Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta: “We Don’t Sell Our Best Players & Lautaro Martinez Hasn’t Asked To Leave”

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has insisted that Inter are not in a position where they need to sell players such as Lautaro Martinez.

The highly rated 22-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a potential move to the reigning La Liga champions ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Various reports in the media have stated that Inter are standing firm with their demands for the Argentine, who has a €111 million release clause in his contract.

“As far as Lautaro is concerned, we have been clear, Inter is a noble club that does not intend to sell their best players,” he explained in an interview with sports broadcaster DAZN moments ago.

“The same rule applies in Lautaro’s case. If he does not express a desire to leave, which he has not done, there are no conditions for him to move to another club.”

He was then asked how talks with Manchester United and Chelsea regarding extending the loans of Alexis Sanchez and Victor Moses are going.

Both players loan deals with the club are set to expire at the end of this month and former Juventus executive Marotta has shared his hopes to see world football’s governing body FIFA introduce global regulations with regard to loan extensions.

“We wanted to bring this season to an end. We know there could be more injuries and there are some anomalous situations in legal terms, such as loans, that should be regulated and there are clubs who do not entirely agree.

“Specifically we have Chelsea and Manchester United players on loan and we are faced with having to engage in effectively extra transfer negotiations.

“There ought to be a rule giving players the right to complete the tournaments they started.

“I hope FIFA or other authorities will soon take action to regulate this issue.”

Inter Midfielder Borja Valero: “We Can’t Use The Heat As An Excuse, Same For Everyone”

In an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV prior to kick off at San Siro between Inter and Sassuolo, Inter midfielder Borja Valero has admitted that the heat they will be playing in cannot be an excuse.

“It was hard to stay away from everything, it was a dark period for people’s lives. I was lucky enough to be able to return to the field despite the absence of our fans, but at least we can play again and we hope to do well,” he started the interview.

He then discussed the temperature, which is sitting at around 30 degrees at the moment in Milan: “It will not be easy for anyone, we have the same difficulties and it cannot be an excuse.”

Next the veteran Spaniard spoke on the style of play of tonight’s opponents, who come into the game off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Atalanta this past weekend.

“They play very well and the manager has them play an attacking style of play but before the game I can’t say anything more.”

Moments later the veteran spoke to sports broadcaster DAZN and added: “We have done a lot as a group in these months in which there have been many problems and we said that we have a small chance that we could make it [winning Serie A] come true.

“Now we have played the game against Sampdoria and now we will play the remaining games as if they were finals.”

The 35-year-old is in the starting line-up tonight for Inter and will be making his 17th appearances across all competitions to date and his 10th start.

In his time on the park so far, which totals just under 900 minutes, the former West Bromwich Albion player has scored a total of two goals.

Italian Journalist Alfredo Pedulla: “This Inter Doesn’t Run Like A Diesel Engine But Like A Turbo”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Italia earlier on today, Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedulla has shared his belief that Inter are back to being the team seen at the start of this season.

“Inter are not a diesel engine, but a turbo engine. The team seen in these first games seems to be same one seen at the beginning of the season,” he explained in the interview.

Pedulla proceeded to share an idea of his regarding why Inter manager Antonio Conte did not insert Christian Eriksen sooner and more often upon his arrival at the club in the most recent January transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur.

“I believe that the fact that he waited for Vidal and the Dane arrived instead, Conte got touchy and slowed down his insertion as a result.”

The transfer market expert also commented on Lautaro Martinez’s future as he continues to find himself linked with a potential move to Spanish giants Barcelona in the coming months.

Barcelona have been courting the Argentine national team forward for a considerable amount of time but have never come close to satisfying Inter’s demands for the highly rated 22-year-old, who has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with the club.

“Barcelona made an effort but then drew back. With the new rules of La Liga, the sales of Coutinho and Rakitic would be needed at figures higher than their real value.”

Ex-Inter Player Jimenez: “Playing For Inter Was Very Important In My Career”

Former Inter player Luis Jimenez has spoke on what it meant to him to be able to spend part of his career on the Nerazzurri’s books.

The Chilean, who is currently on the books of Primera Division de Chile Club Deportivo Palestino, spent three years with Inter between 2007 and 2010.

During his time with the club, he made just 29 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored four goals and provided two assists for his teammates.

“Playing for Inter was very important in my career. It was important for what the club meant and because it was a team with spectacular footballers, that is why getting to such a team was remarkable,” Jimenez remarked as part of an interview with South American broadcaster DirecTV Sports, earlier today local time.

Jimenez also reminisced about his time in Italy as a whole where he also had spells with Ternana, Fiorentina, Lazio, Parma and Cesena.

“I went to Europe very young, Italy changed me. The architecture is what impressed me most. I got to see buildings and monuments which I saw in school books. It was awesome and incredible for me.”

The now 36-year-old made a total of 202 appearances across all competitions between his spells with clubs in Italy. All in all the attacking midfielder scored 45 goals and he also provided his teammates with nine assists too.

Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez’s Father: “His Celebration Against Sampdoria Left Me Speechless”

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s father Mario Martinez has admitted that he was left speechless by his son’s celebration in this past weekend’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

The highly rated 22-year-old broke a six match run without scoring as he scored Inter’s second goal just after the half hour mark against La Samp.

To celebrate, the Argentine national team forward raised his shirt and unveiled a fathers day tribute to his father which was printed on his undershirt.

“It was something surprising, but at the same time unmatched. It left me speechless,” Martinez senior remarked in an interview with Argentine news outlet racingdealma.com.ar.

“Sometimes you dream of these things, but when they happen and you see them, they leave you paralysed. For every parent, I think it’s one of the best gifts you can receive.”

This season Lautaro has become a regular starter at Inter and he has formed a formidable partnership with Romelu Lukaku.

Lautaro has netted 17 goals and tallied four assists in 33 appearances across all competitions to date this term and has found himself strongly linked with a possible move to Barcelona in the coming months.

He has a €111 million release clause in his contract and it has been widely reported that Barcelona would rather do a player plus cash deal for him instead.

Francesco Colonnese: “Inter Aiming For To Win The Serie A Is Not Utopian Thinking”

Former Inter defender Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Colonnese believes that there is a real possibility that Inter could go all the way and win the Serie A title this term.

Inter currently find themselves trailing league leaders Juventus by six points but this has not stopped Colonnese from tipping the Nerazzurri for possible Scudetto glory.

“The calendar is now almost all downhill for Inter, at least on paper, and aiming for the Scudetto for me is not a utopia. Juventus are not fit and Lazio is pretty close by, everything is still in the balance. Inter can and must fight to the end,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, earlier on today.

Colonnese also spoke on tonight’s match which will see Inter take on Sassuolo at San Siro.

“Inter will be able to take advantage of the defensive gaps of the Emilians who, as highlighted in the match against Atalanta, have many.

“However, De Zerbi’s team should not be underestimated, as they are very proactive and dangerous upfront. Anything can happen and Inter cannot afford mistakes. Inter need to stay concentrated and keep their guard high.”

Colonnese also reflected on Inter’s season as a whole so far.

“Conte’s team have had a great season, they have had consistency. Only in direct clashes with Juventus have they done poorly, so it is right that there is only a six point difference between the two.”

The now 48-year-old joined Inter in January 1998 from fellow Serie A side Roma and spent the next two and a half years on the Nerazzurri’s books before departing for Lazio in the Summer of 2000.

He made 80 appearances across all competitions for the club, in which he scored two goals. He was also part of the side who won the UEFA Cup in the 1997/98 season.
