Ex-Man Utd Midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron: “Playing In The Serie A For The Likes Of Inter Changed My Life”

In an Instagram Live chat with former club Sampdoria, former Inter midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron reflected on the years of his career that he spent playing in Italy.

Veron’s Italian adventure began in 1996 when Sampdoria signed him from Superliga Argentina side Boca Juniors. He spent two years with La Samp before spending a season with Parma and then three seasons with Lazio before earning a move to Manchester United.

He returned to Italy with Inter in the Summer of 2004 in a two year loan deal from Chelsea. During his time with Inter, the former Argentine international made 74 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored four goals and tallied 11 assists for his teammates.

“My arrival in Italy was a real lottery for me. To tell the truth I didn’t really know what I was doing,” he began the interview.

“It must be taken into account that at the time there was not the same means of communication as there is today, so it was like a leap into a reality that was in some respects unknown.

He then went on to discuss how he found adapting to life in Italy.

“Getting used to Serie A was difficult, it took me a few months to settle but at the same time it was something exciting.”

Veron, who is the current president of Estudiantes, concluded by further reminiscing about his time and admitted that playing in Italy was life changing for him.

“Football is made up of great moments and I experienced many of them in Italy where I was able to play for many great teams from Sampdoria to Parma to Lazio and then Inter, where I won a lot.

“I played for great clubs in Serie A and I am proud of it. It changed my life and made me who I am.”

Walter Gargano: “My Season At Inter Was A Transitional Season, One Cycle Was Closing & The Next One Had Not Yet Started”

In an interview with Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, former Inter midfielder Walter Gargano has reflected on the season he spent with Inter.

“It was a transitional season, but we didn’t know it. We ran into a series of injuries that impacted things and a cycle was definitively closing while the next one had not yet started,” he explained in the interview which appeared in yesterday’s print edition of the Rome based news outlet.

Gargano, who is back playing football in his homeland with Penarol, then went on to discuss former Inter teammate Antonio Cassano and his ambition to become a sporting director.

“He was an extraordinary player, with fantastic feet and a gigantic heart but he was also a little crazy. I have read that he wants to be a sporting director and I am curious to see what he will do if he meets a player who is like him. Antonio knows about football and I am convinced that he will make his knowledge available.”

The Uruguayan joined Inter on a loan for the 2012/13 season from fellow Serie A side Napoli. During his single season with the Nerazzurri, the 65 time Uruguayan international, made 36 appearances across all competitions, in which he provided two assists.

Gargano began his career at Danubio and moved to Napoli in the Summer of 2007. After his season on loan at Inter, he then spent the following season out on loan at Parma before he was sold to Mexican club Monterrey. He spent two years there before joining his current employers on a free transfer.

Inter Coach Conte To Rely On Sensi, Barella, Brozovic, Skriniar & de Vrij If & When Serie A Season Resumes

Inter manager Antonio Conte will look to five players in particular to deliver the goods if/when the Serie A season starts back up again according to a report in yesterday’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Midfield trio Stefano Sensi, Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic will all be heavily relied upon as will defenders Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij, who are amongst the best defenders in the country.

If the Serie A season starts back up again, Inter will have 13 games to play and have quite a gap to close between themselves and second placed Lazio as well as current league leaders Juventus.

Inter are sitting down in third at the moment with 54 points to their name after 25 games played, which is eight and nine less than Lazio and Juventus respectively, who have both played an extra game than former Italian national team manager Conte’s Inter have.

Italian Journalist Biasin: “Not A Practical Idea For Nainggolan To Return To Inter, Juventus’ Dybala Is Not For Sale”

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Biasin has revealed he is not convinced that there is all that great of a possibility of Radja Nainggolan being reintegrated at Inter.

The Belgian midfielder was deemed to be out of Inter’s project this past Summer and was subsequently shipped out on loan at Cagliari but reports in the media in recent weeks have suggested he could possibly be reintegrated into the squad.

“It is a hardly practical hypothesis. His experience at Inter lasted a year and some kind of judgement was made about him,” Biasin remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva earlier on today.

He then voiced his opinion on the future of San Siro, which was recently deemed to hold no cultural interest.

“I am very much in love with it and I hope that it can be preserved in some way, otherwise we are looking for a modern solution and move on. The thing I don’t like is that you have to build a plant for two clubs.”

Next Biasin spoke briefly on Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen and other players who have struggled this term at the Nerazzurri: “He will get space to play as will others at Inter.”

Biasin concluded by speaking on Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala, who has today been suggested as Inter’s dream signing in the Italian media ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window.

“He has no price because he is not for sale. Last summer Inter would have gladly brought him to Milan, perhaps inserted in an exchange with Icardi.”

Inter Sporting Director Ausilio: “We Have Told Barcelona We Have No Intention Of Selling Lautaro Martinez, If They Want Him They Can Pay The Buy-Out Clause”

Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio reacted strongly when asked about how the negotiations between Inter and Barcelona over Argentinian international striker Lautaro Martinez were going.

The Nerazzurri Sporting Director told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia that the former Racing Avellanada player isn’t leaving Inter unless a club pays the buy-out clause, which is widely reported as being set at €111 million.

“Lautaro Martinez is not going anywhere, whoever wants him will have to pay his buy-out clause. There is only way that he can taken away from Inter and that is to pay the buy-out clause.

“It is a binding clause because it has its deadlines and limitations and it is a binding clause from a financial standpoint as well. It is the only way that exists to not see Lautaro leave Inter.

“We are not currently discussing or raising the issue of Lautaro Martinez with anyone, simply because we believe in him, he is an important asset for the club and then let’s not forget that he still has 3 years left on his contract.

“Inter has no intention of letting important players leave but has every intention to hang on to them and reinforce the team on the transfer market.

“Many clubs have contacted us to discuss the issue of Lautaro, Barcelona has been the most decisive. I know what we have told Barcelona and they know perfectly well what our intentions are. Inter has no intention of selling Lautaro.”

Lautaro Martinez joined Inter in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported to be in the region of €22 million and has since then featured 66 times across all competitions scoring 25 goals in the process.

The former Racing man scored 16 of those this season before the COVID-19 crisis caused all of football to come to a grinding halt, but before then his impressive performances prompted Barcelona to become very interested in him.

In recent months it has been widely reported that Barcelona are trying to sign the player but keep falling shy of the demands Inter have set.
