Inter Focus On Signing PSG’s Edinson Cavani As Timo Werner Most Likely To Sign For Liverpool

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner’s most likely next destination is currently Liverpool according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The German national team player is widely expected to leave the Red Bull energy drink backed club in the coming months and has been linked with several clubs.

For the time being, Liverpool appear to be the clubs where he will most likely end up. Inter have also shown a strong interest in signing him but appear to have cooled that interest as of late with them focusing on signing Edinson Cavani, who is set to become a free agent at the end of next month.

Werner has been in sublime form this season and netted a hat trick over the weekend which took his goals tally for the season to 30 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has also assisted 12 goals.

Inter Delighted If Man City’s Joao Cancelo Returns As Part Payment For Lautaro Martinez Being Sold To Barcelona

Inter are delighted by the prospect of Joao Cancelo possibly returning to the club as part of a three way deal that will see Lautaro Martinez head to Barcelona according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Barcelona intend to send Nelson Semedo to Manchester City in return for his Portuguese national team teammate and will then offer Cancelo plus a cash sum to Inter in return for Lautaro, who they have been courting for a long time now.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has already given the green light to club management to swap Cancelo and Semedo and it now remains for that to take place and Barcelona and Inter to come to an agreement over the cash element of the deal for Lautaro.

This season Cancelo has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored one goal and provided a single assist.

Inter Decline Barcelona’s Offer Of €50M + Two Players For Lautaro Martinez & Await New Offer

Both Inter and Barcelona are unwilling to drag negotiations over Lautaro Martinez on for too long according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The two clubs have been in talks for some time now over the highly rated 22-year-old Argentine national team striker but there is still some distance between the clubs.

Barcelona have already seen a €50 million plus two players offer rejected by the Nerazzurri, who responded by saying Junior Firpo is a welcome as part payment as well as the cash element must be raised.

Inter have reportedly made it clear to the Blaugrana club that if they are unwilling to pay his €111 million release clause then they will have to pay at least €90 million plus a player or two.

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the pitch, the former Racing Club player has netted 16 goals and has tallied four assists.

Italian Media Claims Inter Open To Giving PSG €10M Discount On Mauro Icardi’s €70M Price Tag

Inter are waiting for Paris Saint-Germain to up their offer for Mauro Icardi after agreeing to give them a discount according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

There was no shortage of contact between Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo and Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio over the weekend and there was also plenty of contact with the player’s agent, Wanda Nara.

Icardi joined Paris Saint Germain on a season long loan this past Summer with a €70 million option to buy attached but Inter have agreed to let him go for €60 million and are now waiting for Paris Saint Germain to offer that.

If they make that offer, it would be the third offer they have made after they have had a €35 million plus Julian Draxler and a €50 million offer both turned down.

Icardi and Wanda are both convinced about staying in the French capital and the report warns that the only doubt now is whether a clause may be inserted into the deal with prevents Paris Saint-Germain from selling the Argentine to Juventus or another Italian club for a set amount of time.

Inter Confident In Signing PSG’s Edinson Cavani Amid Interest From Newcastle & Inter Miami

Inter believe that they will be able to sign Edinson Cavani in the coming months according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Cavani’s contract with his current employers, Paris Saint-Germain, is due to expire at the end of next month and with no contract renewal seemingly forthcoming he is just weeks away from becoming a free agent.

Inter are however not alone in being interested in the current Uruguayan national team striker, the report from the Milan based news outlet’s report goes on to explain.

David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami are interested as are Newcastle United, who are set to be taken over by a mega rich Saudi Arabia based consortium.

The report claims both clubs could offer a greater salary to Cavani than Inter could and it remains to be seen whether Cavani would like to join Inter despite the fact he would not make as much money.

Ex-Nerazzurri Striker Ruben Sosa: “Inter Should Keep Man Utd Owned Alexis Sanchez”

Former Inter striker Ruben Sosa discussed the Alexis Sanchez situation and how the player should still get a chance at the Nerazzurri in an interview with Chilean news outlet La Cuarta published yesterday.

“I was with him in the hotel where he lived in Milan. For me he’s a great player, with a long career, especially with his national team, he’s very respected.

“He hasn’t been given the right time, he can’t play so little, he needs to stay on the pitch for several games, for ninety minutes. He needs time to go back to be the player he is.”

Sosa suggested that the Manchester United owned forward should be given another year with the Nerazzurri, to properly show off his qualities.

“He needs two games to gain confidence, but he needs to do it whilst starting and playing the full game. I’d keep Alexis for another year at Inter. He’s a goal scorer, physically he’s very well and still has a lot to give. He’s a guy who has scored a lot of goals and will continue to do so.”

He commented on the Inter linked Arturo Vidal, who seems less and less likely to be joining the Nerazzurri as the club look for younger options.

“He would be very useful for Inter, he’s a stellar reinforcement. Antonio Conte knows him very well, he also chooses players very well. Should he arrive, Vidal would give hierarchy to the team as well as a plus of grit and dynamism. He’s a complete footballer.”

Sosa touched on the fact that Vidal previously played for Juventus.

“But that’s how football is, you have to play wherever you want. I never thought I’d play at Inter when I was at Lazio, but I did and I had three wonderful years, where I scored a lot of goals. Today I’m going to Milan and the people are very affectionate.”

Finally, Sosa spoke about Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who is heavily wanted by Spanish giants Barcelona.

“I don’t know what he wants. He’s a guy who’s part of a great team like Inter. I don’t know what the players think, they go to a team for four years and after a year they want to change to get more money. They’re thinking a lot about money.”

Sanchez, who has spent this season on a dry loan at Inter from Manchester United, has made 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 596 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided three assists, struggling to make a strong impact at the club since his arrival.

Liniers President Carlos Pablo: “We Could Do A Lot With The Money We Receive If Barcelona Sign Lautaro Martinez From Inter”

Carlos Pablo, president of Liniers de Bahía Blanca, the club where Inter striker Lautaro Martinez started his career, spoke about the future of the player and a possible sale in an interview with Argentine radio broadcaster Radio del Plata earlier today.

“It may be crazy, but the idea of the money we will receive makes us tremble but not despair. We could do a lot of things with that money but it’s not an issue we talk about every day.

“We are very enthusiastic about what Lautaro Martínez is doing. It’s an unusual and extraordinary situation for us. My feeling is that the purchase from Barcelona is practically done, but I don’t think they will tell us anything for the moment.”

Pablo continued discussing the situation and how they will earn from the sale of the 22-year-old Argentine striker.

“Maybe they’ll wait until the season restarts. We retain 20% of the capital gain from Racing, which was agreed with Víctor Blanco when he was sold to Inter.

“In addition to the solidarity mechanism as well, which represents 1.59% of the gross value of the transfer. If Lautaro’s transfer takes place, it will be the most important in this market.

“Maybe the money won’t be much and there will be some difference in payment or something like that. I spoke with him ten days ago and never mentioned the subject, I really respect the player’s peace of mind. B

“ut the truth is that I have friends in Spain, and they told me that they don’t talk about anything else. If you think of the names that are close to Barcelona, what a great team they are building!”

Barcelona are looking to sign the 22-year-old Lautaro in the upcoming summer transfer window but cannot afford to pay his full €111 million release clause.

Instead, they are hoping to offer multiple players to Inter, as well as a cash lump sum, but a deal has still not been finalised, with both clubs taking their time to discuss which players should be included in the deal.

Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2437 minutes. In that time, he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists, forming a formidable partnership with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Forgotten Faces At Inter – Roberto Carlos: Was It Roy Hodgson’s Fault Or Just In The Right Place But At The Wrong Time?

In this series of articles we will be reminding you of players you forgot ever donned the black and blue of the Nerazzurri, as well as discussing and dissecting their time at Inter as well as the rest of their careers.

In the second part of this series, we will be investigating the short spell of legendary Brazilian left back Roberto Carlos in the Nerazzuri colours.

Just how did a player who finished as a Ballon D’Or runner up as an individual, a World Cup winner with his country and a three time Champions League winner with Real Madrid have such an anonymous spell with Inter?

Like many great Brazilian players, Carlos began plying his trade as a footballer in his native land, turning out for Palmeiras and Atlético Miniero. His performances from full back earned him national honours and he was part of the squad who came runners up in the 1995 edition of the Copa America.

Roberto-Carlos-03-1024x575.jpg

Like all successful Brazilians, there seems to come a time where it seems natural to move over to Europe. More exposure, a tougher league and more financial gains lead to most Brazilian players feeling as if a move to Europe signals that they have made it in their careers.

Following his exploits at the Copa America, Carlos left Palmeiras to join Inter who were being coached by Octavio Bianchi.

The thought was that Carlos would strengthen a back line which already boasted the likes of Javier Zanetti and Giuseppe Bergomi. Carlos, aged just 22 at the time, was seen as perhaps Inter’s left back for the next ten years. With Zanetti at right back and Carlos as left back the future seemed set Inter, however, it simply didn’t pan out that way.

Carlos couldn’t have started his Inter career any better in all fairness, thundering one of his trademark free-kicks home in his debut against Vicenza, but that was about as good as it got.

Roberto-Carlos-02-1024x768.jpg

Stats wise his season on paper looks quite solid. Sevens goals across 34 games in all competitions isn’t too shabby for a man who played as a mixture of left back, left wing and central midfield.

However the former is where the problem lay. Octavio Bianchi was to last only until the September of that season and his replacement, club legend Luis Suarez, only took on the hot seat for a month. In came Englishman Roy Hodgson fresh from guiding Switzerland through the 1994 World Cup and onto qualification for Euro 1996.

Hodgson was hugely well respected as a manager for his work with the Swiss as he had guided them to their first major tournament since 1966 and his work in Scandinavia in general alongside Bob Houghton had earned him legendary status.

However, him and Carlos never hit it off according to the player.

Hodgson seemed determined on playing Carlos further up the pitch in a central midfield role or on the wing, something which the player wasn’t happy with. Carlos protested against playing in a more advanced role as he didn’t want his national team role to come under jeopardy.

Carlos wanted to be first choice left back heading into the next edition of the Copa America and even further ahead a World Cup. Hodgson guided Inter to a seventh place finish in Serie A and to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia but Carlos wasn’t going to stick around for the next term under Hodgson’s helm.

Roberto-Carlos-01-1024x576.jpg

Carlos left Inter after just one season, signing for Spanish giants Real Madrid where he would become one of the best left backs of his generation.

Carlos amassed over 400 appearances for Los Blancos, winning three Champions League titles and four La Liga winners medals during his time at the club.

Since his retirement following spells with Fenerbahce, Corinthians, Anzhi and Deli Dynamos in India, Carlos has been quite outspoken about why his spell at Inter did not work out.

Carlos has conducted numerous interviews where he has blamed Hodgson for his departure and sought Massimo Moratti’s help to escape the club.

Carlos claimed that Hodgson ‘didn’t know much about football’ and he was worried about losing his spot in the Brazil national team.

With the beauty of hindsight, it’s clear to see that Carlos went on to have a stellar career both for his country and at the Bernabéu which is testament to his belief in his abilities to play as a left back.

However, Hodgson did not leave Inter in disgrace, leading them to the UEFA Cup final which they lost on a penalty shootout against Schalke 04.

Right place but at the wrong time for Carlos perhaps or should he have been more understanding and respectful of his managers methods? We will never know.

Racing President Blanco: “I Have A Feeling That Lautaro’s Transfer To Barcelona From Inter Close To Being Finalized”

Racing club president Victor Blanco discussed Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and his future, which could see the Argentine club take 10% of the deal if he joins Barcelona, in an interview with Argentine radio broadcaster Radio Del Plata yesterday afternoon local time.

“I have a feeling that Lautaro’s sale to Barcelona is very close to being finalised, although I haven’t spoken to him yet. Our share of the money? I like to count the money only when you know the real figures, I don’t like to speculate. Whatever the figure is, it will be welcome for us.”

Blanco discussed how his decision to take a risk regarding a future sale of Lautaro proved a better decision than taking an extra €2 million.

“Lautaro, when he was sold to Inter, was the most lucrative transfer in all of Argentine football and if he were to go to Barcelona for the figure we are talking about, it would be raised once again.

“When we sold him to Inter, we were good at keeping this percentage on the resale. It was a very strong temptation to get €2 million more but we decided to bet on the future without any certainty of a future sale.”

Lautaro, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has impressed many this season under the guidance of coach Antonio Conte, forming a formidable partnership with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

The 22-year-old is heavily wanted by Catalan giants Barcelona, but the Blaugrana can’t afford to pay the Argentine’s €111 million release clause.

The Spanish side are hoping to offer multiple players to Inter in order to lower the amount they’ll have to pay in cash, but the Nerazzurri want a significant cash sum that they can use to reinvest into the squad.
