Italian Media Report Diego Godin May Leave Inter As Antonio Conte Unconvinced By His Performances

Inter defender Diego Godin may still leave the club this summer, due to coach Antonio Conte’s concerns that the player hasn’t adapted enough to his tactical system, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 34-year-old Uruguayan defender joined the club as a free agent last summer, signing a three-year contract that’s due to expire in 2022.

The former Atletico Madrid veteran has struggled to adapt to Conte’s back three, after playing in a back four for the vast majority of his career. The player has even been benched by 20-year-old Italian Alessandro Bastoni, showing Conte’s uncertainty regarding the veteran.

There isn’t a great relationship between coach and player, the report continues, and his performances in the remaining games of the season will determine what his future will be, whether it’s at Inter or elsewhere. Godin has made 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Spanish Media Claim Barcelona ‘Reach Verbal Agreement Worth €120M’ With Inter Over Lautaro Martinez

Barcelona could sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez at the end of August, according to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca earlier today.

The Catalan side have already reached a verbal agreement with Inter regarding the formula, €70 million in cash and two players in exchange for Lautaro, at a total value of €120 million, €9 million higher than the 22-year-old’s old release clause.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker’s €111 million release clause expired earlier this week, which some thought may force the Blaugrana to look elsewhere.

Instead, the Catalan side are confident of a deal and believe they are only a ‘yes’ away from finalizing a potential deal with Lautaro, leaving the club to negotiate with Inter.

Barcelona were happy to let the release clause expire so they could sort out their budget, especially important for UEFA Financial Fair Play purposes, the report continues.

Lautaro is currently experiencing a period of poor form, with some suggesting it’s due to the interest of Barcelona.

Samsung The Favorites To Replace Pirelli As Inter’s Main Shirt Sponsors In Deal Worth €25M/Year

Inter are looking for a new main sponsor starting from the 2021/22 season, with Korean tech giants Samsung in pole position for the contract, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri will not be renewing their contract with current main sponsors Pirelli, who have been the primary sponsors of the Milanese club since 1995.

The favourite company to take their place is Samsung, a company who already has business relations in Asia with Inter’s owners the Suning group.

The agreement could see Inter earn more than €25 million a season, the report continues. The Milanese club have sold 35 different sponsorship positions this season, to companies in eight different commercial fields.

Italian Media Reports Inter Owners Suning Not Happy With Antonio Conte’s Recent Comments

Inter’s owners, the Suning group, are not impressed with coach Antonio Conte’s recent negative comments to the media, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The report details how the club have no intention of dismissing the Lecce born coach, but aren’t impressed with his disparaging comments made to the media after the team’s recent poor performances.

The Nerazzurri’s owners still support Conte and believe he is the right coach for their future project, but the possibility of both parties agreeing to go their separate ways could still happen.

The next few months will be crucial in regard to Conte’s future at Inter, the report continues, both the remaining games of the season and the work carried out in the transfer market.

One man who could replace Conte at the Nerazzurri would be former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is currently jobless after leaving Juventus last year.

Italian Media Claim Asamoah, Godin, Vecino & Esposito Will All Leave Inter This Summer

Four Inter players will leave at the end of the season, although for one of them it is only on loan, according to a report from Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com earlier today.

The report details how the Nerazzurri will be saying goodbye to Diego Godin, Kwadwo Asamoah, Matias Vecino and Sebastiano Esposito at the end of the season.

For the two Uruguayan players, the reason for their departure is due to the fact that there is no strong relationship with coach Antonio Conte. For Godin this is because he struggled to adapt to the three-man defense, whilst Conte never appreciated Vecino, even attempting to sell him in January.

Esposito will leave on loan at the end of the season, the report continues, with a likely destination being Parma. The Nerazzurri are keen to hold onto the 18-year-old Italian and are hoping he will develop with the Emilian club. Asamoah will leave due to having too many physical problems, as the 31-year-old Ghanaian has missed at least 18 games through injury this season.

Italian Media Highlights Why Inter Should Aim For Europa League Final After Draw Completed

A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has highlighted why Inter should look to focus on playing the Europa League final.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are in a better position than fellow Italians Roma in the Europa League, after the draws, with the Milanese club having a slightly easier path to the final.

The Nerazzurri’s biggest obstacles on route to the final would be Getafe, Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk and Basel, setting up a potential Inter vs Manchester United final.

Inter will focus on securing a top 4 finish in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the report continues, a position that was seemingly secured until the poor performances of the season restart.

The Nerazzurri are currently 4th in the league table, 14 points ahead of 5th place Roma, so a few more wins should secure the placing. Atalanta are one point ahead in third place.

French Media Claim Inter & Chelsea Have Contacted With Lille Over Midfielder Jonathan Ikoné

Inter and Chelsea are both interested in signing Lille’s attacking midfielder Jonathan Ikoné, according to a report from French media outlet Le10Sport earlier today.

The report details how both the Nerazzurri and the Blues are keen on the 22-year-old French trequartista, who is contracted to the Ligue 1 side until 2023. Both sides have made first contacts with the player’s entourage and the club, but neither have started any real negotiations yet, with no offers being made either.

Ikoné made 36 appearances across all competitions for Lille this season, for a total of 2649 minutes. In that time, he scored four goals and provided seven assists, impressing for the Ligue 1 outfit and attracting the attention of the Nerazzurri.

Inter are looking to strengthen the squad this summer in order to both make strong investments for the future and to provide coach Antonio Conte with a competitive squad. The 22-year-old is one of many young talents Inter are interested with, with others being players like Marash Kumbulla and Sandro Tonali.

Italian Media Claim Inter Open To Parting Ways With Milan Skriniar But Only For Big Money Offers

Inter are open to selling Slovak defender Milan Skriniar but only for a large offer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the 25-year-old Slovakian international defender impressed in his first two seasons with the Nerazzurri, but has disappointed this season under coach Antonio Conte, due to the change of formation from a back four to a back three.

Last summer Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Manchester City were all keen on Skriniar, with the two English clubs offering €65 million at different times, but all were declined.

Despite that, Inter may be open to selling Skriniar, this summer, the report continues. It’s clear now that the Nerazzurri can no longer ask for €80 million for the 25-year-old, but would be willing to consider offers should they arrive. Skriniar has made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3122 minutes.

Italian Media Report Inter Will Only Accept Antoine Griezmann As Part Payment For Lautaro Martinez From Barcelona

Inter are willing to accept Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann in exchange for Lautaro Martinez, as the Blaugrana look to sign the 22-year-old Argentine striker this summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper la Stampa.

The report details how Barcelona will never be able to reach Inter’s request of €111 million, and the Nerazzurri have already refused both Nelsen Semedo and Junior Firpo, two players offered by the Catalan club.

The Milanese club would be interested in Griezmann, but the Frenchman earns around €17 million net per season, a huge wage considering Inter’s highest paid players, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen, earn €7.5 million per season.

However, the report continues, Inter could make use of a tax exemption in the Italian tax code, which would mean that Griezmann would continue to earn what he currently earns at Barcelona, but that it would cost Inter €22 million gross instead of €34 million gross.

Inter are currently paying €22 million gross in wages to coach Antonio Conte, making Griezmann’s total wage cost on par with the Nerazzurri coach, something Inter can afford.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta will have to work hard to find both a possible deal with both Barcelona and Griezmann, the report continues. Lionel Messi’s wishes to play with Lautaro may prove important in the talks, as the Argentine star seems increasingly unhappy at the Catalan side, who may look to keep him happy.
