Borja Valero Could Start For Inter Instead Of Roberto Gagliardini In Tonight’s Serie A Clash Vs Sassuolo

Borja Valero could be brought in to the Inter starting line-up for tonight’s Serie A match at home to Sassuolo according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Spaniard could be brought in for a rare start in place of Roberto Gagliardini and he could be the only change that Inter manager Antonio Conte makes to the team that started this past weekend’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to state that there is a slight possibility that former Italian national team manager Conte could change the starting wing backs from Antonio Candreva and Ashley Young to Victor Moses and Cristiano Biraghi.

It does go on to add though that Candreva and Young remain favourites to start the match against the Neroverdi side, who are coming into this match off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Atalanta.

Preview – Inter vs Sassuolo – A Banana Skin Match Or Three Easy Points?

Buoyed by a decent showing and an important three points against Sampdoria, Inter take on the usually problematic Sassuolo in an early evening midweek fixture. Match tonight at 1930 CET.

No Inter fan looks at the match calendar, sees the Sassuolo matchday and isn’t immediately weary of their side’s prospects. Inter have traditionally suffered against the Neroverdi who seem to relish the possibility of raining on an Inter parade. That said, this new Inter, molded in Antonio Conte’s vision, seems to be more capable than ever to take care of business against “weaker” opposition.

Conte will, in all likelihood, start with the same eleven players as he did against Sassuolo. With attacking trio Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez and Christian Eriksen improving their interplay and understanding every day, the manager will probably be hoping for a quick attacking start to the match, where his side can score a couple of goals and then ease their physical output and manage the rest of match accordingly.

Coach Roberto DeZerbi’s Sassuolo restarted their campaign having been in decent form prior to the break, but a 4-1 thrashing by Atalanta in their first match back will have knocked a bit of the wind out of their sails.

The visitors will try and frustrate the hosts for as long as possible, hoping that the fast breaks of Inter tormentor Domenico Berardi and rising starlet Jeremie Boga can catch the Nerazzurri off guard giving the underdogs a fighting chance of taking home the three points.

Team News

Midfield trio Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi and Matias Vecino are all unavailable for selection due to various injuries (and the fact that Sensi is made of delicate Bohemia crystal). It is highly likely that Conte will select Roberto Gagliardini in midfield alongside Nicolo Barella to make up the missing spot.

Probable line-up (3-4-1-2): Handanovic (C); Bastoni, de Vrij, Skriniar; Young, Barella, Gagliardini, Candreva; Eriksen; Lautaro, Lukaku.

Stats

Last Season: Inter 0 – 0 Sassuolo.

Last 10 Head to Head: Inter have slowly been able to improve the head to head record between the two sides, it now stands at five wins for the guests and four wins for Inter.

Keep an Eye on

Antonio Candreva: The Candyman has looked his sharpest since football’s resumption. With a delicious assist to Lautaro on the second goal against Samp, Candreva seems to be in form. Seeing that the majority of Inter’s attacking threats seem to come from the right flank, having an in-form Candreva will be vitally important for Inter’s chances to taking away all three points.

Officials

Referee: Davide Massa.

Assistants: Schenone and Imperiale.

Fourth Official: Minelli.

VAR: Nasca and Alassio.

Prediction & Concluding Remarks

Prediction & scorers: Inter 2-0 Sassuolo. Lukaku and Candreva to get the goals for the hosts.

Concluding remarks: Much like the second half of the Sampdoria match, it is probable that this match will proceed in a manner where the result will take precedence over the quality of play. Expect Conte’s Inter to try and score early and put away the match as quickly as possible in order to minimize the requirement for effort disbursement over the ninety minutes.

Inter Coach Conte Could Rest Trio Candreva, Young & de Vrij In Tonight’s Serie A Clash Against Sassuolo

Inter manager Antonio Conte could rest Antonio Candreva, Ashley Young and Stefan de Vrij for tonight’s Serie A match at home to Sassuolo according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Danilo D’Ambrosio is currently more likely than Victor Moses to replace Candreva, Cristiano Biraghi could replace Young and Andrea Ranocchia could be given a rare chance to start in place of Dutch international de Vrij.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that Christian Eriksen will retain his place in behind the strikers and there is a chance that Inter’s strike force may look a little different tonight compared to each of the past two games.

Romelu Lukaku will start but he may not be starting alongside Lautaro Martinez as he has done almost all season with the report claiming that Alexis Sanchez could well be handed a start ahead of him.

Inter CEO Antonello On New Stadium Project: “We’re Going In The Right Direction”

Inter’s Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello has admitted to being confident about Inter and AC Milan’s shared new stadium project heading in the right direction.

Significant progress was made yesterday as the two clubs came to an agreement with the Milan city council over the total volume of the project, something which had been holding things up beforehand.

Whilst there is still some work needed to be done before the final go ahead can be given and the two clubs still need to decide between the two projects on the table from Populous and Manica/CMR Sportium, things appear to be heading in the right direction.

“This is a signal that the two clubs love Milan and that the two foreign investors firmly believe in the revitalisation of the city in such a difficult moment. We are confident, we are going in the right direction,” Antonello remarked in an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

A recent report from the same source suggested that the stadium will be completed in 2024 and the entire project, including the commercial district, will be completed in its entirety in 2028.

AC Milan Join Inter In Being Interested In Young San Lorenzo Striker Adolfo Gaich

AC Milan have joined the race to sign highly rated San Lorenzo striker Adolfo Gaich ahead of the upcoming transfer window according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

The Argentine youth national team striker is the latest name to be added to AC Milan management’s list of potential additions to the attack but they are far from alone in courting Gaich.

The report specifically mentions that Inter have an interest in signing him too whilst reports elsewhere in the media have linked him with a whole array of other clubs.

Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, CSKA Moscow, Atalanta, West Bromwich Albion, KAA Gent and Atletico Mineiro are all also understood to be interested in the player who has a €13.5 million release clause in his contract.

This season the 21-year-old has made 13 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored five goals and provided a single assist.

Alexis Sanchez Could Start For Inter Instead Of Lautaro Martinez Tonight Against Sassuolo

Alexis Sanchez is seriously threatening Lautaro Martinez’s place in the starting line-up according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 31-year-old, who is on loan from Manchester United, has made two promising appearances off of the substitutes bench and may even be handed a start in place of the Argentine in this evening’s encounter at home to Serie A.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to state that Inter could end up having to do without the Chilean in the Europa League.

In order for him to stay with Inter for the Europa League, Inter will have to reach an agreement with Manchester United but it will be far from straightforward as Manchester United are in the Europa League and could well end up facing Inter and Sanchez in the competition.

It also adds that it is not quite as difficult to imagine Victor Moses remaining with Inter for the Europa League, due to the fact Chelsea are not in the competition but an agreement will still have to be reached between the clubs.

Lazio Schedule Meeting With Hellas Verona To Wrap Up Signing Of Inter Linked Marash Kumbulla

Lazio have scheduled a meeting with Hellas Verona to talk about Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

There has been direct contact between Lazio president Claudio Lotito and Hellas Verona president Maurizio Setti and in the coming days they will meet to hold talks over the highly rated Albanian national team defender.

Lazio hope to be able to finalise a contract with the highly rated 20-year-old and beat other clubs in the race to sign him.

As per the report, which appeared on Di Marzio’s eponymous website, Inter, who have also been heavily linked to Kumbulla, are in no rush to sign him.

The reason for this is because Inter have liquidity limitations at the moment but there may be a possibility that they move for Kumbulla if Lautaro Martinez is to be transferred to Barcelona.

This season Kumbulla has made 21 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a single goal.

Inter May Not Be Able To Use Man Utd’s Alexis Sanchez & Chelsea’s Victor Moses In Europa League

Inter and Roma are both at risk of losing players that they have on loan from English clubs according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Inter have Alexis Sanchez and Victor Moses on loan from Manchester United and Chelsea respectively whilst Roma have Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on loan from Manchester United and Arsenal.

English clubs are against the idea of extending loan deals past the end of the domestic season and this could complicate matters for Inter and Roma, especially when it comes to the Europa League.

As things stand there is currently no international regulation regarding the extension of loans and it will ultimately come down to clubs reaching agreements with one another.

The report explains that English clubs are reluctant to allow the players out on loan to stay at clubs for the remainder of the Europa League as it could hamper their own chances of success.

It also goes on to explain that Alexis Sanchez’s situation is the most complex of all. He currently earns €12 million a year, of which Inter agreed to pay €5 million of for the duration of the loan.

Almost €5 million gross would be required to cover his wages for July and August, which is far more than Inter would have otherwise paid if the terms of the agreement remained the same.

Inter are therefore at risk of losing him which would mean they would have reduced options for the attack in the Europa League.

Ezequiel Carboni: “Dream Come True To See My Children At Inter”

Ezequiel Carboni has revealed that it is a dream come true for him and his wife to see sons Franco and Valentin join Inter.

Inter added Franco, who is the oldest Carboni son, to their ranks at the end of last year whilst they wrapped up a deal for middle son Valentin, who now only needs to put pen to paper on a contract to finalise things, in the past week.

“For me and my wife it is a dream come true to see my children at Inter,” he explained in an interview with Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, yesterday afternoon.

Reports elsewhere in the media have stated that Inter will also bring the youngest Carboni son Cristiano to the club and Carboni senior has also recently confirmed in another interview that he will be joining Inter in a scouting capacity.

The former midfielder is currently a youth team coach at Catania, who Inter have signed two of the three brothers from. He has also had spells as manager of both Lanus and Argentinos Juniors in his native Argentina.
