Inter Milan, Roberto Mancini deny dressing-room unrest after Lazio loss

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses this weekend's Serie A action as Inter Milan lose and Juventus continue to climb the table. Inter Milan have hit back at reports of unrest within their team prior to and after their 2-1 defeat to Lazio on Sunday evening.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Monday that there had been a series of bust-ups at the weekend, starting with Adem Ljajic's refusal to get changed after being told he was only going to be a substitute.
Coach Roberto Mancini is then reported to have been furious with his players at half-time and ordered Stevan Jovetic to come off, only to change his mind and keep him…

Felipe Melo’s nightmare caps Inter Milan loss to Lazio

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses this weekend's Serie A action as Inter Milan lose and Juventus continue to climb the table.

Admittedly it was said tongue in cheek but when Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini was asked by Sky Sport Italia if his team had "ruined Christmas" by losing 2-1 at home to Lazio on Sunday, Mancini could not help but say that it wasn't the best way to sign off.

The defeat saw his team fall foul of Antonio Candreva's brace in a heated match. It was also perhaps as much down to Inter's own inadequacies on the day, rather than Lazio being outstanding.

Individual errors were rife, especially from…

Inter Milan Christmas ‘a bit ruined’ after Lazio loss – Roberto Mancini

Inter Milan were sunk by a pair of Antonio Candreva goals on Sunday.
Christmas has been ruined for Roberto Mancini after his Inter Milan side were beaten 2-1 by Lazio at San Siro.
The Serie A leaders might have pulled four points clear heading into the winter break had they claimed victory over struggling Lazio, who before Sunday night found themselves down in 14th place after seven games without a win.
But a brace from Antonio Candreva rendered Mauro Icardi's strike redundant and sent all three points south.

Inter Milan lead Serie A heading into the Christmas break, but a 2-1 defeat to Lazio means their advantage is slight.Roberto Mancini's men – one point clear at the top – might have opened a four-point gap on Scudetto rivals Fiorentina and Napoli had they beaten struggling Lazio at San Siro on Sunday night. But Antonio Candreva opened the scoring to ensure Inter would fight an uphill battle and Mauro Icardi's second-half leveller was rendered redundant when Candreva stuck away his own saved penalty…

Marco Materazzi unleashes on Rafa Benitez while defending Mourinho

Jose Mourinho and Marco Materazzi celebrate Inter Milan's win in the 2010 Champions League final.
Italy World Cup winner Marco Materazzi has scoffed at pundits who dare to compare Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho.
Materazzi, who worked under both managers at Inter Milan, said that the Real Madrid boss' mental strength paled in comparison to Mourinho, who was let go from Chelsea this week.
"Benitez was afraid of his own shadow. He was jealous of the memory of [Jose] Mourinho," Materazzi said, according to FourFourTwo.
"I had a booth with photos of my successes and Benitez forced me to take them…

Mario Balotelli pens Jose Mourinho tribute to a ‘great manager’

Mario Balotelli isn't always the best judge of what to put on Instagram, but he got this one right. With news of Jose Mourinho's exit from Chelsea, the Liverpool forward (on loan back at AC Milan) penned a tribute to the man who helped develop him at Inter.

Internazionale need strong finish vs. Lazio to close 2015 Serie A campaign

Inter have plenty to celebrate right now, the hope is that will be the case at the end of the season.

The restaurant Unico Milano was decked out in blue and black as the Internazionale players and staff held their Christmas party. There was much to smile about as the team posed for numerous photo opportunities and smiles were easy to come by for good reason. Sitting four points clear at the top of Serie A they are already winter champions, a great achievement considering last season's debacle. The Nerazzurri welcome Lazio to San Siro on Sunday night and have plenty of reasons not to rest on their…
