Inter Serious About Re-Signing Nicolo Zaniolo From Roma Who Want At Least €70M

Inter are serious about bringing Nicolo Zaniolo back to the club according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta is has offered Radja Nainggolan, who wants to return to Roma, to the Giallorossi club as part of a deal for Zaniolo.

Roma president and owner James Pallotta is however understood to have no interest in players being used as part payment being included in any deal and wants at least €70 million in cash for the highly rated Italian national team midfielder, who recently returned from a cruciate ligament injury.

Inter signed Zaniolo from Serie B side Virtus Entella and after starring for Inter Primavera, Inter opted to include him in the deal that led to them signing Nainggolan back in 2018 but this proved to be a big mistake as Zaniolo blossomed and has now become one of the best Italian youngsters out there.

This season he has made 27 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored seven goals and provided two assists.

Italian Media Report Inter Moving For Torino’s Armando Izzo Is No Longer A Given

It is no longer a given that Inter will make a move to sign Torino’s Armando Izzo in the upcoming transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Inter have been linked with making a move for the Italian for some time with Inter manager Antonio Conte understood to be a big fan of his.

Reports in the media have suggested that Inter could do a deal and include either Roberto Gagliardini or Andrea Pinamonti, who is currently at Genoa but Inter have a gentleman’s agreement with them that allows them to re-sign him for €20 million.

Despite the fact Inter moving no longer seems so obvious, the report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to explain that Torino are still making plans for the defence.

Torino technical director Davide Vagnati appears set to beat Inter, Napoli, Lazio and Fiorentina to Malang Sarr, who recently became a free agent after his contract with Ligue 1 outfit Nice expired.

Barcelona President Bartomeu: “Lautaro Martinez Talks Have Stopped, Spoke To Inter Weeks Ago”

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that negotiations with Inter over Lautaro Martinez have stopped.

The Blaugrana club have been courting the highly rated 22-year-old for some time now but have so far been unable to meet Inter’s demands for him.

Things have only gotten harder for them in the past week too with many reports stating his €111 million release clause has expired meaning Inter could demand a higher fee for the former Racing Club player.

“The transfer market to come will be very different. The big clubs will be limited by economic problems, but Barcelona is always talking about the market,” Bartomeu explained in an interview with Catalan broadcaster TV3 show ‘Onze’ earlier on today.

“For Lautaro the negotiations have stopped, we spoke with Inter weeks ago. We are in an analysis phase.”

Lautaro joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal back in the Summer of 2018 and he has three years left to run on his current contract with the Nerazzurri.

This season Lautaro has made 38 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park, which totals just under 2900 minutes, he has scored 17 goals and provided five assists for his teammates.

Italian Media Claim Inter Could Let Man City & Man Utd Target Milan Skriniar Leave For €60M

Inter could allow Milan Skriniar to depart the club if they receive an offer in excess of €60 million for him according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Manchester United and other clubs have all been linked with the Slovakian national team defender, whose price has dropped compared to this time last year due to the COVID-19 crisis and due to a not exactly fantastic season.

Inter already have at least three potential targets in mind should they receive an offer of the above amount or more with the report from the Turin based news outlet explaining Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla, Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen and Torino’s Armando Izzo are all targets for the club.

Skriniar joined the club in the Summer of 2017 in a player plus cash deal from Sampdoria and his first two seasons with the club were superb but this season he has struggled, mainly down to the change to a three man defensive system.

€60M Rated Torino Captain Andrea Belotti Intrigued By Idea Of Inter Move

Andrea Belotti leaving Torino depends on many things according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The Italian national team striker feels ready to make the jump to a bigger club and is intrigued by the prospect of a potential switch to Inter.

In order to leave Torino, clubs will have to submit offers of at least €60 million for him. So far no offers have been made and there has only been some talks with intermediaries.

His possible arrival at Inter will also be impacted by Lautaro Martinez staying or going. Should the Argentine leave, Inter will seek out a world class striker to replace him but if he stays Inter could move for him as a third choice, even if for a third choice he may be rather expensive.

To mitigate spending though the report suggests that Inter could offer Roberto Gagliardini and Andrea Pinamonti to La Granata as part of a deal.

Fiorentina and Roma have also shown an interest in signing Belotti and the report points out that Roma have another Inter target in Edin Dzeko, who remains the easiest player to sign.

Nevertheless Conte has plenty of esteem for Belotti, whose Italian national team career he launched.

Inter Legend Alessandro Altobelli: “I Don’t Want This But If Antonio Conte Leaves Then Max Allegri All The Way”

Former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli discussed the Nerazzurri’s current form, coach Antonio Conte, former Juventus boss Max Allegri and the Europa League, amongst other topics, in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Giornale published yesterday.

“If someone had told me that Inter would have lost points against Verona, Sassuolo and Bologna I wouldn’t have believed them but unfortunately it happened.

“The atmosphere has become a bit stiff and even the fans who have always been present and passionate, are losing patience with ferocious attacks against the coach.”

He discussed how the Inter fans were happy to welcome Conte into the job last summer, despite the fact that his career as both a player and manager had largely been tied with Juventus.

“At the beginning of the season choices were made. Conte is a man who has had his sporting career linked with Juventus for years as both a player and a coach but most Nerazzurri fans were immediately convinced of his great professionalism.

“Things went well at the beginning because there were results but lately, I see discontent and even offensive comments. We are a team that in recent games have shown to have weak points and difficulties but the atmosphere must be fixed.”

The 64-year-old Italian didn’t think that Conte would leave the club this summer, after only one season in charge.

“I hope not because with Conte, Inter have made specific choices, losing important players like Perisic, Icardi and Nainggolan to name a few.

“Other players he wanted came through the market and today there’s this negative climate because of the results of the last few games.

“Maybe Conte has to be more careful with his statements, it seems as if the team hasn’t done what he wanted considering his words but he has to be calm because the club has given him a huge salary, higher than most of the players and Marotta is his great sponsor.”

He highlighted that people must wait until the end of the season before they fully judge Conte’s first season in charge of the Milanese club.

“7 games left plus the Europa League, let’s wait for the end of the season before passing judgement. I think the fans must also be patient, there are those who are positive and those who are not.

“I repeat, let’s wait to judge because Inter are 14 points ahead of Roma and are almost sure to participate in the next Champions League season. I hope they don’t start from scratch with a traumatic farewell.”

Altobelli touched on whether former Juventus coach Max Allegri would be a good fit for Inter, should Conte depart.

“I have an immense esteem for Allegri, I consider him one of the greatest coaches in Europe. Max is a hard-working guy. He makes teams play well. He wins.

“I think he’s one of the best and let’s put it this way, even if I don’t want this, if Conte leaves then Allegri all the way.”

The former Nerazzurri striker believed that the Milanese club could win this season’s Europa League. Their next opponents are Getafe at the start of August.

“Right now, no one believes in Inter anymore but I think they have what it takes. A team like Inter shouldn’t be afraid of anyone, the squad is competitive and if they move forward in the cup, they won’t have to fear anyone.

“In my opinion, Inter can hope to win the cup if the team regains enthusiasm, they can go all the way and I honestly hope so.”

He praised former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku for his quick adaption and strong goalscoring record this season.

“I have to be honest, I didn’t expect such a great performance, the Belgian was a positive surprise, he replaced Icardi well and I have to say that you couldn’t notice the difference between the two.

“Lukaku also has a different way of playing, he helps a lot and works with team. Goals and quality in short, he’s having a great season.”

Altobelli thought that it would be better for Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez to remain with Inter for one more year, instead of pushing for a move to Barcelona this summer.

“Lautaro has had a difficult time since the rumours about Barcelona appeared. He has inevitably thought about something else and this hasn’t worked in his favour.

“Lautaro, however, is a forward who knows how to play football, he’s not selfish, he plays for the team, he scores, dribbles and assists. He can become one of the strongest in Europe but his mentality must be strong.

“Inter gave him the chance to play in Italy and to stand out and if I were him, I would stay at least another year to mature definitively and then maybe change teams.”

The former Nerazzurri striker gave his prediction for the final top four in the league table.

“I think Juventus will win again in the end, second Gasperini’s surprising Atalanta and a close fight between Inter and Lazio for 3rd and 4th place but in the end, I think the Nerazzurri will win and get 3rd.”

Finally, Altobelli discussed whether there is too much criticism levied against Inter when they aren’t performing well, compared to other teams.

“I think so, we often use a different method towards Inter in difficult periods. But I think we have to make a careful analysis to understand where we’ve been wrong since 2010 because something hasn’t gone well.

“A lot of money has been spent and nothing has been won, a lot of coaches have changed and the situation hasn’t changed.

“At the end of the year I think they have to have a thorough examination to understand where they went wrong to correct the situation but they shouldn’t to throw everything away because I think they’re going in the right direction, they just have to correct the situation to get back to winning as soon as possible.”

Alessandro Del Piero On Antonio Conte Leaving Inter: “I Don’t Believe It, The Project Is Going Well”

Former Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero discussed Inter and Roma’s hopes for the Europa League and Inter coach Antonio Conte in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia late on Friday evening.

“They come to this tournament with different hopes. They both came at a bad time, but Inter gave more of the impression that they were close to being a complete team. They only lacked a bit of decisiveness in closing out the games.”

The 45-year-old Italian then spoke about Inter coach Antonio Conte and whether the former Chelsea and Juventus boss will leave the Nerazzurri in the summer.

“I don’t believe this is the situation today. He has an excellent relationship with Beppe Marotta and a project that’s going well, in my opinion.

“There’s still a little something missing, that little something that Antonio brings, which can be maniacal and annoying at times, giving Inter an important opportunity.”

Finally, Del Piero highlighted how Conte thought he could walk into the job and immediately win, as well as what needs to be done to grow the squad further.

“He thought he could win right away, despite the fact that during the year he has underlined the team’s growth. The team has grown, they have remained in the games until the last moments.

“But they have to take the hardest step, the one that guides them to win.”

Inter have been inconsistent since the restart of the season, upsetting Conte. The team have only won three out of their last six Serie A games, leaving them in 4th position in the league table, far behind first place Juventus.

There is still a large gap between the Nerazzurri and 5th place Roma, meaning that Champions League qualification is all but certain now for the Milanese club.

Preview – Inter Vs Torino: Somehow Still In The Race For Second Place

While the sky may seem like it’s falling in Nerazzuri-land, it looks like most teams around them are suffering as much, now a victory against visiting Torino will see Inter occupy second place. Match tonight Monday at 21:45 CET.

Inter’s ability to lose points from winning positions was on full display last Thursday when they managed to squander a hard-fought lead towards the end of the match. As with the Sassuolo and Bologna matches, had Inter managed to maintain their lead, they would have been sitting pretty in second place breathing down the backs of Juventus’s necks.

In the pre-match press conference, Antonio Conte spoke calmly of his side’s inability to close games and paying dearly for individual errors. While that may be the case, the coach hasn’t been entirely blameless himself. A reluctance to be flexible with tactical outlook and a now idiosyncratic lateness to use substitutions means that Conte must take his fare share of the blame too.

Marcelo Brozovic’s starting place might not be guaranteed, given an off the field incident over the weekend. But it seems that the Croatian is the only midfielder capable of interpreting Conte’s tactics and has been the keystone that makes the Inter engine tick, substituting him for Borja Valero will probably greatly imbalance the side.

Conte and his defensive team will have studied the goals conceded against Verona and Bologna, because those goals are emblematic of Inter’s goals conceded this season. Whether it’s a snatched shot from the edge of penalty box as with Bologna’s first goal or Verona’s second, or whether it’s the result of a wide fast counterattack, Inter’s conceded goals have almost all been typical of a few repeating mistakes.

Torino Coach Moreno Longo will know that every point counts in the race against relegation. He will also know that these are the best of times to face the hurting Nerazzurri. Longo will have studied Inter’s defensive lapses and will look to implement the same with attacking trident of Simone Edera, Simone Verdi and Andrea Belotti.

Conte must rebuild the side’s mentality from the back, ensuring that the team plays for the clean-sheet first, knowing that everything else will follow. Conte has once again been gifted an opportunity on a golden platter and must ensure that he and his men don’t squander it.

Team News

Conte will finally begin the match with his preferred starting defensive backline, with Alessandro Bastoni back from suspension. The big news out of Appiano is Marcelo Brozovic’s driving under the influence indiscretion. Much has been made in the media and whether the club will take punitive action against the Croatian midfielder, however, considering Conte’s injury crisis in the midfield, expect pragmatism to prevail.

Probable line-up (3-4-1-2): Handanovic (C); Bastoni, de Vrij, Skriniar; Young, Gagliardini, Brozovic, Candreva; Eriksen; Lautaro, Lukaku.

Stats

Last Season: Inter 2 – 2 Torino

Last 10 Head to Head: Inter hold a close but surprisingly inferior record to Torino, the visitors have beaten Inter four times to the hosts’ three victories. It is difficult to imagine, but Inter have not beaten Torino at the Meazza since October of 2016.

Keep an Eye on

Romelu Lukaku: Despite reports that he will be rested, it still seems likely that Lukaku will feature at some point. It’s in trying times that a person shows their mettle.

Lukaku has been a true leader since joining the Milanese side but now comes his turn to show Interisti that he is the right man to build the project around and the new face of the squad. Lukaku must help his teammates evolve and grow out of this crisis and manage to maintain their winning positions in matches.

Officials

Referee: Davide Massa.

Assistants: Di Iorio and Bottegoni.

Fourth Official: Minelli.

VAR: Nasca and Alassio.

Prediction & Concluding Remarks

Prediction & scorers: Inter 2-1 Torino. Lukaku to score a brace.

Concluding remarks: This will be a match of suffering. Torino will know that Inter are there for the taking and will do all in their powers to scalp their hosts.

However, as with the Parma match, expect the Nerazzurri to pull it off and start off the week in second place.
