini’s open goal miss and what he said to the Italian midfielder in the dressing room after the game.

“After the game I hardly speak, certainly there is disappointment from everyone because the effort was enormous. Especially in midfield there were numerous defections but despite this we could have brought the game home.

“I am sorry, but at the same time we created a lot and failed to capitalise. Today we also conceded three goals, we must be more careful.”

Next Conte was asked whether he and the team have already been able to analyse the small details which made the difference.

“The small details make the difference, it’s something I repeat endlessly. The small details can change a result and unfortunately we have paid the consequences today. It was the same in Naples. I am sorry.

“The only thing I can do is keep working to raise this group, increase the level and make sure that these details do not ruin the group. We will work from here until the end of the season.”

He was then asked whether he thinks the team lack a certain kind of malice about them.

“I think the boys had the strength, also because Sassuolo did not show up many times face to face with the goalkeeper.

“I saw the numbers and despite the initial difficulties we managed to keep up and create a lot of chances. I remember Handanovic’s special saves and we scored three goals.

“Instead, I think Consigli made a lot of saves, sometimes he was good, sometimes we were less lucid, otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about a draw.

“We have to look and try to understand why we lost points in a foolish way. You score four minutes from the end and then you end the draw, the same happened in Florence. There is work needed to be done to raise the level and make these kids grow.”

In conclusion the former Italian national team manager was asked about where the team can realistically go.

“Where we can go and what can sincerely happen I don’t know. I would like to know, I can predict it in the sense that what I imagine and want is to win the remaining games.

“The mentality I want to transfer is to win and get the maximum. Our goal is to try to reach the maximum with all our strength. There are some regrets tonight.”

Player Ratings Inter 3 – 3 Sassuolo: The Roberto Gagliardini & Ashley Young Horror Show

When Conte took over he said he didn’t want “Pazza Inter” anymore. After tonight it is abundantly clear that is nowhere near to being true.

That performance against Sassuolo wasn’t charming Pazza, it was psycho. The first half was poor and it needed some Skriniar-ish inspiration for Inter to level Sassuolo. Five minutes later, another inspirational move from Sanchez and Biraghi put Inter ahead at half time.

In the second half Inter sat back until Young came on and gifted Sassuolo two penalties, but they were only awarded one which Berardi converted. Borja thought he got Inter home safe but it wasnt to be. Oh and we also saw the miss of the century from a certain Roberto Gagliardini.

Samir Handanovic – 5: Wasn’t awake on the first goal. 4 shots on target, 3 goals. However you expect better towards the end from the goalkeeper of the season and captain.

Milan Skriniar – 5.5: Gave Inter some hope and inspiration in the 40th minute with a marauding run forward. Brought some control after that but lost his mind in the end.

Andrea Ranocchia – 5: Fitness is not on his side, but that cant be an excuse for a rash move and being out of position in the 4th minute. Struggled throughout his 54 minutes.

Alessandro Bastoni – 5.5: Poor, poor start. However he recovered to stop a few dangerous Sassuolo chances especially before Inter scored. The booking wouldn’t please Conte.

Victor Moses – 6: The quality wasn’t there from Victor’s crosses for sure, but he did his defensive bit in keeping Boga quiet. Needs to be more judicious with the ball.

Borja Valero – 6 : Took too much time on the ball and slowed Inter down quiet a lot throughout the game, popped up at the end for what could have been the winner.

Roberto Gagliardini – 3.5: How many times must Inter build Gagliardini up and give him the best chances? The only thing he got right tonight was that he put on the right kit.

Cristiano Biraghi – 6.5: One of the few bright spots for Conte tonight. Stayed safe when Inter were under pressure but then used his pace and strength at the right moment.

Christian Eriksen – 5: Christian has started every game since the restart, that doesn’t help. However, he was nowhere to be found when Inter needed a leader in midfield.

Romelu Lukaku – 6: Did the most with very little service he got. Has played every game like Eriksen but still runs and tries to get the basics right. Looked tired at the end.

Alexis – 5.5 Sanchez: Chased the ball quiet a lot and caused some problems throughout his 62 minutes. Great idea that put Inter in the lead at half time. Ran himself tired.

Stefan de Vrij – 5.5: Stefan usually exudes calm and control, however the damage was already done before he came on as Sassuolo had the shot of confidence in them.

Lautaro Martinez – 6: Good impact off the bench and setup a couple of chances but his team-mates didn’t get the ball to him enough to cause some damage in the box.

Lucien Agoume – 6: The brightest spot for Conte tonight. Looked calm and collected in midfield next to experienced players like Borja and Gagliardini. Deserves more.

Antonio Candreva – 5.5: Shot straight at the goalkeeper under no pressure and that chance could have also sealed the game off. Defensively his game is just about positioning.

Ahsley Young – 4: Not the kind of impact Young would have liked. Could have conceded a penalty with his first touch. Looked nervous since that and it cost 2 points.

Antonio Conte – 5: Either Conte doesn’t rotate at all, or when he does he changes 5 players. The midfield was a runway for Sassuolo in the first half. De Vrij was missed.

Davide Massa – 5: Poor use of VAR when its available. Let Rogerio go for a much worse tackle compared to what Skriniar was sent off for. Both sides were wronged.

Inter – 4.5: Shockingly poor start especially considering Conte wanted to fight for the league title just 3 days back. Looked like an ordinary team for long periods.

Inter’s Cristiano Biraghi At Halftime Vs Sassuolo: “Did Well To Comeback From A Goal Behind”

Inter’s Italian fullback Cristiano Biraghi stopped by Italian broadcaster DAZN after the first half in the Serie A clash against Sassuolo at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

The former Nerazzurri youth team player underlined how important it was to come back from a goal down against Sassuolo.

“Sassuolo are a team that play good football, they have put us in difficulty. We did well to come back from a goal down, now we have to bring the game home by adjusting a few things.

“My goal? It is a beautiful feeling [to score], even though it would have been more beautiful to score in front of our fans.”

The Nerazzurri lead the Neroverdi 2-1 after coming back from a goal behind scored by Caputo, after first Romelu Lukaku equalized from the penalty spot and Fiorentina loanee Cristiano Biraghi giving Inter the lead just before the break.
